    I think that the most common thing that ppl suck at, is their mindset. It is so often that ppl runs in to a bad beat or a set up, they just lose their head and play like wild animals. Even some pros do that. So it is a very good idea to identify these players, even tho they do play very very solid when they do play their A-game, but MANY pros and ofc recreational players as well, adjust and play like shit or at least completely different, so follow your opponents session, and then adjust to their temper. That is one of the biggest leaks I see in poker, ppl forget that their opponents play different, according to how their session runs.. So all the stats you have on ppl, you have to throw away, because it really is history, and is not worth a single dime in the specific spots.. Tendencies are only interesting on a Big Data perspective.. ;)

    Good tips. Tourneys are tough and most of the daily ones that are in brick and mortar rooms are kinda short stacked because the blinds go up so fast so you have to almost be ready to be all-in or fold.

    I dont suck, but I still watched it. I have been guilty of all these sins over the years, with the 3rd being the hardest one to get through. I make the bubble in an extremely high portion of small stakes tournys, but I am most often the small stack once in the cash. I have not seen a range chart presented the way you showed it for these situations and it has definitely made me rethink my nitty behaviour late in tournaments. I will be playing with this new knowledge and seeing how it goes. Thanks.

We need to call 13.5 to win 51.5 with overpair on that board TQKJT, 3h, where we have a Straight. We dont need to be good 2 of 3 times, we need to be good 1 in 4 times to be a correct call. Hey man. I learned from TV the exact skills you just showed us , but now thanks to you , I am aware of the Equities involved. I actually was watching a random WSOP vid and Feraz The Toilet (His screen name on Stars) Jaqa , sorry if i messed the spelling of his name , at least i spelt his Stars handle correctly , but he was down to the last two tables of the tournie , (He FT'd) and he was getting plagued by PP's , but they were all small , under 7's and regardless of position , he folded them , and also he never called a couple of jams pre when he had AKss , that too spoke volumes , but eventually i saw a Blog where the AKss was just a fold , and it showed the Equity AKss had , and what was needed to call such a shove , but you dont necessarily HAVE to call even if you have the required 'Goods' you are better just getting to the FT , then its ALL on but you dont want to be calling shoves, you need to be doing the shoving. It gets tricky at the money end of the tournie but if you are running Hot your unmaid pre hands always hit a piece or Smash the flop , but you have successfully manoevered your way there by some tough folds (In your own opinion they are tough , until that is , you get more adept at the intracasee's of how to play that end of the game , and those tight folds were obv the Correct thing to do. We need remember that there are several ways to skin a skinning thingie , and not all top players do it the same way, as MANY ways work, as in Golf, the saying when a successful player is talked about , and he has a shocking swing as opposed to a great swing like Danny Lee the Kiwi , or Tiger's , "Its not HOW , but HOW MANY !" So the shocking swing dude wins a Tournie or three with his Un-orthodox way of hitting the ball as opposed to a GTO type swing (Not that a swing can be GTO , but you get my drift.) This style has done me well , im only a "Fun" player , but i am well ahead lifetime $$$ . BTW , Subscribed with Bell , and Liked.

    I seem to build a healthy stack in the early stages taking advantage of weak players over playing hands then when the better more aggressive players starting joining the tables I seem to tighten up unable to 3 bet without top hands and when ever I lead im 3 bet and out of position with hands AT off 89s and call get drawing hands don't no weather to lead and the face big raise when only drawing nowing im going to miss 60% of the time so just clam up waiting kk aa then when I get kk qq the flop will have a ace

    Great points 1 & 2. IMO, Point 3 is fairly complicated. Yes, Tourney players are too tight steering through the last 20% of the field, but maybe it's over-simplifying to encourage people to shove with any two.

      I think the fact that you are aware of the times you are sitting on your stack vs over pressuring is enough for you to make a change.
      Generally if it feels like you are sitting on your stack too much, start being more active, adversely; if you are making too many moves, try and settle in.
      Think honestly about your table image and proceed accordingly.

    Good info though i have a slight disagreement with you on mid position small prs. You are spot on for tourney play but in a cash game your implied odds are usually enough to go set hunting unless your opponent is short or you have several shorts behind you. Also if you are in a cash game with less than 70-80 bbs you are probably playing too high as there is no excuse to be short in a cash game. My exceptions to that are if you have just taken a tough beat or i occasionally buy short in a low stakes game to work on my short stack game. Play well everyone.

    yeah, i think people call too much or don't call enough. I found a nice balance, also i see many people can get say the second best hand and never found because they think they've won. I was in a game with K 9 straight the only hand that could beat me was A K we had 3 people in someone called all in, i also called because i was sure he had the same as me or lower, the 3rd guy called and he had the A K but he didn't even know he had won.... annoying.

    • @arronstamp377
      @arronstamp377 4 роки тому

      point being, people need to think about why someone is betting a lot and what are their own chances of winning the pot, i've also had a Q 8 suited a guy called all in 3 of us in the game, i told myself, if the second guy folds, i will call. and he did fold so i called and won. with pairs, people don't think about how many individuals are in the hand and how that effects their chances, they also don't look at the chips and push others to the edge enough.

    • @jamiescott3571
      @jamiescott3571 4 роки тому +1

      There comes time(s) in every tourney when the blinds are big, the stack is low and you look at something like Q7 in late position, and you are faced with a decision for all your chips.
      Knowing the range of hands you should be shipping it all in or calling it off vs folding, is the determining factor of winning those spots/becoming a winning player.
      Sure, sometime you will be behind, but luck still factors in, and it's the difference between blinding out vs getting to the money/big stack.
      Watch a couple of Lex Veldhuis videos on youtube, he has studied under Bencb and talks about these types often.

    • @danielpetrov3178
      @danielpetrov3178 4 роки тому +1

      Work on your fear and get rid if it. You should be grateful to have the chance to play there at all. You will never win if you are afraid. Focus on making the right decisions. Sometimes you will make mistakes so try to remember them. In the concrete situation think of it like that -the chips that you risk loosing are worth less because the shorter stacks risk their tournament life and you don't. It depends on the situation, sometimes you can cap their ranges or you can just play more loose-aggresive. But don't be afraid. Learn, adapt, overcome 😂

      @mrredflame3778 4 роки тому

      Well a 10 bb stack from sb you shove with 7/9o or any k/x I dont know the exact numbers but its like 50% of your range you can even go crazier when the bb is defending too light. No matter what or how you study the numbers ( odds ) or how you think you played it right. The other players are not playing the same as you. Get your mind on the game and focus on your bank roll ( manage ) your bluffs and don't give away your chip stack on a chase to the river. Watch how each other plays and get inside the game and run that table. You can have 7-2 off suit and crack the table. Your actions your look and the reputation you show is all about how you act. The reason some would say they suck is that the Tilt factor plays a huge role on ones feelings.. instead of noticing this they play right into the table and their focus is now on the dealer laying out the best hands to them and that it's the shitty dealers fault. I swear I love to crack sets or high pairs with off suits like 3-9 or some random bullshit.. get them to think your giving them a clue on how you play..

      Sometimes that spot is a definite call, but the point he is making is that those are the types of spots are where a lot of players are straight up losing a lot more than winning. He points out that people get leveled in to thinking they should be calling when they should just be folding because of the board texture, the switching of player aggression, not enough equity to call or raise, etc.
      Better to fold out those spots and wait for a better situation when it's not as scary as opposed to being a hero and calling off.

      @@RaiseYourEdge ya one of the main reasons people suck at poker is an inability to fold Pre. Be a little more disciplined in your hand selection and you will improve drastically.

    It's +EV to not play stupid...even when your supposed understanding of GTO is telling you do exactly that..because you aren't able to replicate GTO play at the table...and trying to do so is stupid.

    Nobody sucks at poker, it's basically all luck. They simply suck at sitting through a card game. There isnt any skill involved sitting in a chair and having good cards dealt to you. You simply may have less luck than others on some nights.
