CP is not the same because in the 1960s the threat of people overturning the gov't is not credible but it is now so CP has to care about its people now. people now know what they can have so they ask whereas in the past they didn't. opening of the economy has allowed the chinese to learn what others are having so the CP can longer do as it pleases. contrast china with n. korea. the constitution might not have changed but the attitude towards people has.
