This brought back a lot of memories. Flanging with this simple a tape setup will never be as deep as a digital effect. When they are in sync they are also in phase and the only effect is an increase in volume. If you invert one copy when you mix 50/50 the levels go down instead, leaving only the flanging. You get a more accurately mix that way.
One of, if not, THE COOLEST guitar effects out there (studio effect first but obviously used a lot for guitars). This is awesome thank you!
This sounds so much cooler and more musical to me than flanger pedals
Jake Stewart Music that's because you can move the signal before or after the original signal. with a flanger pedal is can only phase after the signal
Look at through zero flangers
Nice demonstration, nice song too!
Omega alumni here, great job man, good timing and thanks for sharing =) I miss that place. Great people

Now to get the full old school effect. Mix that on a 1960's vintage all tube EMI REDD mixing desk :D. And love the Studer two track :).
Really cool! How do you fade in the flanger effect without overtly increasing the volume?
I imagine that the best way to go about that is cross fading between the flange track and the master track.
Use a limiter.
Thank you Saxophonic. Yes, that is an SSL 4000 E/G+.
This was also done on The Eagles Life In The FasT Lane, and The Doobie Bros. LisTien To The Music.
