I own a 2020 Roscoe 7 and it’s definitely a great frame with good geo and the components work well enough. I plan to upgrade the brakes, fork and shifter and derailer. Mostly because the trails in my area are all one continuous rock garden basically so it’s rough on the suspension and going downhill you bounce around too much for the brakes to work well. That being said they work well enough you just lose the precise control they should offer. I’m changing the derailer and shifter because it skips around on the 3 bigger chain rings even though it’s been tuned multiple times. Mostly it’s been damaged from smashing it into quite a few rocks when I was starting. Essentially just like most hardtails it’s great for flow trails and moderately techy trails, and while it is possible to do the super techy rock garden trails a short travel full suspension bike would work much better imo.
Hello Talalipop, Nice video, I’m planning to buy a Roscoe to use as mtb in summer time and also as a travel bike with a rack and all the bags. What do you think about? Thank you!
The Roscoe is definitely a good mountain bike with those big tires and frame geometry, but that also makes it slower on the road and in flat areas than other mountain bikes like the marlins, and just any other bike with thinner tires. If you use it for travel over trails then that should work but on the road it might start to feel a bit slower. I've definitely heard comments from people saying the roscoe isn't too bad on the road though, so it could work out! Trek also does have a travel specific mountain bike called the 1120 which has lots of space for carrying bags, but that one might be overkill haha.
I ordered a Trek Roscoe 6 (2020 version) last August. Expected Arrival is this September. How are people getting 2021’s when I still haven’t got my 2020 yet?

I dont think its a big jump in price but it seem to have better gear. Just making sure before I bite the bullet. Cheers for any input 👍
I'd say it is; especially the 2021 model with the new upgrades (better brakes, slightly better drivetrain, and a dropper post). I think you're getting a pretty good deal for the money in 2021.
The specs on Trek's website for the Roscoe 7 says the Maxxis tires are tubeless. Do you know if that means they come stock tubeless, or are they just tubeless ready?
Can anyone tell me if the 2022 Roscoe 6 has the room to add 29"wheel and tires? I just picked up a new 22 xl and wanted to upgrade the forks in the near future but haven't decided yet what shock to go with ..( on a budget) thanks
Well the suspension fork alone is a $150 upgrade based on the retail prices of those forks, and the NX eagle drivetrain is around $75 more than the SX eagle, so you're actually getting a bit of a deal going up to the 8. These prices may differ depending on where you get the parts from, and whether or not those upgrades are worth the money is totally up to the rider.
If you are spending less than 150 on your helmet then id say you would be better served with the 6 and pay more for a new tech concussion resistant lid like a rally wavecell or similar.. No point having a rig that just lands marginally better tricks if you are not geared up to survive a bad fall safely.. Plus it may give you the confidence to really push your kit and have the kind of fun its designed for..
I converted my stock roscoe 6's (2019) Kendas to tubeless without any tape for $12.99. (I'm not sure that they were tubeless ready in 2019) I've really pushed this bike to the limit and everything has worked great. Minus the crank creek, that's annoying lol.
