    Great DIY rig. One suggestion... Instead of drilling / screwing into the narrow edge of the MDF, get a strip of 1" x 1" and put in the joints of the pieces (top & sides), screwing through the flat surfaces of the MDF into what is now a wood gusset.

    • @channelvr1293

      yep true ......you can pimp this thing in so many ways. And if i was a carpenter it would probably be a bit cleaner.

    • @notpoliticallycorrect1303
      @notpoliticallycorrect1303 3 місяці тому

      Indeed but you can get some very good fixings for MDF,most people use the wrong ones.It's uniform structure which makes it easy to work and finish also gives it better holding properties than most softwoods if fixed properly and a glued and maybe even dowelled joint would be better still,more durable and stronger,even more so gusseted.

    Interesting, gave me some ideas. I think I would use a battened frame inside for additional strength. How the guy managed to keep all his fingers is a mystery. I'm not a DIYer myself but the guy didn't seem worried about his own safety.

    • @channelvr1293
      @channelvr1293  4 роки тому

      that speaks for itself i think.... the rig came out (with pedals/wheel etc) at about 30kg my weight is 72 so that just about works out great. However when i friend of mine took place in the seat i saw that the wheels had a hard time....my friend weighs 105 kg so..... like i said in the video just about right for me but not for everyone....

      @@channelvr1293 sure, I didn't meant to be pedantic, I use casters a lot to be able to do woodworking at home and I use similarly spec casters, I can say they usually have quite a tolerance, at the expense of durability, but for this case I think you can abuse them and wouldn't matter if they deform a little bit.

      Actually a very good question.... I have been drilling holes in my rig for adding holders for headphones and VR set. And I had to redrill some of them. And honestly you can't even see where I have made a hole. It's also good if you bump or hit your rig (and you will) then you don't see the damage so well 😉👌 but if you are on a tight budget go for the cheapest MDF you can find 👍
