      Jake Stewart Music that's because you can move the signal before or after the original signal. with a flanger pedal is can only phase after the signal

    This brought back a lot of memories. Flanging with this simple a tape setup will never be as deep as a digital effect. When they are in sync they are also in phase and the only effect is an increase in volume. If you invert one copy when you mix 50/50 the levels go down instead, leaving only the flanging. You get a more accurately mix that way.

    Now to get the full old school effect. Mix that on a 1960's vintage all tube EMI REDD mixing desk :D. And love the Studer two track :).

    Really cool! How do you fade in the flanger effect without overtly increasing the volume?

      I imagine that the best way to go about that is cross fading between the flange track and the master track.
