- Annu, an Indian javelin thrower from Bahadurpur, Meerut, Uttar Pradesh, began her journey with a self-crafted javelin from bamboo due to financial constraints. She has emerged as one of India's top female javelin throwers, achieving significant milestones in her career. In 2019, Annu became the first Indian woman to reach the finals of the women's javelin throw event at the World Athletics Championships. Her career-best throw of 63.82m, also the National Record, was achieved in 2022. She made history by winning a bronze medal at the 2022 Birmingham Commonwealth Games, marking her as the first Indian female javelin thrower to do so. In 2023, Annu clinched Gold at the Asian Games with a season-best throw of 62.92m, becoming the first female Indian athlete to win Gold in Javelin Throw. Her achievements highlight her as a trailblazer in Indian athletics, inspiring future generations with her perseverance and success.
