Turbo 4 banger, made in Mexico, but instead of passing the savings to the customer, they cashed in the extra profit and even highering the price, No Thanks.
I’m still driving my 2003 Tacoma (2WD), 4cylinder, 5 spd manual. Over 222,000 miles, original clutch, original rear brakes, zero engine issues. Basically oil changes, a few front disc pads, a few sets of tires and batteries, an oxygen sensor. A couple of fluid changes (brake fluid, coolant, refrigerant….). Minimal electronics. Keep it simple!
Just bought a 2024 Frontier. About $8000 less than an equal Tacoma model, and $15,000 less than the Tacoma’s top model, and the Nissan has a V-6, and Nissan had the model I wanted, an SV 4x4 with a 5’ bed. Just passed the 1000 mile mark and no issues! I know, nothing to comment on after 1000. Waiting for the winter to hit and will have reason to use the 4x4 on icy roads.
I'm really glad I bought my Tacoma back in 2017 before covid happened and before all of these changes were made to the Tacoma. I'll probably never sell the 2017 Tacoma I have now.
I’m super happy with my 23 TRD Off Road, double cab, long bed with the TRD Performance exhaust, the Premium and Technology pkgs. I purposefully bought it after I found out that Toyota was dropping the Reliable, Durable and Proven 3.5L V6.
When the CEO quit,he told everyone what was going to happen. And it did. They are cashing out in their name. They are making junk now. The trucks are the worst made today. The sienna, gone, the camry gone. Everything went woke and broke.
They're asking way more for way less truck, but way more useless gadgets and electronics. Toyota needs to bring back proper bump stops, revisit both the manual and automatic transmission, stop putting weak shock mounts on their truck and get back to incremental improvements rather than drastic changes.
I could’ve palleted the higher price with all the updates of the fourth gen Tacoma until I test drove one and discovered it’s extremely cheaply made and feels like a tremendous downgrade with the new 4-cylinder engine. I thought I was going back in time and driving a Toyota pickup back in the late seventies with the 4-cylinder engine. I’ll pass, and stay with my 2022 Tacoma.
IMO, these automakers adopted the 100,000 mile plan. Why would they make stuff to last? Everyone would keep their vehicles for a decade or two if maintained properly. So, they use the cheapest materials possible. So they break down! Consumers get disgusted and buy a new one every 3 to 5 years.
Never, ever, purchase a new generation vehicle from any manufacturer. Let it prove itself first. The best vehicles tend to be the last year of the previous generation. All of the deficiencies worked out. With a new gen you are essentially testing the product….. A turbo engine will not last as long as a non-turbo, they are under more stress. If a short term owner, no problem, but if you are an intending to be a long term owner… how many turbos last 150k plus???
Consumers don’t comprehend that all the tech they want in the vehicle now it cost money and that’s why they had ask more for the new tacoma now just saying
@@kurtbeck5809 they are listening to the UA-cam Overlanding community not the average Joe Tacoma drivers that drive it day by day use it for work as well
You used to be able to buy a Toyota in the first year, that time is past it appears. The new Tacoma is far too expensive for a turbo four cylinder. Thanks but no thanks. Will not but a turbocharged engine the wear and tear is higher and won’t last nearly as long. I keep my vehicle 20 years so I am looking for longevity.

4 cyclinder turbo. $55k Enough said
Mexican made.
This part. I imagine 2 fewer cylinders, pistons, valves, rings and springs would leave some savings for the consumer.
Now it’s a true Taco

It should be fine for years
Nissan Frontier pro4x number 1 now !
I bought a brand new 2021, the motor went out within a 1000. I had to sue Nissan to get a new motor.
It went from 34k to 55k that’s why no one can afford it.
Saw one on car carrier at Loves. $54k is why they’re not selling.
The biggest problem is that they're not assembled in Japan. Plus Toyota has gotten greedy.
None of the previous Tacoma's were assembled in Japan
I don't mind a turbo 4 cylinder banger, as long it's a diesel.
Who wants one size fits all turbo 4? Turbos don't last as long as naturaly asperated. It's pretty though. I love my cast iron 2.7 liter lasts forever
“Full independent rear suspension”, shows truck w solid rear axle.
Multi-link coil spring suspension is NOT independent…
1. overpriced 2 junk
Less for more. Welcome to the great reset.
No one can afford it. Where's the cheap, basic truck that we asked for? Bring back what made you so great, Toyota.
diesel 3 ltr direct injection turbo . Leaf springs are fine . Anything less is a very soft roader
I'm really glad I bought my Tacoma back in 2017 before covid happened and before all of these changes were made to the Tacoma. I'll probably never sell the 2017 Tacoma I have now.
And you probably shouldn't...
NO 1 person wants a 4-Banger iTurbo engine for $50K+, the V6 is what ppl want!~

We need the Hylux with a straight six, not this.
Cheaply built and too expensive.
Made in Mexico will now cost 10% more from 2025 forward.
Center console have gotten so big and wide, I can’t fit
I would rather have a bench seat than a console.
Wayyyyyy too expensive.
Way over priced
Within 1st minute: " STILL more dependable than the competition. Done watching this fanboy BS.
I used to love Toyota trucks, because I had owned many of them. Since TOYOTA's new management, their trucks have literally turned to Mexican JUNK!
Price price and price.
My dealer never never has the xcab sr manual 4x4 longbed. So i have nothing to interest me....all up$ trucks. Uh no.
Over priced. Too many electronic controls.
High maintenance turbo.
To expensive, all these manufactures have priced their line ups like they are all super luxury vehicles.

Skyrocketing cost with plummeting quality - a lose / lose for consumers. Toyota is no longer the brand of quality affordable vehicles.
Toyota toad is the king of get less for more mentality
Akio Toyoda MUST BE FIRED!!!
No possibility! I can buy used or a new Ranger that does not have all the issues.
It’s not the class leader

I was going to consider one of these, not now. I'll find a good used one or get an F350.
As an aside, its also ugly AF.
Good job Toyota! 👌🏼
A 4 cylinder turbo? In a full size truck? Really? Who thought this was a good idea?
I have the 2023 v6 regular engine,,, they can keep the turbo bs

Well they raised the price too much!
That’s why smart people don’t buy Toyotas.
Lol….. smart people used to buy Toyota’s. My, how the times have changed!
NEVER buy NEW models first year or two out for sale.
But once was a nice little pickup is now junk! Anything to save a buck and pass it on to the consumer
Consumers don’t comprehend that all the tech they want in the vehicle now it cost money and that’s why they had ask more for the new tacoma now just saying
That much more?
Maybe they were asking the wrong people for input
A lot of us don't want all that tech. But we have no choice, that's all they offer.
@@GNMi79 The biggest reason why we’re getting all this tech is because the government mandates for safety

Not built in JP
The sent to Tacoma to Mexico, and the Mexicans aren't making very good Tacos this time
CHEAP MADE
PLAIN AND SIMPLE
OH where they made land of 200% tariff
4 cylinder. Crappy transmission.
Every aspect of life cost more under papa and Kamala mainly cause they have us funding both sides of the Russian war😅trump2024
If you don't like President Harris, then move to North Korea. You can drive a Kia there! MAGAt!
Junk
Just pt the v8 diesel in it - yanks need to move past hybrid and petrol
I don't think Tacoma it will be a problem,Solution is simple they must asked Japan factory to do it I'm telling you it will be perfect.
