    I've always known the Atlas program had a rocky start, and seeing it in detail is awesome. Thanks for posting this series.

      Every rocket program has a rocky start. But it was uncharted waters for everyone back then

    That was Lyle Lovett at 12:08 before he hit it big on the country music scene.

    William Conrad narrates, beginning at 7:45.

    It’s astonishing the rocket stayed intact for as long as it did knowing the aluminum skin was so thin. I really thought it’d blow immediately after first +/ deviation.

      Ps, like the “projector” effect. I didn’t realize it was artificial until viewers posted about it negatively. Not only is it a nice touch, I appreciate the effort you made to make videos like this available.

    Well done, value added. The SDASM footage is a treasure trove but yours helps to tell the story. Centaur next?

    Can you repost these videos without the annoying flicker film projector noise you added in?

    The flicker noise jumps from scene to scene without hiccup, showing it's fake, just to add to your "effect" ! Good film, doesn't need your personal 'touch' . We're not watching MASH here!

    Hope there's a good engineering history book to read because these movies don't satisfy, have gaps in sequence worthy of politicians!

      What goes up must come down. Max chemical rocket velocity is 6660 mph. Can't get to 17,500 mph. No low Earth orbit. Parabolic arches only. No thrust in a vacuum. Sorry to burst your high altitude bubble.

    • @thosefabulouschartierboys6987
      @thosefabulouschartierboys6987 5 років тому

      @@timmoles9259 Chemical rockets will accelerate until they run out of chemicals. Vacuum is irrelevant to speed, but is relevant to engine design/efficiency.
