Back story about the 37 and 73 cars, both from Michigan, that wrecked together. Both of them raced at Mt.Clemens Race Track. Bob Belz (37) cars were always turquoise. This race must had a borrowed car, or hired to drive it, hence the turquoise hood and numbers. Bob won a few F8 championships, also with co-driver Chuck Hall won the 3-hour F8 Endurance Championship at the Indy Speedrome. Mike Mowatt (73), if you look close the chassis, interior, at a lot of it's lettering, done in turquoise. Mike used grew up helping Bob. The turquoise, and 37 reversed, to 73 are a tribute to Bob. I lettered the 73 and about a thousand other cars through my career. Back in the days of hand lettering. This race was unfortunately, run after our last race of our last season at our old home track.
I'm thinking the use of 6 cylinders might have been (Lord I know somebody gonna get sideways, oh well) an above the Mason Dixon line thing any track I went to back in the day never ran 6's for any class idk. Auburndale Speedway in Florida only had 8's back then
Wow! Gotta love the old races and racers, not a dull moment in this one, Thanks for the upload!!
