Those 40's style SuperSpeeds may be the best bargains in the vintage Gillette DE razor market. For those with an average beard and skin that is not "sensitive", like me, I like it with a sharpish and smooth blade, like the Nacet or Wizamet. Sorry to hear about the emergent chemical sensitivity of your wife. You might want to try making up your own unscented AS, or switching to straight witch hazel. For Winter, I really like the unscented mentholated Stirling balm. The ingredients list is pretty simple. It is inexpensive. And, it works a treat. I have had coworkers with multiple chemical sensitivity in the past, and discontinued the use of all perfumed products during that time. I am not really a frag head anyway, and heavy scents used to inflame my hayfever (which I rarely experience anymore), so I didn't view this as a sacrifice. It was necessary, so I made that change. Some people react to perfumes, some to particular essential oils, some to everything. The only way to get to the bottom of it is through trail and error. It seems to correlate to heavy metal body burden, hormonal imbalance, and exposure to endocrine disruptors. An air purifier in the bedroom might help quiet down the sensitivity.
They definitely are great razors. I'm sure we'll figure out why my wife suddenly has scent issues with my splashes. It probably has something to with her nervous system disorder. Thanks for watching and for commenting Iver Mec-Tin. Have a great week.
Glad I caught this one! Great video and interesting razor. I have a black tip from that era, but the markings don’t look quite the same. Good luck figuring that one out!!
Thanks Aaron! It's definitely an interesting Razor. This is the razor it looks like, same markings and all except mine is gold. www.mr-razor.com/Rasierer/One-Piece%20solid%20guard%20bar/1951%20(W1)%20Canadian%20Rocket.JPG
Killer shave! My wife blind bought me this set for Xmas last year, in v3, and has become a family favorite scent. Big fan of macduffs but have not tried v4 yet. I absolutely love the old gillettes. They are some of my favorite razors.
Thanks Brent! It's definitely a really great scent, I should use it more often. V4 is one of my favorite bases now, definitely try it when you get a chance. The vintage Gillette Canadian and British are awesome razors. Superior to the US ones IMO.
Great shave Lyle!! Gillette are cool… Canadian Gillette’s are even cooler!! Absolutely love the scent on this soap, and this base is unreal… soooo good! Have a great week ahead brother!!
@@thesaskshaver you’re most welcome brother! Gotta represent Canada where we can eh!! And happy to help be the inspiration for this shave, I’ll be using this one this week sometime as well!
Thanks Trevor! Most of my vintage razors have come from many frequent trips to antique stores pre covid. I'd go to the local places 3 or 4 times a month, and I'd stop and shops in the small towns I drove through for work. Past that, online. The main ones being Etsy and eBay. Also the FB Market Place or BST groups.
I have one just like that. It's an X 1 but no marking to say where it's made, unlike all of the others. Does yours have where it's made? I think it could be a Milord but it's hard to find out information on some of the Gillette razors.
Here is what it looks to be the closest to in my research. Only difference is colour. www.mr-razor.com/Rasierer/One-Piece%20solid%20guard%20bar/1951%20(W1)%20Canadian%20Rocket.JPG
Thanks Chris! I'm going to figure out the scent issue with my wife. I think it may have something to do with her nervous system disorder. Hopefully, it's just a temporary thing. Have a great week.
Have you given up making shave videos? Great shave.

Eyyyy Lyle! Good to see you using a DE razor too. I am so accustomed to your SR shaves. Have a great week my brother!
Thanks Mel! Once in a harvest moon I still use a DE😁. Have a great week brother!
Very cool dude, wicked razor!
Thanks Rick!
Nice shave Lyle. I’ve been looking at more vintage razors. Any advice on some good places to look for them?

Just says Gillette and W 2 on the back plate, no markings anywhere else.

Nice shave Lyle. Sorry to hear your wide reacts to some of the aftershaves. I have to go light at times for the same reason.
