the corvair is one of the very few small cars over the years that escaped being tagged as a "cheap economy car". it was a gorgeous little car that had that extra something

When I was in college my autoshop preofessor said he used to race Corvairs and win. He swore they were good cars. As he was the smartest mechanic I ever knew I had no cause to doubt him. However Ralph Nader would disagree with him. I was around Corvairs as a little fetus although I'm sure we never owned one.But I remember you could take the cylindars off that pancake six. I thought that was cool.I always thought Corvairs were in competition with the Ford Falcon for the ugliness award. However around 65 the Monzas were quite sporty looking. Thanks for the Ventures montage and all those cool pictures. Especially the ones with the pretty girls.Which are probably all in the old folks home or worse. Time is friend to nobody I guess.

Well done! Fantastic sound track and beautiful snap-shots. While we think of the Sixties as a "simpler time", it really was one of the most tumultuous decades in American history. Kudos to GM and Ed Cole's vision with developing a simple automobile for a complicated era. Really enjoyed this production!

I owned a '62 Corvair with independent suspension. Being young and stupid at the time I took a sharp curve at 55 mph. No rollover period. Yes the car leaned and I mean l-e-a-n-e-d but that was it. As we all know or should know, Ralph Nader made his career in a lie that the Corvair was inherently unstable because of the suspension. Gee, what do you know trusting a lawyer, NOT!

Indeed and although circa early 60's I was still a young boy, it was a much better time. The opening musical song was perfect, segueing eventually to something more mellow. I like some of the young gals in the pics with their Corvairs. especially the one at around the 1:55 point in the vid washing her car. Very attractive young woman!

animalcorvair 🇺🇸 Wow! Add 2 more so that you have one for each day of the week and one for special events. 😒 I’ve always liked them but never have driven/owned one. Do you like them that much? 🧐 My dad had a 64 Monza, maroon, sports wheels, shifter knob, black interior...ran extremely well! What kind of issues did they have? I had a Fiero that was light in the front and hard to drive in winter, if you didn’t know what you were doing.

My mother bought a new '63 Monza sedan, maroon with black interior, 102 hp automatic (mom's car), I hit a rock wall and flipped it into a telephone pole at around 100 mph. Totaled. Roof was crushed and pushed through driver's seat. I got out without a scratch but my buddy cut his arm crawling out through the glass of the upside down ride. Needed 7 stitches. My dad couldn't come to terms with insurance company so he made them buy a relplacement car. 1964 coupe 110 hp 4 speed. It was white with blue interior. These little cars were tough with fiberglass on sheet metal. I hit a Chevel in the rear (trunk to trunk). About $600 damage to the Corvair, $1200 to the Chevel. That was graduation night, 1967. Dad sold the car when I went to college that fall. He finally did something smart. Oh yeah, with studded snow tires they couln't be stopped in the snow unless the snow was so deep it lifted the uni-body off the ground. Great fun.

I've got a '64 and a '65. There's something about a Corvair! Love these images....this video is a time machine! Cool medley....At 4:10 or so, I hear the song Bésame Mucho. Nice transition! Thanks, 1unsafe1! I'm looking forward to the other segments, too. P.S. How did you collect all of these photos? Just searching on the Interweb?

Enjoyed this a lot. My borther-in-law sold his 1960 2dr coupe to my mother and when I got my license needless to say it became my car for the first year or so till I got my first Corvair Corsa a 1965. I even bought a converted corvan with pop top etc when I was stationed in Michigan. Lots of fond memories associated with these cars and music.
