    Corrections to video:
    1) The Roscoe 6 actually also has 120mm of travel in its suspension fork, making the travel the same between all 3 bikes.
    2) The Roscoe 7/8 use a Knock Block compatible stem, but do not actually have the Knock Block system on the bike. Thus all bikes can be turned any amount, and the suspension fork will just miss the frame on the turn instead of being stopped entirely.
    3) The Roscoe 8 uses 180mm brake rotors in both the front and rear, for better stopping power.
    4) The 2021 Roscoe 7 has increased in price to $1,280.

I bought my son a Marlin 5 for his birthday and I've noticed the quality of Trek bikes since. Your videos have been an amazing help for me to decide what to get for myself. Out of the Marlin, x-caliber and Roscoe range I've decided to get a Roscoe 8. That is when lockdown over here ends and we have some freedom again.

FYI I just bought a Roscoe 7 and on their site says they've increased price by about $100 USD. It's around $1,340 now but I still think the 7 is an amazing value. The store had 2 and the other one sold while I was there so I "had to".

I have a 2020 Roscoe 6, so far I've upgraded my pedals to odyssey twisted PC pedals because I really wanted a larger platform that is super grippy, I replaced my grips for sunday Jake Seeley grips with odi grip locks because I love the way they feel and they fit my big hands perfect, also I put a pivotal seat and post because I like the durability, I just ordered rained bars with 55mm rise to help get me into a more comfortable position. I'm currently shopping around for some stiffer more durable forks under $500 that will work for a heavier rider, if you have any suggestions let me know. I'm also considering going up a couple teeth on my front sprocket. I chose the 6 because I had already planned on making upgrades as I progressed as well as coming from a bmx background I really loved the way it feels and how nimble it is.

I own a 2020 Roscoe 7 and it’s definitely a great frame with good geo and the components work well enough. I plan to upgrade the brakes, fork and shifter and derailer. Mostly because the trails in my area are all one continuous rock garden basically so it’s rough on the suspension and going downhill you bounce around too much for the brakes to work well. That being said they work well enough you just lose the precise control they should offer. I’m changing the derailer and shifter because it skips around on the 3 bigger chain rings even though it’s been tuned multiple times. Mostly it’s been damaged from smashing it into quite a few rocks when I was starting. Essentially just like most hardtails it’s great for flow trails and moderately techy trails, and while it is possible to do the super techy rock garden trails a short travel full suspension bike would work much better imo.

    Hello Talalipop, Nice video,

    Thank you!

    • @TalalipopMTB
      @TalalipopMTB  4 роки тому

The Roscoe is definitely a good mountain bike with those big tires and frame geometry, but that also makes it slower on the road and in flat areas than other mountain bikes like the marlins, and just any other bike with thinner tires. If you use it for travel over trails then that should work but on the road it might start to feel a bit slower. I've definitely heard comments from people saying the roscoe isn't too bad on the road though, so it could work out! Trek also does have a travel specific mountain bike called the 1120 which has lots of space for carrying bags, but that one might be overkill haha.

Well the suspension fork alone is a $150 upgrade based on the retail prices of those forks, and the NX eagle drivetrain is around $75 more than the SX eagle, so you're actually getting a bit of a deal going up to the 8. These prices may differ depending on where you get the parts from, and whether or not those upgrades are worth the money is totally up to the rider.

    • @alphabuilders

If you are spending less than 150 on your helmet then id say you would be better served with the 6 and pay more for a new tech concussion resistant lid like a rally wavecell or similar.. No point having a rig that just lands marginally better tricks if you are not geared up to survive a bad fall safely.. Plus it may give you the confidence to really push your kit and have the kind of fun its designed for..

I converted my stock roscoe 6's (2019) Kendas to tubeless without any tape for $12.99. (I'm not sure that they were tubeless ready in 2019) I've really pushed this bike to the limit and everything has worked great. Minus the crank creek, that's annoying lol.

Madness the price of trek bikes ......my voodoo at 500 goes down black trails with no bother at all and it still going strong after 3 years .......in most cases it’s never the bike but the pilot on board 🤙🏻

Why doesn't south Korea sell roscoe 6 and 7!!? They only sell roscoe 8 in Korea trek website.

The fact that trek still uses a QR rear axle tells me that those are ok for entry level MTBs.

Roscoe 6 has 120mm travel - only small has 100mm. Roscoe 8 has knock block compatible stem, but no knock block system

Basically an overpriced hardtail with subpar components, well the Trek Roscoe 8's fork is good but everything else is subpar. For the same price you can a get a better hardtail else where
