    I like Tom doing the FLD tours. He's got a good personality, voice, and good flow. I personally could use some more tech info... but I understand thats not for everyone. Overall one of the better FLD tours.

    I'm just sick of SUVs like Land Rover, Escalade, Tahoe, etc. being called "trucks", there's no point in calling them that. When I think of a truck, I think of pickups, semis, etc. Can anyone relate???

      I have this same Rover. It's a truck when I need it to be, and it's a sedan when I need it to be that. It's both.

      I agree. I own an H2(not SUT) have had it for 11years. So many people call it a truck.. is not. Is an off-road capable SUV. Also have had two Range Rovers. Not trucks. Not saying one is better than the other. Different purpose. Unless... grab them by the *#%^^

    I would argue that a Rubicon is actually better off road than is. Solid axles front and rear, mud terrains come on it standard, it has a front locker, and it's got much better approach and departure angles. Other than that, it was a great review.

      ***** The Land Rover Discovery Will Destroy Any Jeep

    • @mustang9718
      @mustang9718 10 років тому

      Gaming 4 Ohio you mean Defender, right? Discos are okay but definatley not as capable as a Rubi.

    • @Gaming4Ohio
      @Gaming4Ohio 9 років тому +1

      Robbie Pulford Discos, Defenders and Range Rovers will destroy a wrangler without a doubt! 12 Inches of ground clearance in off road height wrangler 10 inches, Land Rovers can tow 8000 Pounds wrangler can tow 2500 pounds, can go through 900mm of water, Far better 4x4 system and is in 4x4 24/7, 550 HP 0-60 4.5 secs the 5.0 V8 would make a wrangler crawl in a hole.

    • @mustang9718
      @mustang9718 9 років тому

      Gaming 4 Ohio Gameplay's & More yes, a range rover has a bigger, better engine with more horsepower and has a faster 0-60, but those don't really matter off road. A wrangler literally has nearly double the approach and departure angle of a range rover. It has a much better break over angle and it has solid axles and sway bar disconnects that provide much more flex in the suspension than the independent suspension in a range rover could ever dream of. It's short wheel base also provides a better turning circle and it's smaller size allows it to traverse over more trails. All of this and I haven't even brought up the fact that it can be modified very easily for not very much. You could buy a wrangler, lift it 6.5 inches, put it on 37's, add a snorkel, and it would drive circles around a range rover and still cost significantly less, you could probably even throw a hemi swap in there and still be less than a range rover.

    For me here in Texas, a truck has a bed or otherwise open loading area (but not like a Ranchero or El Camino). This, along with almost everything else, is an SUV. Just my opinion.

    Tom Albrecht here - Thanks for all the comments! Let me address two items I've noticed that has caused some issue - I apologize for the overuse of the term "truck" it's a colloquial habit that 1.) is a local (for me) term used for anything that isn't a car 2.) a habit that I need to break - so there you have it. The second thing is this - the Wrangler comment is accurate to a point from first hand experience at a driving event where the Range Rover and Wrangler were present. The Wrangler will handle almost everything just as well as the range rover, HOWEVER, beyond some mechanical differences the clearance underneath the differentials is slightly lower and tend to rub more then the Range Rover which has a higher ride height at the maximum suspension setting. For reference: Jeep Wrangler Sahara has 10.6 inches and the Range Rover’s adjustable suspension increases clearance to 11.6 inches - which while rock crawling or off-roading makes a difference. Also - I'm not an off road expert nor will ever claim to be one so if there are some bits of information you want to school me on - please do, I am always interested in learning more because it's a fun driving experience!

      People in America call them trucks so as to point out their size.
      If you were ever in a Ford Raptor you would understand this. The term SUV can also mean very small vehicles today and that is why people use truck.
      A lot of this also comes from the fact that picks years ago where like mini trucks.

    No doubt, this is one of the most capable stock vehicles off road, but when you said that it can go places a Rubicon couldn't I puked a little. That is completely false and no where near the truth. Not only could the RR not compete with the Rubicon in extreme off road scenarios, but it couldn't hold a candle to my Grand Cherokee either. Solid axles make a huge difference off road.

      Take a look at the 3 minute mark and onward, it is a Discovery tho (or LR3 for you in the US) it puts the Jeep to shame, and come on mate do NOT compare a Land Rover with a Cherokee please, cherokees are absolute city vehicles nowadays.

    • @henrykincaid6821
      @henrykincaid6821 10 років тому +3

      If you lose speed while going up a very steep hill in a wrangler, it will struggle but in Range Rover it isn't a problem as it has so much torque compared to power output.

    • @TheoldSouth
      @TheoldSouth 10 років тому

      Jose Jaime the wrangler in that video wasn't a Rubicon and it had open diffs. The Discovery and Range Rover both have a very complicated limited slip four wheel drive system and some of them have lockers. You are comparing apples to oranges here. I agree with you when you say cherokees are city vehicles nowadays, but my Grand Cherokee is an 04 and that is the last year it had solid axles. It also has a v8, 3.73 gear ratio, and 272 ratio in the transfer case which puts down over 800ft/lbs of torque in low range. In addition to that, my jeep is equipped with limited slip varilok axles which behave very similarly to traditional lockers.

      @TheoldSouth 10 років тому +1

      ***** I am comparing the off road capability of my grand cherokee to the Range Rover. Even though my Jeep is luxurious inside and has lots of nice features it is still not going to compete with a Range in that category because it costs a lot less.

    so here's what they didn't tell you. I really really love range rovers. My friend has a discovery and the maintenance is out of this world. alot of the stuff has to be factory bought including a lot of their oils. I was totally taken aback when i checked it out then the mechanic told me it was waaaay more expensive for the range. The good news is if you can afford a $100,000.00 car then you can afford the maintenance. If yo're buying a used one beware.

    Love this review! Much better than the recent Lexus RC-F review. I can see the someone on Range Rover board of directors saying "Reginald, did he just say he was busting our balls?" LOL. Only thing I have issue with is the assumption that it can go places where the Wrangler Rubicon can't.

    best SUV on the market hands down. i have driven Cayenne's, GL's, ML's, Q7's, Q5's, X5's, X6's, and nothing compares. yes its a bit pricey but the quality of everything is phenominal (except the cameras they're like 240p maybe 360p at most).

    I don't see why whenever a Range Rover/Land Rover is reviewed the review is focused on off-road. No one that owns a Range Rover takes it off road. The only Land Rover that people take off-road is a mid 90s defender. Have you ever seen the type of people that own new Range Rovers? They think they are better then the common man. They aren't going to go anywhere with dirt. Just review it as a luxury SUV.

      First thing I did when I picked up mine was take it off road. My last one logged several hundred miles in the dirt and so will this one. Not sure why you're a hater of those who own these vehicles but those who have earned the money to buy one are entitled to do whatever they want with them including going off road as I do.

    • @coobeans43
      @coobeans43 9 років тому

      duaneadam Dont get all but hurt friend. Your in the 1% of Range Rover owners. Im glad you use you vehicle for what it is made for. Yeah its your money do what you please. But where i live everyone that owns a Range Rover is a stuck of piece of shit that thinks since they have a "better" vehicle and more money than the rest of us "simpletons" that they own the roads. Im not saying this is you but im "entitled" to my opinion just like you are "entitled" to do whatever you want with your money.

    • @duaneadam
      @duaneadam 9 років тому +2

      I can leave you with this and you can take it for what it's worth. Those who are able to spring for any six figure car would likely never visualize themselves as "simpletons". This isn't arrogance, it's a mindset that allows one to move forward in life. You may be surprised that those who you deem a "stuck piece of shit" may be more than willing to extend a hand and bring you along to their level. I would. Hatred and resentments are ankle braces. Try losing them and see where your life goes. Peace.

    First let me start by saying that I love the Range Rover sport..... But man did you oversell its offroad capabilities. In terms of pure capability it doesn't take a rocket scientist to understand that a Wrangler Rubicon unlike this review says would pretty much leave this thing for dead in the real rough stuff. Quite frankly a a bunch of other off road vehicles including Xterra 4x4 would also probably own this thing off road. Is it capable for a luxury car? yes. Is it really more capable than other vehicles that were primarily engineered to be capable off road... NO... is it better than a crossover... of course.

    Nice video; in my opinion, a carmaker should take pride of reaching those horsepower only if you improve the MPG. I would not justify it "if you can afford it"; we already know they can afford it; still, for me those values are unacceptable for XXI century car. As you well know, nowadays any carmaker can design and build cars with high HP (it doesn't impress me much, though); show me an equally spectacular MPG, then you will get my attention. Peace out.

    to be real no one buys these suvs to go offroad, maybe once in their life...so you drive it on asphalt as any other car...then definitely the porsche cayenne offers more on handling, performance and the price is almost the same...but you know your driving a porsche who is technologically superior and never lets you down..not a damn rover..
