Just ordered my first Esthetic Ants setup w/ a Messor barbarus Colony. Super excited to get it in and start my Ant Journey! Thanks to your videos I didnt spend a ton of money on my first setup. Esthetic Ants is easily the most cost-efficient site to buy from.
stabbing the needle through the mess wasn't needed, this can actually cause smaller species to escape via the mesh. The mesh is in layers and it goes through the seemingly 'closed' layer of 3D print, in most cases this is actually better as well, as it will cause too much humidity to go into the nest otherwise like for Camponotus maculatus this isn't needed at all, they don't like too much humidity xD
Thanks for the Info - I was going to ask you for some "early on Maculatus tips" anyway 😃 I thought that with Maculatus widening the holes won't be an issue, since they are so big, but for smaller species people need to be careful. That being said I would not suggest these specific nests for extremely small species in the first place.
Feel free to give us some Maculatus tips here, so other viewers get an added value too! Thanks in advance - I know you have a huge Camp. Maculatus colony 🐜🐜🐜
@@AntsVienna I have two maculatus colonies actually :) one being the dark morph like yours and one being the light morph. I recommend a stable temperature of 26c, no additional hydration is needed as long as fresh drinking water is available. I usually don't recommend moving them to a nest until they have a minimum of 60 to 100 workers. Other than that its pretty much feed heat and repeat with them :D
@@AntsVienna I raised mine in a tube and then went to a mini hearth with my first colony, my second colony has been in tubs and tubes and then went into a gypsum nest
Nope, it's Camponotus, but not Sanctus. Thank you for the support - i'm currently preparing the infrastructure so I can deliver you videos regularly :)
It is better to have your ants grow slower and organically. Moving your colony in a formicarium too soon can actually harm them. Here is a video where i talk about that😉 ua-cam.com/video/OIFwRNQEQvU/v-deo.html&ab_channel=AntsVienna
@@AntsVienna won't be moving them for a long long time permitting no mold growth im hopeful a small feeding outworld once they are at 50 to 100 works will help stop that , thanks ill watch it now
Hello there Mefreji! Well, the most fascinating thing about ant keeping for me is when ant mating season starts and I go out looking for Queen ants. I really enjoy catching them myself and growing them into fine colonies. Here is how I look for Queen Ants 😉🐜 ua-cam.com/video/oYa63Qh1usw/v-deo.html&ab_channel=AntsVienna

Hello there - Yes, It is a Camponotus species. I've actually croos-mentioned it in my last video 😉 ua-cam.com/video/PJb51Bt39ls/v-deo.html&ab_channel=AntsVienna

im so happy to see new ant videos. I am so tired of waiting for ant season to start again!
I can totally understand you. But even (native) ants need some rest, so they can be all active soon 😉🐜
Good vídeos bro i am new sub. Greeting from Spain 🇪🇦
Thank you Ivan - welcome on board! 😃🐜
Nice Video! :)
Thank you - much appreciated! 👍
Nice video keep going!!
Thank you and you stay tuned :)
Great video
Thanks! I've been getting many questions on esthetic ants, so I decided to make this video
I think it’s a camponotus sanctus, really nice videos. I every morning check on UA-cam if you have a new video
Nope, it's Camponotus, but not Sanctus. Thank you for the support - i'm currently preparing the infrastructure so I can deliver you videos regularly :)
Great video just wondering the tubing size
Hello there I think the tubing is around 10mm on the inside. So plenty for the rather big camponotus ants
Finally a new video. Is it Camponotus decipiens?
Nope. Camponotus Yes, Decipiens No. You can find a clue in my last video 😉
@@AntsVienna Maculatus?
Btw amazing videos
Thanks, glad you like them👍

How's the ant experiment going
The native ant species (including Lasius Flavus colonies) are still hibernating. I expect to have news, in form of a video, around May 😉🐜

Yes, correct! It's the second colony EA sent me 👍
Is it maculatus? I know because I kept this species before
