I got new glasses this year went to eye doctor for a checkup appointment for my eyes and he goes do you read a lot and I said yes I do why and he said keep it up because it’s actually a fact that reading helps keep your eyesight better if you have a lazy eye and I do have a lazy eye . I read 18 books since that appointment.
I love being here to watch your reading preferences evolve as you have evolved and experienced life because I'm on that journey, too. Honing in on what you enjoy and how it connects to real-life experiences and growth is really fun❤️ Also a big fan of Brittainy Cherry!
I love to think about what books I want to read at the start of the year. It gives me something exciting to look forward to, especially because I can get very sad after Christmas is over. Planning my tbr also helps me to reflect on what types of books didn't work for me. I don't know, I think I just love thinking about books! 💛
Homegoing is great! Every new chapter follows a different t member of the family through the generations and new themes are introduced. Excellent writing.
I loved House of Eve. Suggested reads" the Color Purple, which is written in letters. Their Eyes Were Watching God is so beautifully written. The Great Divide is on my TBR and so is All We Were Promised. I also liked Take my Hand. I have aolga Dies While Dreaming on my physical TBR. I also loved Black Cake, but I think yoh read that one. I can't remember.
I rated “Losin' Control” by Ladii Nesha 4.75 🌟 It was sooooo GOODT!!! And I absolutely fell in love with Czar! You will definitely enjoy it! I was hooked from the prologue!!!
I am indecisive about what I want to read for January. There were a few books from my fall TBR that I didn't get around to, so I may start with those. I also wanted to read Magnolia Parks before the year ended but it's not gonna happen lol so I may put that on my January "hopefuls" list. Sounds like you definitely picked some heavy hitters for January. Can't wait to hear your thoughts on them, especially House of Eve. One of my favorite reads this year.
I read Queenie a few years ago and loved it! It has mixed reviews but if you don’t mind messy characters who make questionable decisions, then it’s worth reading!
I love your reading evolution that you are sharing! Thats why I love reading…it can develop as much as we want it to! Homegoing❤ YOU will rate it 5 stars! Based on how you loved Yellow Wife this one packs a punch especially for being such a short novel!
I enjoyed “pardon my frenchie.” I fell in love with the couple and the dogs. It was such an adorable unexpected read. It was really good! There’s a book two coming out in 2025. I am excited to read it!🐩
At the beginning you saying that you know your taste so much better I agree with whole heartedly. It makes book shopping so much more fun when you’re not buying books just to be buying them. There one’s that you KNOW you’ll get to (eventually LOL) Thanks for adding to my forever growing TBR 😂 Perfect Peace will have you shooketh!!🫣 All these ALL are some great ones! Keep em coming!!🩷😜
The amount of books that I'm looking at on my shelf that are the same as the ones in this video are astounding! LOL it could be an issue, but I am not claiming that energy! HAHA I am so excited for reading in 2025. It is gonna be the year of fabulously awesome books, buying books when I feel like it, and taking the time to savor each one:) Cheers, Happy New Year and happy reading!!!!
In 2025, I have a lot of books that I am anticipating to read. I love fantasy, romance, literary fiction (historical), and thriller. I want to dip my toes into horror (I don't like it, but I want to try one of Stephen King's books). Anyhoo, my main reading goal for 2025 is to just enjoy the book that I'm reading. I don't just want to focus on a TBR, but focus on the enjoyment of the book, how it makes feel in the end. I do believe that this new year will not only bring new and exciting reads, but I feel that I truly find 5 stars books that is life changing. I hope that you're doing well and that you're having a wonderful holiday season. Take care, sweetie ❤📚❤📚
I loved Homegoing- it does jump timellines and has different POV but its so beautifully written. Each chapter was a new person and perspective. Through them you would learn what happened to the previous characters you left behind in other chapters. This was a bit frustrating at first but once you get deeper into reading the book, it becomes easy to distinguish who we are reading about. There is also a genealogy chart to help at the beginning of the book.
I’m so excited!!! I got an arc for Somebody’s Husband!!! My reading plans have definitely changed lol!!! In 2025 I’m going to dive into more romantasy books! I’m looking forward to Rebel Witch, Onyx Storm, and the Things God’s break. I’m also excited for Can’t get enough, Say you’ll remember me, and Deep!
Perfect Peace is wild. Couple more recs for Black contemporary books. Skye Falling by Mia Mckenzie Behold the Dreamers by Imbolo Mbue The God of Good Looks by Breanne McIvor The Banned Bookshop of Maggie Banks by Shauna Robinson The Secret Lives of Church Ladies by Deesha philyaw (this is a short story collection, but they are so good) In Every Mirror She's Black by Lọlá Ákínmádé Akerström James by Percival Everett Songs of Irie by Asha Ashanti Bromfield Brooms by Jasmine Walls
Have you read any more 5 star reads since your last 5-star ratings video? I watched your last one and I'm excited to put all of those on my TBRs for next year. I'm going to add autobiographies, historical fictions, fantasy and urban romance (and MAYBE horror) to my reading list in 2025 since I've only been reading dark/contemporary/bully/taboo romance, and thrillers. The books I'm most excited for are the Magnolia Parks books, "Before I Let Go" by Kennedy Ryan and " The Words" by A. Jade....and finishing the series of books I've started and loved.
Black, Homegoing, Perfect Peace & Stay with Me are on my 25 tbr 🫰🏾😌🙆🏾♀️📚✨ Loved by You sounds good i will add it also 😮💨😊 🙆🏾♀️🍿📖 Beverly Jenkins has wonderful historical romances 💕
Have you ever read Look Closer by David Ellis?definitely my favorite thriller (as of rn) of all time 😭 the printe copy has pretty small font so it may be best on the kindle !
A book similar to Pardon my Frenchie that I think you may like better is The Problem with Dating by Brittainy Cherry. I would highly recommend The Boyfriend Project series by Farrah Rochon
These are some interesting sounding books I wanna read this year. The Titanic Survivors Book Club by Timothy Schaffert The Great Divide by Cristina Henriquez (takes place during the construction of the Panama Canal) Pelican Girls by Julia Malye (ship full of young women plucked from a Paris asylum and sent to marry settlers in North America) All the Water in the World by Eiren Caffall (I think it is about a family living on roof of natural history museum after glaciers have melted and water levels have risen and they are trying to preserve some parts of the museum)
Farrah has a trilogy centered around ladies who were dating the same guy… fun fun friendship/sisterhood and individual love stories🤗😍🤗… jic you want more by her after Pardon my Frenchie (which I’ve yet to read)
Can I recommend two books to you ? A love that saves then A love that restores both by jaimsss P. I don’t see anyone reading or talking about these books or any of her books in general.
Here you go again making me buy more books😂❤📚 I have never been reading a book and also listening to audiobooks! Let’s not forget the kindle…which I just bought a stand and remote page turner for! Ready for 2025!😂
Hi! Someone Knows my Name is one of my all-time favorite historical fiction books. My daughter is reading it now and can’t put it down. I purchased her own copy for Christmas.
I want to recommend an author I think you would enjoy, Kaye Rockwell , an indie Filipina author. She writes amazing heartfelt and sweet stories . The glad you exist trilogy by her is my one of my favorite series by her 💞 all above 4 ⭐️ reads for me
(Sarcasm incoming) 😳 😳 😳 Wait, ma'am, you're not a robot? Ma'am, the deception you've pulled. I don't know if I can trust your bookish recommendations anymore. I don't know if...I'm so betrayed right now. (serious voice) Okay, I pray the above statement came across as me being super goofy and you don't take too much offense to my sense of humor. You're human and have a life outside of UA-cam, so you yawning does not bother me in the slightest. Your TBR is impressive though; still working on my current one while also planning to buy more books (wherever do I get that idea?).
I got new glasses this year went to eye doctor for a checkup appointment for my eyes and he goes do you read a lot and I said yes I do why and he said keep it up because it’s actually a fact that reading helps keep your eyesight better if you have a lazy eye and I do have a lazy eye . Wow, really? that's interesting! 🙂
@ashleybatacchi7344 very interesting. I have amblyopia, too. I read 120 books so my eyes should love me!

@ Also All Rhodes lead here has a fall/ winter vibe. Grumpy/ sunshine, forced proximity. Its chefs kiss 😘
I want to read a book by Brittany Cherry, which one would you recommend that I grab first?
You really can’t go wrong! I loved the gravity of us and if you love melodrama, I think you will too!
@ I love melodrama, I’ll try that one first.
House of Eve is phenomenal

Don’t add Queenie. This book was over hyped IMO. I only finished it because I was waiting to see what everyone was talking about. Very disappointing.
