  • The milKit tubeless tire valve system promises simple installation of tubeless tires. With easy access to add and check the amount of sealant in the tires. It mostly delivers on this goal, but falls a bit short in the key claimed metrics of clean and easy.

    Just bought a set. Pretty interested to see how it goes. Wanted to get Reserve Fillmore valves first but decided this would be a safer bet.

    Liked the video! Well played. What’s the gun you have attached to the compressor? I like the digital gauge. You find it reliable? Thanks!

      It's a GrimmTools inflator. It's OK, but it doesn't work with Presta values without an adapter so I switched to using a PrestaFlator Pro digital.

    Why did you use pressure when you put sealant into tire? I think its for checking it? And did you use tubeless Coni tire?

      The key selling point of this system is that you can add/check sealant levels without deflating the tire. I wanted to test that. The tires are Continental GP 5000 TL.

    So what your feedback on the Muc off tubless sealant ? I've heard it's not working !

      @Mamilian  Рік тому +1

      Not a fan. I currently use Orange Seal Endurance, but still on the hunt for the perfect sealant.

      @@nicolasbauchet7166 I've also heard good things about the Silica sealant, but like a lot of their products it's hard to separate the confirmation bias out :D.

      Same here: Muc Off not so good. Good experience with Silca, BUT you cannot put the sealant through the valve stem. It will clog the injector. You need to fill through the rim bead. The top-up fluid they have can be injected through the valve though.

    Thank you for posting this. Why do you think the front valve leak sealant?

    • @Mamilian
      @Mamilian  4 роки тому +1

      If you're referring to the section on refilling, the bottom of the valve didn't close all the way when I pulled out the injector. When I refill it now, I always rotate the wheel a little so the valve isn't at the bottom. This way the sealant flows away from the valve, and even if it doesn't seal perfectly, only air comes out.

    Purchased these valves,if the valve core ever separates and the plastic end piece gets stuck in the valve. You will have to remove the wheel off the rim to get to the plastic dip stick out of the valve. Not exactly a great system as I never got to fill my tire,I did get more experience removing and installing my tire three times though. Will be purchasing regular valve stems. Until they fix the valve core separating so easily. Should have made them one solid piece instead of pressure fitted.

      Thanks for the heads up. I haven't run into that problem, but I can see how that would be an issue given the design. Cheers

      The one in the video is a Craftsman 2 gallon. I have replaced it with a 20 gallon Husky I picked up from Home Depot when it went on sale.

    great video, but you should of slightly turned the wheel when putting the sealant in

  • @siclmn

    A solution for something that is not a problem. To check sealant level just upscrew your valve core and insert a dipstick made from anything, zip tie or spoke and check the level. You never have to take the tire off. This is missinformation.

    • @Mamilian

      Thanks for your valuable insight. While that is certainly one way to do it, there is room for a diversity of opinion on how one might perform the same task. Using your method there is some risk that the tire will unseat from the rim (i.e. when you let all the air out); that is the problem that milKit is designed to solve. That's not misinformation, just a different approach, which you are free to ignore or embrace as you see fit.
      Personally, I now check sealant amounts using the weight of the wheel/tire (ua-cam.com/video/7sRGZKwGShY/v-deo.html) which only requires a scale and willingness to take the wheel off the bike.

      @@Mamilian Yes you are right, I have a very tight fitting tire so I don't worry about that ever happening but in the case of a lot of easy fitting mountain bike tires I can see that happening.

    • @irfuel
      @irfuel 3 місяці тому

      My gravel tires always unseat when fully deflating, so if I don't put the bike on a work stand the tire will get crushed by the bike and there will be sealant all over the floor. So no it is not "missinformation" (sic)
