Sounds like a lot of fun! I have always found the Ru Mer reels a bit clunky and off balance. Glad to hear you were catching fish with it - Best wishes - Dennis
Those little plastic oil bottles are great to use and re-use, but they always fall over. I finally started super-gluing a spare washer to the bottom as a combination base/counterweight. They can still fall over, but not nearly as much before.
The SX5 is about the only one of the Silver Cloud reels that I can go along with. Many of the others that are smaller have things like plastic spools, etc. I much prefer the Ryobi Powerful series. There is no comparison. I’m just not a fan of these Silver Cloud reels. - Chris
Have you ever worked on any of the Kmart spinning reels? I've been looking at them and want one but I don't know how reliable they are 😢. There is a bunch of them on eBay.
Yes I have. Kmart was not a manufacturer. They had a lot of reels made for them through top manufacturers like Olympic. The issue is getting parts if you need them. They will be hard to find - Thanks for asking
I like big reels like that
Nice plain bushing reel. Just keeps on doing the business for the next 10 years.
You got that right! - Simple is great!
Great reels for salt water fishing. Basically bulletproof. I've used them for years.
Yes they are - Simple and efficient design always wins with me - Thanks for sharing - Dennis
I have a screw starter for small Phillip screws and it works great. It’s made by a company called “Micro Mark”
Thank you - I will look for that. I have trouble with these - Best wishes - Dennis
Nice reel dennis ! I took the
Ru mer out today and caught three fish on it. It was fun fishing with a old classic !

I get it. I like the Powerful series as well. Thanks Chris
Ryobi! Does it take an 18 volt battery?
Made me smile - and Yes, it is the same company - Dennis
