Yes Andy, the used market over hear has been like that for some time now. The absence of New Caravan dealers means used trade in stocks are scarce. Used dealers buy a lot of vans in England and bring them over here. Used buyers haven't much dealer selection so they are confined largely to online sales sites. Plenty on these sites but the problem is your 6 to 10 year old vans very often haven't seen a service since the used dealer brought them in from England. There's only 2 registered NCC service centres in a Ireland one in the North and one in the South The cumulative effects of all this is a high percentage of damp caravans. When I was looking for my first van a 304 Xplore the price difference between new and used wasn't enough to risk getting stuck with scrap. Well glad the videos offer an insight into the used vans we have here - going to do a few more vieos like this. Ah trust me to pronounce your wifes name wrong - i know a lot of our trade vans go to Ireland - interesting to hear of your used market situation such a shame.. Great vlog Andy, like Chris I love looking inside other people's caravans. Public Holiday over here in Ireland today weather not good and TV useless, so great to watch your video. Love your style in that you never know what you mind wander into to look around. Plenty of good used caravans over with you is great for buyers. Here in Ireland the used market is very much" Buyer Beware " servicing is non existent due to lack of New Sales Dealers so genuine vans are scarce as teeth in a hen. Lots of horror stories from unfortunate buyers so my advice to buyers is go to a reputable dealer, ok you pay a little more but you come away with piece of mind.
Hi Kevin - oh thats not good has it always been like this - I cant remember that problem years ago - its a big shame as Ireland has some of the best scenery anywhere - we have a few probs with some used here but most get sold out abroad such as South Korea ! The standard of tourers I see these days is generally better than its ever been in the past. used to be damp tourers up for general sale and many at over inflated prices. Your advice is right keep to a dealer who has a good reputation thanks for your comments as usual and i like a wonder on sales grounds ha ha !!
New to caravanning like to watch your vlogs to-get tips,I too love looking at other peoples caravans I’ve noticed when on caravan sites the community that’s there will always help you out if you have any problems should have done this years ago,look forward to the next issue.
