Delia M it may not have been a perfect statement but I'm so tired of people giving this girl a hard time after all the pressure she has had to handle and stupid press questions constantly coming at her. She does the best she can and I know I sure couldn't respond with the tact that she does. Wish her all the best.
Why did NO ONE change ANYTHING in Gracie's programs... That silly entrance to the footwork-triple, the final spin that she can never stop well... Why didn't they scrap 'em altogether and go back to last year's programs?

did she really use Michelle as an excuse...Gracie, please shut up. Michelle WON 9 National Titles, 5 World Titles and 2 Olympic medals...that spot was NOT controversal at all. She EARNED it. In fact had it not been for her, the US ladies would only have 2 that year... Totally lost respect for this girl. Didnt forget the time she said Michelle was an every other year skater...
I do not think Gracie meant anything mean, she just took an example of Michelle who at some point was not on the podium, but went to the worlds, now I do not know specifics, but she just used that example.
in 2006 Michelle kwan petitioned to be selected for the olympic team. She did not compete that season because of a hip injury. a 23-3 vote was taken after the nationals LP. She was selected for the Olympic Team and Emily Hughes was selected for the World Team. Michelle, however, had to have a "skate" in front of US judges to deem her ready and capable for the spot. She did just that. The head of US Figure Skating came out on record by saying that she was prepared and had enough content to potentially win at Torino. Hence why she was selected. Quite frankly, that nationals was a disaster that gave no doubt that MIchelle would be named to the team. Lets keep in mind, Michelle was the most consistent skater of the era. 12 National podiums, 9 World podiums, 2 Olympic podiums.
How about you people throwing negative comments around shut up. You think Gracie is being rude but yet you say a mean thing about her and think it's not wrong?? But it's wrong for her to give an example? Stop being mean and stop being a hypocrite. She's very respectful and nice! I've met her multiple times and she works hard and is very very nice and kind. Stop being rude and acting like you know her personally by one thing she said. Keep your mean comments to yourself, because no one wants to hear it.
Joy, first, you need to learn the difference between being rude and telling the truth. Someone above nicely explained how and why Michelle that year ended up going to the Olympics. Taking that in the account, Gracie's comment is not appropriate, like comparing apples and oranges. Also, Gracie might be nice and kind and work hard, but she failed this season, which is undeniable truth (unfortunately, cause she is the US best skater). Finally, no one here pretends to know Gracie personally, and it is a public platform, so everyone is entitled to speak their own opinion. And, if there is anything I said here which is off, please correct me.
I love that you are getting the mixed zone on video. It tells so much more of the story when we get the skaters/coaches body language and tone.
