  • THIS IS A HUNTING VIDEO. VIEWER DISCRETION ADVISED.
Little did I know this at the time but it was to be my last hunt before Covid 19 lockdown. I was keen to test out some new Kings trail cameras and compare them to my older Maginon/Aldi. This video features the results and my thoughts on these cameras so far. I hope you find it of interest and please give me feedback on results of similar trail cameras that you have used. Thanks again for watching

Thanks for the honest review. A tip worth sharing I learnt from the The Hunting Public (THP) team was, as an extra check of the camera's view after installing, using the camera on your phone, put it on reverse and hold the phone up against the trail camera, and then you can see what angles etc.. the trail cam is likely to capture.

    G'day there Mr Robbo,
Firstly champ, I love the shout out you did to Profty, I have a "very similar" orange hat.
Mate, at the start of the second lock down, I knew I wouldn't see the scrub again for a spell. So I bought a Swann trail cam from Bunnings of all places. Truth be told, I didn't do too much research on it as the shops were shut and it was my only option apart from online shopping.
I set it up on a great walking track near me in Austral past Liverpool. There is a place called "Shale Hills dog park", there is a designated dog park, and and then a massive walking track that forms part of the Western Parklands that stretches all the way past Mt Druitt.
I have set it up in a number of places both to see what was about, and to try and learn how to operate it properly too.
The battery life is excellent. It takes up to 8 AA batteries. 4 in the actual camera, and 4 in the backing plate.
The first time I put it out I put it too close to some leaves off a tree and the camera snapped all the flicking around of the leaves. When I collected it two days Larter, no lie there was over 3500 pics taken. Even after that the battery was 100%.
The night vision is pretty good, but the flash or glare factor is a problem sometimes.
I have put the link to my Facebook page below, I post the best pics on my page as a way of keeping my love affair with the scrub alive when locked down, as well as to kill the boredom.

G'day Bart. The Lockdown has certainly tested us all and I for one am certainly over it but we just have to make the best of a bad situation. You are not the first that has mentioned the Swann cameras to me and most people have been quite happy with them. It comes down to value for money for me without spending too much on something that could possibly go walkabout. Stay well mate.

Hi Robbo, I bought 3 of the Kings cameras earlier this year. All 3 have way too much over exposure on the daytime pics, even more than your pics. Video is ok as is nightime pics. I only use them in the video mode now. I checked them only last week and 2 out of the 3 were on the ground as the plastic brackets at the back that hold the straps had broken. I saw a comment that one guy here uses the Swann cams from bunnings. I have 2 of these also and they function fine so far. they were twice the cost of the Kings cams but are worth it at $149.00.
I run several other cameras as well. I paid $350.00 each for Bushnell cams about 10yrs ago and they are still going strong. Anyway thanks for your review and happy hunting.

Another Good vid on affordable gear. I have had a Bunnings Swann cam for 3 years. I leave it up bush for months at a time, copped all sorts of weather, pp high country.
Battery always lasted, good pics and vids.

Hey mate, few years back I was using lillacorn and managed to pick them up from ebay for $150 each. A little more than what you paid but the quality was great on both photos and video. Battery life was excellent and they were left out for 3 or so weeks at a time. Unfortunately both were stolen which is a shame as you like to think that fellow hunters are honest. Both had access codes so fingers crossed they weren’t able to access and use them. The first week it worked no problems when I checked so then I left it out for about 6-7 weeks. Checked again and didn’t even bloody work. Was pretty pissed off. Great high resolution images with a good trigger range. I also use the Signify Aldi camera which takes great photos and has a massive battery life (6 months in the bush on the one set of batteries). I've also used the Ltl Acorn, Gerber 3G and 4G and our latest one is the Spy Point 4G. The Gerber are quiet hard to set up the sending of images to email.
