Abortion is not a subject that lends itself well to an all or nothing binary opinion (for *or* against though. I personally consider myself to be pro life, in that I find the elective termination of a healthy pregnancy to be abhorrent. But I acknowledge that there do exist legitimate medical reasons why some pregnancies are very literally/physically life-threatening to the pregnant person. As such, I cannot support the political right’s most extremist of abortion bans that fail to understand that a diagnosis of fetal death (and eventual stillbirth if mom doesn’t die from sepsis first), or of an incomplete spontaneous abortion (commonly referred to as a “failed miscarriage”)… are legitimate medical conditions that are often best treated by using the same tools, techniques and procedures as are used in elective abortions. On the flip side of a binary view on abortion is the fact that several states have no laws officially limiting abortion based on gestational age. Meaning that if someone who would have sought abortion if they had found out they were pregnant at 6 weeks…. But for any number of legitimate reasons didn’t learn they were pregnant until 36 weeks (it happens) … the far left abortion rights view is that such a person should be able to terminate that healthy pregnancy at any time prior to birth. Now admittedly, finding a medical professional willing to do such an abortion at such a gestational age where a healthy fetus could easily survive birth to transition to a healthy infant status would (hopefully) be difficult… but I suspect not impossible. And if you read interviews with doctors who do perform late term abortions, you will find that a large percentage of people seeking their services cite all the usual reasons why they want an abortion coupled with “but I didn’t know I was pregnant until just recently” When abortion rights supporters say things like “that should be between a woman and her doctor” … that is every bit pretending that such situations do not exist as is the far right pretending that pregnancy could never be life threatening to the mother. If it would be immoral to intentionally kιll a newborn infant for any reason, why would it be morally acceptable to kιll them the day before they were born? Are you OK with that? An abortion the day before a baby would have been born? No? How about 2 days before? Or 3 or 5 or 8 or 13? Most people following this channel would consider Trump’s attitude towards people with disabilities (including congenital disabilities they were born with) to be repugnant. And rightly so. And yet the most ardently vocal abortion rights advocates happily support couples choosing to terminate a pregnancy because the child might be born with a disability. Many of these cases are disabilities that can be treated or managed. Occasionally, as was the case for one of my grandchildren, the prenatal diagnosis turned out to not be accurate after being followed very closely by a specialist for three years. As he said, my opinions on the abortion debate aggravate people in both camps.

I honestly thought the same thing at the beginning as he set up all these technicalities with the law. I'd classify myself as pro-choice, mainly because I'm a guy and I can have absolutely no solid understanding of this issue outside of how I "feel". That said, I can totally empathize with those that are pro-life. I also understand where Conway lands on this issue, after hearing him go into detail. Abortion _is_ complicated from a legal standpoint. Abortion _is_ complicated for women in general. Standing on the sidelines and saying women must fall in line with absolute reproductive freedom is easy, but the reality is much more difficult. But men also already have total reproductive freedom already. The fact that women don't is despicable to me, and their frustrations with it are completely understandable. Courts being able to dictate what one does with their own body goes against everything I believe the United States stands for, and we can have these discussions concerning the technicalities around abortion when, and only when, women have the same absolute freedoms men do.

My mom had to constantly hide with my then 2 year old brother when the air raids went off and the bombs started dropping. The Natzi’s would parade up and down the streets with their rifles, dictating when the Dutch people could leave their homes, Dictating when to turn their lights off at night, stopped food from coming into the country. So I know what you’re saying. Think the American people have never gone through it and don’t understand how bad it is living under a Dictatorship. I don't know any women that believe in abortion. But most women believe other women should have the CHOICE to make that hard decision. Abortion should not be used as a form of birth control, per se. If you are having sex (males or females), you are jointly responsible in avoiding an unwanted pregnancy.
Contraception doesn't always work and abortions are not strictly reduced to people who don't want have children - often it's about women who want children but have complications

I like George, but this is where we vehemently disagree with one another. I think on the subject on abortion, a woman should be free to choose because it is her body. No one, no man, woman, government official, should EVER have a say in what a woman does with her body. Data has shown over and over and over again that 95% of abortions happen within the first 12 weeks of a pregnancy. And that reason should be left up to the woman, father if he's in the picture, her family, and her doctor. Period. No one should ever have a say over what another human being does with his/her body. That's my view. But we have politicians that think they can tell others what they can or can't do with their body's. It's insane.

Canadian here. Just came back from the cottage in Tobermory and I saw the most horrid sight, an old 60’s Winnebago with US flags, OK no big deal but on the passenger side was a window decal of a life size bust of Donald Trumps head. We are on a small lake with a tight knit community of cottages, however home cottages are rented out in the summer, boy did the community have something to talk about, what a laugh as we say them drive by with the pride of being Trump supporters. They sent us there best representative for their country and it was disgusting. Good luck America!

A politician/government should Never make the decision regarding a woman’s body. That is a right that belongs to the woman and her doctor alone. If Your organs are not directly involved, specifically your Heart, Liver, Kidneys and Uterus, which they are NOT, then it Cannot Ever be Your decision. Her Choice. The risks involved in a pregnancy are high and can often be fatal. My sister almost died on two separate occasions, while she was trying to conceive, one pregnancy was ectopic and close to fatal if not for medical intervention, the other was another hazard, and both times her ob/gynecologist was able to save her life. This was back in 2001 when doctors weren’t in fear for their own livelihood or threatened with prison time if they looked after the mother first and foremost.
Back then (the time period he's talking about) women did not have access to BIRTH CONTROL so many more abortions happened than needed to. I worked in the medical field at the time, it was a great day for everyone (men included!)when there were FEWER unplanned pregnancies with access to birth control. HW Bush understood this and he supported Planned Parenthood when he was in office.

Abortion is not a subject that lends itself well to an all or nothing binary opinion (for *or* against though.
I personally consider myself to be pro life, in that I find the elective termination of a healthy pregnancy to be abhorrent. But I acknowledge that there do exist legitimate medical reasons why some pregnancies are very literally/physically life-threatening to the pregnant person. As such, I cannot support the political right’s most extremist of abortion bans that fail to understand that a diagnosis of fetal death (and eventual stillbirth if mom doesn’t die from sepsis first), or of an incomplete spontaneous abortion (commonly referred to as a “failed miscarriage”)… are legitimate medical conditions that are often best treated by using the same tools, techniques and procedures as are used in elective abortions.
On the flip side of a binary view on abortion is the fact that several states have no laws officially limiting abortion based on gestational age. Meaning that if someone who would have sought abortion if they had found out they were pregnant at 6 weeks…. But for any number of legitimate reasons didn’t learn they were pregnant until 36 weeks (it happens) … the far left abortion rights view is that such a person should be able to terminate that healthy pregnancy at any time prior to birth. Now admittedly, finding a medical professional willing to do such an abortion at such a gestational age where a healthy fetus could easily survive birth to transition to a healthy infant status would (hopefully) be difficult… but I suspect not impossible. And if you read interviews with doctors who do perform late term abortions, you will find that a large percentage of people seeking their services cite all the usual reasons why they want an abortion coupled with “but I didn’t know I was pregnant until just recently”
When abortion rights supporters say things like “that should be between a woman and her doctor” … that is every bit pretending that such situations do not exist as is the far right pretending that pregnancy could never be life threatening to the mother.
If it would be immoral to intentionally kιll a newborn infant for any reason, why would it be morally acceptable to kιll them the day before they were born?
Are you OK with that? An abortion the day before a baby would have been born?

Most people following this channel would consider Trump’s attitude towards people with disabilities (including congenital disabilities they were born with) to be repugnant. And rightly so.
And yet the most ardently vocal abortion rights advocates happily support couples choosing to terminate a pregnancy because the child might be born with a disability.
Many of these cases are disabilities that can be treated or managed. Occasionally, as was the case for one of my grandchildren, the prenatal diagnosis turned out to not be accurate after being followed very closely by a specialist for three years.
As he said, my opinions on the abortion debate aggravate people in both camps.

I honestly thought the same thing at the beginning as he set up all these technicalities with the law. I'd classify myself as pro-choice, mainly because I'm a guy and I can have absolutely no solid understanding of this issue outside of how I "feel".
That said, I can totally empathize with those that are pro-life. I also understand where Conway lands on this issue, after hearing him go into detail. Abortion _is_ complicated from a legal standpoint. Abortion _is_ complicated for women in general. Standing on the sidelines and saying women must fall in line with absolute reproductive freedom is easy, but the reality is much more difficult.
But men also already have total reproductive freedom already. The fact that women don't is despicable to me, and their frustrations with it are completely understandable. Courts being able to dictate what one does with their own body goes against everything I believe the United States stands for, and we can have these discussions concerning the technicalities around abortion when, and only when, women have the same absolute freedoms men do.

While the foundation of my own pro-life stance comes from religion (I'm a rare Catholic progressive who actually practices my faith), I truly believe there is a conversation to have about abortion from a 100% secular viewpoint.

I like George, but this is where we vehemently disagree with one another. I think on the subject on abortion, a woman should be free to choose because it is her body. No one, no man, woman, government official, should EVER have a say in what a woman does with her body. Data has shown over and over and over again that 95% of abortions happen within the first 12 weeks of a pregnancy. And that reason should be left up to the woman, father if he's in the picture, her family, and her doctor. Period. No one should ever have a say over what another human being does with his/her body. That's my view. But we have politicians that think they can tell others what they can or can't do with their body's. It's insane.

Canadian here. Just came back from the cottage in Tobermory and I saw the most horrid sight, an old 60’s Winnebago with US flags, OK no big deal but on the passenger side was a window decal of a life size bust of Donald Trumps head. We are on a small lake with a tight knit community of cottages, however home cottages are rented out in the summer, boy did the community have something to talk about, what a laugh as we say them drive by with the pride of being Trump supporters. They sent us there best representative for their country and it was disgusting. Good luck America!

A politician/government should Never make the decision regarding a woman’s body. That is a right that belongs to the woman and her doctor alone. If Your organs are not directly involved, specifically your Heart, Liver, Kidneys and Uterus, which they are NOT, then it Cannot Ever be Your decision. Her Choice.
The risks involved in a pregnancy are high and can often be fatal. My sister almost died on two separate occasions, while she was trying to conceive, one pregnancy was ectopic and close to fatal if not for medical intervention, the other was another hazard, and both times her ob/gynecologist was able to save her life. This was back in 2001 when doctors weren’t in fear for their own livelihood or threatened with prison time if they looked after the mother first and foremost.

I worked in the medical field at the time, it was a great day for everyone (men included!)when there were FEWER unplanned pregnancies with access to birth control.
