I knew this trick when I was a kid. Al those years later I had 2 rubber bands, but I couldn't remember anymore how to perform this. Thanks to remind me.

Every year or so I like to watch (or read) someone explaining this trick so I can remind myself that I am apparently incapable of following instructions for doing magic tricks. If I really want to feel completely useless I look at those videos explaining how to do the classic pass.

The key to the pass is _don’t_ try to do it fast. Make speed part of your practice for sure but once you have the packets passing each other with ease you’ll do better focusing on angles and misdirection for performance. Good luck!

I'm playing this at .25 speed. I still don't see how it works. Topologically, we have two linked rings (left-fingers and band-1; right-fingers and band-2), they may not pass through each other, one anchor point (thumb) remains intact, and the other simply transfers to another finger on a contiguous part of the ring.

No professional or intermidiate (hobbiest magician) pushes it too hard 😂. This is among one of the oldest rubber band magic effects along with jumping bands. But like you it's deft a very visual and impossible effect. if your going to perform this deft practice practice practice! You want to be able to do the move flawlessly before showing anyone because the large action if pulling it back covers the small action of manipulating the band around your fingers but it you haven't practiced or are just not proficient at it then the spectator will see your finger switch. Smooth and fast and like he said come back and wait a few beats rubbing it together gently the one rubber band casts a shadow the makes it look like it's passing through right at the moment you seperate. I love watching other people's handlings of effects I always hope for something new or original in the handling or method but either way awesome job man. Also deft use the same color bands there is a rubber band made specifically for magic it's got a nice almost super soft feel and a great stretch , but for this effect you want to use tgese and make sure they are the same a slight variation in color or size will show the rubber band in the outside no matter how good your acting abilities are , thanks again! I Subbed.
