    Your videos are so very practical and very glad I found them. I appreciate all the effort you put into these and what you share. In this case for example, I was not aware of the features in the text box visual that would allow you to roll your own smart narrative. Brilliant!

    Yes! this is the part I was missing. Just skip the visual and make your own text box. Thanks!

      haha yes .. that's also how I would use it 🤗

    2 years on and smart narratives hasn't progressed much. I recently tried to add one for a visual with a budgeted and actual value over a 12 month timeline and it kept referring to the budget value, so had to add in a text box version instead. Great presentation by the way.

    Hi Bas! Is there a way to remove the green line that appears under the value? As in your example you are changing the color to orange, the green line under it seems unnecessary.
    Thx!

    Would it be possible to list multiple items from multiple column on a smart narrative visual or is there need to design DAX. Example to display COVID-19 cases reported across continents on a selected date:
    Source columns are([Reporting date], [Continent], [Total cases])
    Required output should look like the following on the smart visual upon filter using Reporting date
    (Europe(300), Middle East(500), N.America(700),Africa(490),Asia(150)

    Very nice thanks!
    Do you have any idea about how to get rid of the underlining? (would be great for printing)

      I don't think that is possible 🙁

    Nice. What about conditionally color negative values as red, positive - green?

    • @HowtoPowerBI
      @HowtoPowerBI  3 роки тому +1

      I don't think that is possible yet. Workarounds I could think of (1) have a measure that conditionally show emojis up/down error (2) have two values next to each other. One shows when negative and the other when positive - give them different color.

    Is this possible to use SMART NARRATIVE in Power BI Report Server?

    It is not giving me value for division to get percentage value later

    I've been playing with it but I've been unable to show the multiple values selected in a slicer. If I want to see the content of the smart narrative updated when a select multiple values in a slicer at the same time, I can only see the name of one of them. Do you know how to do it? Thanks.

      I think the quick measure --> concatenated list does what you are looking for. Let me know 🙂

    Custom Texboxes seems great! maybe the developers of Power BI should remove then the Card or Multi Row Card, since compared to these Texboxes they seem obsolete. Otherwise the list of visuals will be longer and longer. Of course take into account visuals that were made with older versions...

    • @HowtoPowerBI
      @HowtoPowerBI  3 роки тому

      get your point 🙂 , although they have some functionalities that you can't achieve with just customising the textboxes. I think that opens a whole new discussion on what visualisations should be there as a default option vs moved to the market place. Although you can always unpin / pin the visuals as you like it.

    It's really weird but I don't see this smart narrative under my Preview Features. And I have a newer version Version: 2.84.981.0 64-bit (August 2020)

    • @HowtoPowerBI
      @HowtoPowerBI  3 роки тому +1

      you need to upgrade to the new september version (2.85.681.0 64-bit (September 2020)) 🙂

    I need some help with using measures that contain filtering in the logic. For example, I have formatted my measure for % change you to the following, but its not picking it up.
    v1: This one is working.
    Text_HC%ChangeYoY_Global =
    VAR PercentChange = [_HC%ChangeYoY_Global]
    RETURN
    SWITCH( True (),
    PercentChange >= 0, "increased by " & CONCATENATE( ROUND( PercentChange * 100, 1), "%"),
    PercentChange < 0, "decreased by " & CONCATENATE( ROUND ( PercentChange * -100, 1), "%"),
    PercentChange = BLANK(), "",
    BLANK() )
    v2: This one is not (and unfortunately the rest of my measures have filtering logic) - It is the same base measure for Global except with the filtering of the a DIM table for home country = USA
    Text_HC%ChangeYoY_USA =
    VAR PercentChange = [_HC%ChangeYoY_USA]
    RETURN
    SWITCH( True (),
    PercentChange >= 0, "increased by " & CONCATENATE( ROUND( PercentChange * 100, 1), "%"),
    PercentChange < 0, "decreased by " & CONCATENATE( ROUND ( PercentChange * -100, 1), "%"),
    PercentChange = BLANK(), "",
    BLANK() )
    with _HC%ChangeYoY_USA =
    _HC%ChangeYoY_USA = DIVIDE( [_HC USA], [_HC USA PY] ) - 1

    where _HC USA =
    VAR MinDate = MIN( Calendar_FY_To2025[Fiscal_BOP] )
    VAR MaxDate = MAX( Calendar_FY_To2025[End of Month] )
    VAR Headcount =
    CALCULATE(
    COUNTROWS( Actives_Mthly ),
    FILTER(
    VALUES( Actives_Mthly[File.Capture.Date] ),
    Actives_Mthly[File.Capture.Date] = MaxDate
    ),
    FILTER( 'Home Country DIM',
    'Home Country DIM'[Global_Label] = "USA" )
    )
    RETURN
    Headcount
    Any guidance on what I am doing wrong?
