Actually, i personally consider giant shuriken as his Z move, ive always seen the bond phenomenon where the person and the pokemons bond is so strong they can achieve a state similar to both mega evolution and Z moves at the same time, mega evolution doesn't need synchronicity between trainer and pokemon, however z moves do, what would explain ash being the only one in modern day, well first, battle bond ability pokemon could be rare, and even if someone did manage to synchronize like ash and greninja do, its worth mentioning ash is an aura user, i have my own headcanon that if you can use aura you can megaevolve your pokemon and use z moves without its stones, this would explain why electrium z could evolve into pikashium z when in ash's hands, his aura and pikachus bond heavily influcting on the electrium z allowing them to use a move stringer than even the pikanium z stone can, its also worth mentioning, that according to anime, its presumed that the first pokemon to ever megaevolve was lucario, ya know, the aura pokemon
