I've been hearing about Spider Mountain ever since it opened. It's about an hour outside of Austin, Texas, and they've only got a few hundred feet of elevation. But they are making the most of it with some really fun trails.
🇺🇸 50 State Shred MAP: 50stateshred.com (Updated as I post on Patreon)
The plan is to keep building and branching and to have a ton of fun stuffed into a small package.
It was great meeting and riding with my Patreon folks, I always get such a kick out of hanging with the people who make this all possible.

@BKXC you want kolaches? when you're in UT, go to Hruska's Kolaches and get yourself a bacon, egg, cheese kolache, and also a raspberry cream kolache. you'll thank me later. PS sad I missed you in AZ. next time!
Brian, man, I’m loving this series. As I’ve said before, you’re doing everything I wish I was! You’re cracking me up as you learn the van life tips and tricks whilst traveling across this great country of ours AND including some history for all of us. Great stuff. Keep up the great work. I’m really appreciating it. 👍🏻
1. It's "Burn-it," durn it.
2. Thanks for the rain.
Michael Wyatt Can’t you learn it?
Buc-ees is huge in Texas. Another great Texas place to hit up is "What a Burger".
Pronounced water burger 😂
It’s actually incredible that he rides with literal no front brakes.
I first thought it was just a play on words to indicate he is just all speed. But no it literally means he only has one arm and doesn’t have access to front brakes because of it.
AND HE STILL RIDES!!! No excuses!! Just go ride!!
He now has two levers on the left for front and rear brakes, me on the other hand have inoperable front brakes 🤷♂️
Nothing like some slick Texas mud / clay to keep your bike slippin & sliding.
Spirit Mountain Lifts for the WIN! Thanks Brian for the shout out!
I live in Austin and I love mountain biking so this video is so cool!
Spider is a blast.
Thanks for the awesome videos and coming to Texas! I love me some Spider Mountain and Buc-ee's!
Everything's bigger in Texas. except the mountains. But spider Mountain Still a ton of fun.
Well except for like Pali euro and all the places in west Texas that have over 8000 feet of elevation lol
Yes!! Glad you made it to my hometown and stopped at Buccees. It really is a Texas staple. Next time get some San Antonio tacos!
Thanks for visiting Brian.
really enjoying your 50 state shred cold and rainy here in Switzerland at the mo
So cool watching you shred the local park
I'm from the Houston area and I pass by or stop at that same Buc-ee's in Katy every day on my work commute. It's cool that you were in our area! I ride all around Houston and sometimes around Austin. Keep on doing your thing.
Spider Mountain is fun to ride , been there 2 times!
Nice, that toy museum looks great
Spider Mountain is awesome! I’m so glad you went!
Well done Brian! Keep on Rollin!
I can't believe this is only 6 hours from my house here in Louisiana and I have never ridden it . I am with you through all 50 states bro, keep it up
The "KOLACHES" you showed were far away from the Czech traditional "KOLÁČE", however I'm happy that the Czech cuisine is not only popular in the Czech Republic! I hope you liked your trip to the Czech Republic, because I've found a photo of you in one of our old MTB magazines. Great video as always!
That tire change at the van was money.
Tip for next time: Reveille Peak Ranch is all granite, so it rides great after (or during) a rain.
For Louisiana Ruston's Lincoln Parish Park is the way to go, also in Mississippi, they have a fun very unique trail system called Mt. Zion bike trail, definitely the best.
I like your comment to the "chilling" time you spend in your van. 2 years ago we bought a similar van. After 2 months Mtb vacation in Skandinavia we found out, it's not big enough for the whole bike family... For 2019 we bought a bigger one and enjoy together biking and outdoor weekend and vacations...
Too bad the weather didn’t help out with the trails. But welcome to Texas! 80 and sunny yesterday and snow day after tomorrow. At least we have cheap gasoline. Y’all come back soon!
Hate to sound cliche. but, like they say "If you don't like the weather in Texas, wait a minute".
Proud member of the R.A.C.E. Team! (Ride Around Crew Exploration Team) lol! Part On!
Glad you hit up San Antonio. Best Mexican/Tex-Mex food in the country. Bucee’s is awesome and really enjoy this video style. Gives us viewers a sense of your full experience in a particular state. Safe travels!
Good for you, man. Have fun and keep exploring!
6:34 I almost shout MAMA!!!!! Nice ride Brian!!
In Texas, sounds like a good place to visit.
When you get to new Hampshire check out highland bike park, they have an old but bike friendly chair lift. Also for jump rope on hard ground check out the 4 piece floor mat from harbor freight, it's cheap and would be easy to keep in the van.
I'm watching every week seeing you through 50 states spreading good positive vibez to all mtb people 🤘 safe sends dude
In before people realize you don't look at the comments anymore. That was a great 2 days for sure!
Yes indeed, I have a short clip of you boosting the lower jump line like a mad man!
MTB Kevin I’d love to see that!
Awesome video... Buckee's looked cool, like a mini grocery store with all the fix'ns!!!
Great Stuff Brian 🚴🚴 🤘🤘😜
Been loving the travel vlog type content recently....keep it up!
Looked like a fun little spot to ride.
Those "wet & sloppy" trails are what it is like 90% of the year here in the UK. Spider mountain looks fun
Yeah, the bike/ski lifts at Spirit MTN in Duluth (my home town trail) are excellent.
The bike lifts at Winter Park are nice. Welch outside of Redwing, MN has some decent ones. The trails at Spirit are better than Welch though.
Wow, nice trail!! Vanlife for sure
Epic! Glad your killin it out on the road!
Due to riding on welsh slate every time I ride, I can safely say that looks incredibly grippy. Oh I’d love to ride in the sunny weather all the time
You need to drive north to Dallas fortworth. Sansom park, Boulder Park, big cedar, and north shore trail are the top 4. Would highly recommend all 4 of the.
Give a shout when you hit NWA, because we all know you will. Would love to come out and shred!
Best mtb channel
Get a little square (about 3'x3') of anti fatigue mat to keep in your van for jump rope! Used to jump a lot a couple years ago and hard surfaces are killer on your knees. Worth doing, it'll help you be more springy :)
Man, you were San Antonio! Did you ride Flat Rock Ranch in Boerne? Best XC trails in texas!
Went to buc-ee's in Alabama.. absolutely amazing. Can't recommend enough.
Its amazing how after you slip a front tire. Even on rough stuff. It throws you right back to ground level when it come to confidence in your riding that day lol
Happens all too often😂
That is awesome
...tranquil is the word !!!
There are many communities in Texas with immigrants from all over. German, Polish, Czech all relocated here and are prevalent, especially in the Hill Country. I dont live too far from that Katy Bucee's (30 miles), Was it 98 pumps and 48 ice machines? The bathrooms are off the hook. There is an attendant. Place has over 70 employees per shift.
The history of Texas is very similar to "Rio Grande do Sul" here in Brazil, the difference we hold separeted 10 years from the rest of the empire at the time, very interesting both histories.
Gotttaaa hit Buccees! 😂😂 gotta go everytime you're in the T💪🏾🤝🏽🔴
So cool! This is just 5 minutes from my house on lake Buchanan😃
Giving some history about the states you visit adds a nice dimension to the videos. Have you made any plans for what you’ll be riding for Wi yet? I’m supper interested to see what you choose.
Along with the road trip series with Alex this is my favorite mtb series on UA-cam! Keep it up Brian. Hope to ride with you in Colorado this summer
I'll look into sending you an email but trestle bike park in winter park or eagle Colorado would be some great spots!
Suprising more places don't have bike carrier chairs like they have in Christchurch bike park nz, work so well just slide bike onto it as your walk foward, easy as
That gas station is unreal. Great to see you challenging yourself in some slop, very British
Seeing all the fans in their BKXC Jersey, idk if I wunna be one of those guys, but whenever you end up in MD, I’ll probably wear the jersey anyway cause it’s so damn spiffy 😄
Great to see you out here at spider mountain! And it's really cool seeing myself in the thumbnail of the video!
Its shocking how small the Alamo actually is...i had to laugh the first time i saw it, but its still cool and a cool town! #buceesnutz #jerkygalore
I love spider MTN... And buckees! Hope u hit the Northwoods trails n Arkansas next.
bern-it Texas!
And 'Beall's' = bellz
learn it, durn'it
I think you need to momentarily put up the NM magnet, to get the TX magnet perfectly aligned.
Next time at buccees you need to try bohemian garlic jerky and beaver nuggets!
Its called vanlife Brian... Hahaha definitely a different feeling ;)
3/50 Completed.
Brian your rest time is about to over , you will be hitting 2000 patreons within 3 months so, start finding your full time employ to keep the beast of awesome videos in this world !
great vid again dude one of the tips I was given by a pro was to put a couple spoons of glitter in your tyre with your sealent helps block those holes quicker worked for me
Silver Star Mountain Resort Vernon B.C. has the best lift setup for MTB's ever. Don't believe me, come and see.
I was also in San Antonio last February. The River Walk and Alamo were fantastic. Will go again.
At least you got to give the tire a proper break in after changing it!
I'm a huge fan of that assegai tire, it's the best of the minions/HR2 combined into one
BKDH 😉😎
Could definitely see the difference in your riding with the new tire! 🤘🤘
Solid runs to offer + chairlift, nais!! 🤘
It must be really nice at the end of a ride to get home in a few crank's spin without hours of driving 🤩
Keep the van moving Brian, it's been awesome so far 👊
Hey, you stopped at the buckys near my house! cool video man. there's a few fun trails in Houston you missed tho! nothing as exciting as Spider mountain but fun enough to get the batteries recharged each week :) keep up the good work!
Another great video! You are living the dream man...👌
I'll make it to spider mtn. one day. Last week made it to Seguin mountain bike skills park and op Schnabel. Seguin was really fun. Worth checking out when you pass back through the Alamo. Great video . Never been in a Bucky's, because I drive a truck and trailer, and Bucky's doesn't allow big rigs so that was kinda cool that you threw that in the vid.
When you make it to Florida go to ALAFIA again there have been some amazing upgrades.
Brian, you probably won't see this... you should come back out to East TX and hit Barber Hills MTB Trail in Powderly, TX. It's some of the best MTB trails in East TX, I don't see that you've visited it yet. You could incorporate it into a trip that leads back up North to Bentonville.
Those looked delicious man!!
Looks like the van setup is working well lol
Gotta love the yanks. Those conditions would be classed as good / mildly damp in the UK. Great video though Brian. 👊🏻
San Antonio, super cool did you see Shawn Michaels?
Hope you try out Emma long park whenever you’re in Austin , so much tech so much pain but hella fun
Love your videos man, been watching you for a couple months. Jealous of your van though lol. You're living the dream for sure.
That was some fast service... If you need extra cash you could start taking work orders in parking lots hahah
Amazing how steady that gimbal was during filming the ride. Good stuff brother.
When you come to utah ride at deer valley its awesome. Tsunami and tidal wave are my favorite trails. They are flow trails with a lot of smooth jumps.
I'm thinking about your life after covering all the states... That's an experience that no corporation, regardless of the level, won't be able to give you! Enjoy your trip man!
Who wants to bet Brian is heading Seth's way to ride Berm Peak in progress?
👇
Hoping you get a chance to hit Blankets Creek when you go to Georgia!
Love these! Also, I know Kansas doesn't have a ton, but you have to hit it for all 50 states. So whether it be Switchgrass or something closer to Missouri, you should take time to come check out the kids in Topeka. There's a volunteer group that's focusing on getting kids stoked on riding the trails. Normally about 20 kids show up on a weekly basis to progress and get fit. The guy's name is Kasey and he does a lot for the community and shows you can enjoy a bike, even in a flyover state :)
I love the comment on spirit mountain in Mn because I live there but have never been
Great vid, Bri. 🤙
Lmk if you plan on coming all the way down to markham park in Broward county Florida.
Reveille Peak !! Sucks you didn’t go. In my humble opinion spider mountain is like going to the Grand Canyon after a few hours you’re ready to leave only a few trails going downhill. reveille peak is amazing also Flat Rock Ranch in comfort Texas next time you visit the great state!
MMMMMM, unexpected rain sounds just like NC, wash your car and in a few hours or less its drizzling. You need a chauffeur so you're all rested up, that must be tough driving, riding, editing, trying to sleep, etc.. but glad you made the switch to the van life.
ANY area has cheaper gas prices than CA Brian.
About a month or so ago I sold my 2018 Spectral for a good price and bought a 2019 Rocky Mountain Instinct Carbon 90 BC edition leftover from a shop in Idaho listed on PinkBike, SERIOUS deal!!! Got myself some nice carbon wheels and just sold the factory alloy wheels today actually. I can tell you the RM climbs better than the Spectral, I tried the same hilly and Rooty area that I was very lucky to make on the Spectral and this went up almost with ease, no front end lift and stays planted, descends with more confidence too, gotta love that flashy paint scheme as well.
