It will be even more trippy if this video is VR 360. Honestly, i don't think it looks trippy. 60fps is supposed to simulate the VHS as if it was being played from the VCR to the TV, instead of the computer.
TV's only output at 29fps, not 60. All you did was duplicate the frames and deinterlace to make it 60fps, which is why it looks "trippy". I have the same method, and 60fps renders don;t work for most VHS, especially animated ones (like cartoons). It will stutter and desync.
My childhood! I knew these logos since I was 2 in 2010! List of my favorite childhood logos that was featured in this video: 1) CBS/FOX Video (1984-2000) 2) Fox Video 3) 20th Century Fox Home Entertainment (1995-2020) 4) Paramount Home Video / Paramount Home Entertainment (1989-2007) 5) Miramax Home Entertainment 6) Warner Home Video (1996-) 7) MGM Home Entertainment 8) Columbia TriStar Home Video 9) MCA Universal Home Video & Universa Pictures Home Entertainment
American VHS Distributors update video is under production, I have more VHS tapes to cap so I'll have more logos then. Logos will be naturally deinterlaced at 60fps, so no more of that awful frame blending! *5/1/18 UPDATE* : I have been busy that I haven't had the time to go work on the update. But I will say that it's 50% done, maybe a little bit over. I will see if I can get it released by the end of this month. This video has received 10k views, which I really appreciate you guys very much. I promise I will get the update video ready, and you will see the TRUE 60fps, not "cheated". Always learn from your mistakes.... *6/16/18 UPDATE* : Logo order will be randomized Instead of being organized by companies. I am trying to see if I can push the update out this July... *7/30/2018 UPDATE* : I will be taking a long arse hiatus, I'm going off to college and have other things to worry about. I'm not wanting the update to do gown the trash, but I have really important things in life to worry about. Hopefully for sure, the update video should be ready by the end of the year if I have time. Sorry people, I just hit that part life...
Just curious how's this update video coming along? I have some old tapes that I would like to do in a similar fashion and archive and I wanted to know which capture device did you order and how is the quality vs this old one in 60fps? Thanks in advanced! :D
I've been busy with things so I haven't had a chance to work on the update, I would say it's about half way done. This video was the first that I attempted to do 60fps VHS but I "cheated" on this one, which looks like garbage compared to my later 60fps uploads, long story. I have lots of VHS captures to dissect for the logos, and probably need more (I can't get every distributor out there, but more of the common ones, maybe a couple of underground companies in there). Anyway, my advice on capturing VHS and uploading on YT is a big hassle to teach, but it's worth the fame. If you go to my channel about page, it tells you what I use for my captures. But for this video, I was using a Startech.com SVID2USB23 capture dongle. It was working great, though I would drop frames like crazy, and I was also having trouble with the audio levels being maxed out. Maybe I had a faulty dongle? Also, MANUALLY CLEAN YOUR VCR HEADS. I always say this b/c so many people on YT upload their VHS captures and the video and sound quality are complete crap. I had this issue before, but when I manually cleaned the heads, it made my VCR like new again, and everything was crystal clear (obviously VHS quality is not). If you want to capture VHS in 60fps, follow this video, it helped me bring my VHS captures to 60fps. ua-cam.com/video/qlL9a6p0PWk/v-deo.html For cleaning the VCR heads, check this out: www.hardwaresecrets.com/how-to-manually-clean-your-vcr-heads/) Here is something extra: I would recommend buying a time base corrector (TBC), b/c it "regenerates" the analog VHS signal to make the picture look better. They are hella expensive to buy on eBay, you can probably find one a lot cheaper at a garage sale, goodwill, etc. I think they are optional to buy, but would recommend for capturing VHS so that you won't have errors with the VHS signal when capturing.
Ah ok, thanks for the update and the detailed response! Yeah, I don't really need a full tutorial on how to record the footage (I guess I should have stated I have previous experience capturing video, since 2009 as a matter of fact lol). My old capture card was a Dazzle DVC100 which I'm not sure if it has the option to record/output 60fps. Appreciate the model of capture card being supplied as well. I'll follow those links for further information. I apparently also forgot to subscribe (I'll do that now) since I was here last writing the previous comment so I could see when the updated one comes out. I probably could have researched your channel/videos better in order to get some of these answers (apologies for that). I honestly wasn't sure if you'd respond because other people I have commented to asking about their VHS capture methods didn't seem to be active on their channel, or just completely ignored me. Appreciate the response and I'll give your newer videos a look as well as check out those links!
Some childhood nostalgia there
60fps Are The Greatest Things On This Video
Usually when I see a Fox Video logo on a VHS tape, it's always at 60fps
Amazing how many of these (Fox, Paramount, etc.) were reused for DVD releases.
Me too! Ice Age for example.
Why does everything look so trippy in 60FPS
It will be even more trippy if this video is VR 360.

In NTSC the frame rate is 30fps and it is upscaled to 60hz (60fps)
In PAL the frame rate is 25fps and it is upscaled to 50hz (50fps)

The memories of 3:00
I remember all of those video foxes and that paramount one when I was younger...
2:41 Ah yes, the studio that distributed the Super Mario Bros. movie. :3
The American movie, not the Japanese Anime one, which is the first Mario movie.
3:51 i found the rarest MGM Home Entertainment logo!
It's not rare. It was seen on MGM VHSs from 1998 to 2005.

fun fact: 60 fps was these logo's native framerate

1:45 reminds me of Blues Clues
4:17 They meant: "COMING

"Theatre" is still correct, but Americans prefer to use "Theater".

ChunkyVHS guess that’s a great idea for everyone who uploads logos on UA-cam!
