i was trying to remember the name of that show for DECADES. I watched a couple of episodes of Quark back when I was 9 years old....eyes glued to the TV because of the Twins. Thanks for this update. Who remembers that show Tenspeed and Brownshoe?
Many years ago my father who was a commercial artist worked on some of their photos. Cyb Barnstable was lying on the couch. She looked very good. Need I say more
This brings back so many memories. Every Friday night I would stop by my friend's apartment and we would watch Quark and get absolutely wasted...Ahhh ..to relive those days . Now I am much older but I don,t think to much wiser..
Loved Quark and could not find anybody else who remembered it for years! Those twins were the second reason I watched it. The first was simply because it was a space show! I really wish it had lasted a little longer and become more well known and part of the pop culture firmament. Glad you keep following up on all these shows and people Dave!
Wow that is great for 70 years old. They look more beautiful now than they did back in the day! I vaguely remember Quark but I do remember the twins. I remember that show with fond memories, as friends of mine would gather on Friday night at my parents house. We would watch the show and then head out on the town for various fun activities.
I remember Quark as the first show I watched that I was bothered when they cancelled it. Video like this remind me of certain things I had forgotten about it. Maybe it makes more sense now as an adult. As for Tim Thomerson, you could easily do a whole video just on him. Good stuff Dave.
Your mission, Dave, I believe, is to pay back all the great childhood memories you have by focusing on obscure shows and long-forgotten actors and giving them a few moments in the spotlight again--while making us remember why the 70s & 80s were the two best decades to be a kid. You ALWAYS give every actor the respect and appreciation Hollywood can't or won't; THAT, my friend, is a gift, and I am so humbled and blessed that you decided to share it with us. Thank you.
I loved Quark and also remembered the twins in the gum commercials. I worked with computers at Brooks AFB in 1980 where there was a Star Trek type game program(written in APL) that had a garbage scow for one of the ships. Everybody that played it referred to it as Quark's ship. There were a lot of people that worked there that had watched Quark. 🚀
I have not thought of this show for decades, I am glad you reminded me of it, because as a kid I really loved it. Beyond the Barnstable twins who were great eye candy, my other favorite character was the robot, it was so funny.
I lived in Lexington while the Barnstable twins where UK cheerleaders. They were the object(s) of my attention for sure. I didn't know they made a TV show. Thanks for the video, Dave!
The things you learn years later about people. I grew up in KY (Louisville), but never realized the Barnstable women started the Brownstable gala. That is just cool!
Loved this show & these ladies. Gene/Jean was my favorite - he was so cute. I know one of the twins was an NFL cheerleader - for the Raiders, maybe. I always wondered what happened to the twins - so pretty & talented. Now I know. They look fabulous at any age! I really love your channel - informative & fun!
I really love your channel and all of the effort you put in it!! The older pic of the twins with the long blonde hair was stunning! Is this what they look like in their 70's?!!
Quark was shown here in Australia on the ABC a government channel the Barnstable twins were lovely and still are i bought the series on dvd years ago its now out of print and has gone up in value
Loved Quark. This reminded me of the Mel Brooks movie "Spaceballs", because there was a scene with a set of blond twins and in a moment of frustration Brook's character told them to "chew your gum!". I thought he might be referring to the Barnstables, turns out the twins in the movie, who's last names are Gallup, were also In a Doublemint commercial. I didn't know they used other twins in the commercials until now.
Loved hearing about them as I am an 82 year old ky female. We're they from a wealthy family. Why did they not go further in show biz as they had so many connections. I would like to subscribe to your posts and will watch all the ads
I LOVED that show and was so disappointed when it ended. I recall one episode when one of the twins insisted to the Richard Benjamin character that she was the real person and the other one was the clone. They were possibly my favorite part of the show. Thank you.
Hey Dave I don't not remember this twins but anyways every time you send something for me it got to be great outstanding so they thank you keep up what you're doing you doing an outstanding job and bless you all your family Thanksgiving too take care bye
I was just a kid when Quark came out and I remember liking it. I had no idea it bombed until our local newspaper said so. Thanks for this and would love to chat more. In fact, a while ago I caught up with Wizards and Warriors believing it to be related to some sword and sorcery show I saw a trailer of in the 80s. But I'm not that sure. Were there other sword and sorcery shows in that era?
Yes, I remember Quark, Dave. Also, the character named "Ficus", a plant-guy, of course the Barnstable twins. Both still look good for over 70! Good to know they're great people and doing good for others. Quark was played mostly for laughs. But, I enjoyed it. Thanks, for taking me back.
I remember watching Quark when it came out. It came out right after the first Star Wars. The whole world was crazy for any science fiction. It drove my brother and me crazy because we would wait all week for Quark and it got pre-empted more than it was shown. I was so young at the time, I was much more interested in the plastic robot than the twins.
Believe it or not...the pilot for Quark PRECEDED Star Wars by a couple of weeks!!! Despite the potential flop that some believed Star Wars was going to be...many had already jumped on the Sci-Fi train...Quark was one of the first. Maybe they knew something about Star Wars...didn't help them, unfortunately... One of the episodes is, in fact, called "May the Source Be With You"...and several others were near-direct parodies of Star Trek episodes. So...maybe it was more of a Star Trek homage...and they just happened to beat Star Wars to the punch. Who knows???
I vaguely remember the show but I do remember the Wrigley's Gum commercials. Just good to see they're doing alright and still amazingly gorgeous. I wished their acting careers weren't cut short. I always thought they had potential. But I'll still admit from time to time you pull one from the depths that a lot of us (including me) would keep on forgetting.
While growing up ( as a teen ) in the 70's, I barely remember Quark. I do remember the twins though. Thanks for the update. P.S.... I'm in my early 60's now. Lol...
Thanks for posting Dave. I don't remember them as I don't remember the show but they do look good! I need to ask Dave if you did a video on the Landers (Judi and Audrey) sisters, whom I definitely remember.
Quark came out when I was 8. I loved it. I just recently watched all 8 episodes, you can easily find them on UA-cam. I stand by my 8 year old self. Quark is a lot of laughs. Andy the cowardly robot. Gene / Jean acting real tough one second and not wanting to ruin his/her nails the next. The twins constantly vying for quark’s attention and arguing about who’s the clone. And richard Benjamin just trying to navigate through all the lunacy surrounding him. Fun show that needs a reboot
In the pilot show you can see one of the twins move her face away from the tube when they all were sitting down to eat. A small booper but I remember it well. And Thanks Dave I never knew what ever happen to them but I do remember see them on the love boat.
They Taught a cheerleading camp on Bellerman College campus in Louisville Kentucky with the rest of their cheer squad. I think the summer after my fifth grade year. It was so much fun they were cheerleaders at u of k.
"Bad ass space babes" there's an awesome turn of phrase. Also, nice companion video to the other video about "Qurk"! Furthermore, I don't know about anyone else; I can't speak for them - however, I always so appreciate it when you highlight the charitable efforts of the people you're profiling in a given video. Finally, may I make a suggestion, (and I don't know, you may be already doing this and if so I need to pay more close attention...) However, I was thinking that perhaps you could make it a practice to put links to the charitable efforts of the specific people you're profiling in the given in the "description section" of the videos every time. So that viewers can easily donate to that charity, if they so wish...?🙂
I did watch 'Quark', probably for all of its brief run. Can't remember what drove me to try it other than the fact that my father knew of the Barnstable Twins. I seem to recall that it was a pretty silly show. Both my father and mother attended U.K. and became friends with Jack and Joan Ruby Tingle. Jack had been a big star on the U.K. Basketball Team, and Dale Barnstable (the twin's father) was also. Maybe through Jack Tingle, was all that dad knew about the Barnstables.
The last time I remember seeing them was on The Love Boat. That photo you showed of them in recent years, the twin on the right looks like Susan Anton.
Don't remember these two nearly so much as the Brough twins from B.J. and the Bear or the Harris twins from such delightful video store fare as Sorceress. Don't even remember the show, which is odd because I was all over anything even tangentally related to space or sci-fi in general. Truthfully, my biggest twin-crush growing up were Jean and Liz Sagal from Double Trouble and, um, Grease 2.
Quark was my favorite Sci Fi show of all time. I was SO bummed when they cancelled it. It was so wonderfully campy and just plain FUN to watch. The situations were SO bizarre, and SO off the wall. It was to the Sci Fi genre what Get Smart was to the international spy genre. And every BIT as good in that role I might add.
Ha! I love it that you mentioned Alice Cooper’s song Clones. Loved that album (Flush The Fashion) as it was his jump into new wave music. Frankly it was his last good album from that era. Thanks for this video. Great content as always.
They looked familiar, but I couldn't place them, than you mentioned the Double mint gum...ding-dong, I remember now! Its good to hear that they are still doing well, and raising money for such an important cause. 🌼
I can just remember this very short lived U.S series , and yes I thought it was alright, but with so few episodes made , It never really stood a chance, such a shame....
The Barnstable twins might just be the most beautiful pair of twins I’ve ever seen. The Landers sisters are beautiful too but these girls take the cake!
Landers(es?) are ineligible...LOL...they're NOT twins. The Barnstables are gorgeous...but I think Candi and Randi Brough give them a run for their money. Steve Martin was ONE "lucky" Lonely Guy... Third place (more in the "cute" division...) would be Liz and Jean Sagal from Double Trouble...big sis Katey is no slouch either! You know them from Grease 2 (ouch!) and their own sitcom Double Trouble; sort of a grown-up Olsen Twins....BEFORE the Olsen Twins! AND they were also Doublemint twins too!
I’m from Louisville and I attended high school with the twins’ younger brother. We both graduated in 1976. Their last name is pronounced just as it’s spelled - “Barn” “Stable” - “Barnstable”. Their father was Dale Barnstable and he was a basketball player of note at the University of Kentucky. The Barnstable-Brown Gala has been THE party during the Kentucky Derby festivities. Wasn’t always a diabetes fundraiser. Great video!
Nope. That was Candi and Randi Brough. Fonzie did like him some...TWINS!!! And guess what? Both Judy and Audrey Landers were on Happy Days (separately). If you were a very pretty blonde with mediocre acting skills in the 70s....you made the rounds. See??? Not confusing at all....LOL
I’m a twin. And as a twin, I notice other twins. I don’t remember them. I do remember the Segal twins of the NBC show Double Trouble. I believe they were Doublemint twins as well. Can you go a video on them as well? Thank you.
I will definitely do something on Katie's little sisters. And yes, I do believe that they were in Doublemint commercials as well. Thanks for the suggestion, Cindee!
@@jdsundstrom I don't know, you could probably do one for each year the commercials were made. There are plenty of both guys and girls. Also, have you done the Landers sisters? Take that any way you like ;P Also, how about twins that played one person like the Olsen twins. Just some thoughts. BTW, your shows are great! I really enjoy them. I'm a bit of a nostalgia nut myself. I only perform songs of the 50's 60's and 70's
I've been aware of Quark since reading an article about the show in a very early edition of Starburst magazine way back in 1978; however, I've never seen the show, and I don't believe it ever ran here in the U.K. The situation of the Betties not knowing which one of them is the clone mirrors real life, in that one of Barnstable twins developed from an original fertilized egg, and the other one is developed from the cells that broke away from the original, and there is no way to tell (thus far) whom developed from which.
Yes, I remember Quark! Loved the show, it left too early! (Wasn't Jean's name "Gen Jean, or Jeane Gene, because of the double gender? Or am I mixing him/her up with the dancing machine from The Gong Show? 😆)
I loved Quark! Cancelled way too soon in my opinion! Nice to see they are doing ok! And boy do they look good for their age! Holy youth serum Batman! Diabetes, that's a scary thing. I am diabetic myself and when I hear of people dying from complications due to diabetes, I admit ti scares me a bit! Still that aside, looks like they are doing good and that's whats really important! My best to them both!
As a kid, I really liked Quark. I was too young to understand why it never came back on. Also, Clones (We're All) is an awesome tune. A bit "off brand" for Alice, but perfect for it's era.
I remember them really well a preteen and early teen when they did most of their tv Appearances so they made a big impression on me You should do a spot on Bob Barker and the early Price is Right he will be 98 in a few days I have been watching the Price is Right from the early 80s on Pluto tv it brings back memories of saying home from school on sick days and watching it school off days I have even seen a couple I saw when they were new almost 40 years ago
I gotta say, I never heard of Quark, I would have remembered those gals. Yes, they still look great. Kudos to them for raising money for diabetes research. As always, enjoyed the video Dave. 👍
I never watched the barnstable twins Dave not familiar with them they were both very attractive women twins gorgeous women they were so it was a space show like star trek cool looked like it I need to check them out look them up I love wrigleys gum chewing gum cork and his crew cool love space shows I'm sure most people watched it cause of the barnstable twins blonde babes lol 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂need to watch cork thanks for sharing on whatever happened to them sharing the info great video Dave 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍

Loved that show it wasn't on very long but it was fun.
Just 8 episodes...gosh darn it!
Ha! I love it that you mentioned Alice Cooper’s song Clones. Loved that album (Flush The Fashion) as it was his jump into new wave music. Frankly it was his last good album from that era. Thanks for this video. Great content as always.
"Flush the Fashion" rocks!
They looked familiar, but I couldn't place them, than you mentioned the Double mint gum...ding-dong, I remember now!
Its good to hear that they are still doing well, and raising money for such an important cause. 🌼
Thanks for the comment, Karenlee!
I can just remember this very short lived U.S series , and yes I thought it was alright, but with so few episodes made , It never really stood a chance, such a shame....
I remember that gum commercial well!!❤❤ Hope you had a great Thanksgiving Dave!❤👍
You too Robert!
@@axelkyster2642 I never stated they were twins, just sisters.
Somewhere in the past that family must have been very involved in farming and livestock.....Barn-Stable
I think you must be right, RB.
Yes to Quark and the twins.
I think they were also in an episode of Happy Days. 😊
Wow, short lived is right! I don't remember that show at all. And vaguely remember these women!
I wasn’t a fan but remember them 😂😂😂
I loved QUARK and the Clone Twins were so hot. Bought it on DVD it was only one DVD to get the whole series but it is so fun . I so wanted the twins.
I honestly don't remember them, but I do remember the Sagal twins from "Double Trouble". Have you considered doing s video on them?
I have. Thanks for the reminder.
I’m a twin. And as a twin, I
notice other twins.
I really loved Betty over Betty on the show Quark. I loved the show itself and wish that I could find all the episodes!!!!
You should do a show on all the doublemint twins :)
Great idea. Which ones? 🙂
I remember Quark, but not in detail. I do remember being unsurprised when it was axed.
I remember they were a big deal back in the late 70s for that short time. The Doublemint Twins and the Bettys. ❤️
I never knew of that show, I will see if it's on ROKU, Thanks
Yes, I remember Quark! Loved the show, it left too early! (Wasn't Jean's name "Gen Jean, or Jeane Gene, because of the double gender? Or am I mixing him/her up with the dancing machine from The Gong Show? 😆)
Badass Space Babes was the name of my Spice Girls cover band in the 80's.
Love it!
good day buddy. i remember quark and the twins.
Their last name is BARNS-table. Growing up, my neighbor’s aunt dated their dad.
Richard Benjamin (Quark) is married to Paula Prentiss. She was one of the best actresses of the 70's.
As a kid, I really liked Quark. I was too young to understand why it never came back on. Also, Clones (We're All) is an awesome tune. A bit "off brand" for Alice, but perfect for it's era.
None of my family have any memory of that show . The twins are beautiful at their age .
I remember them really well a preteen and early teen when they did most of their tv Appearances so they made a big impression on me
You should do a spot on Bob Barker and the early Price is Right he will be 98 in a few days I have been watching the Price is Right from the early 80s on Pluto tv it brings back memories of saying home from school on sick days and watching it school off days I have even seen a couple I saw when they were new almost 40 years ago
Love this
I have the Quark series on DVD
I gotta say, I never heard of Quark, I would have remembered those gals.
Yes, they still look great. Kudos to them for raising money for diabetes research.
As always, enjoyed the video Dave. 👍
Thanks.
You can watch "Quark" right here on UA-cam, Cade.
Always thought they were from Cape Cod when I was a kid... as Barnstable is the biggest town on The Cape!
Makes sense!
Great 😎
Thanks Mike!
