Matheran is a serene hill station located in the Raigad district of Maharashtra, India. Known for its unspoiled natural beauty and a pollution-free environment, it is a popular weekend getaway for people from Mumbai and Pune.

🔸Matheran hill station is located approximately 90 km from Mumbai and 120 km from Pune.
🔸Best Time to Visit Matheran is during the month of October to May (Winter and Summer), though monsoon offers lush greenery and scenic beauty.
💠Take a local train from your nearest railway station to Neral on the Central railway route.
There are 2 ways you can reach matheran hill station:
1. Take a toy train from Neral railway station to Matheran, which approx. takes 2 hrs to reach Matheran.
🔸There are 2 trains running right now, but whenever you are planning to go just check the timings for the train on M-indicator mobile app as it may get changed.
🔸Now the train timings are 8:50 am and 10:25 am to reach Matheran.
🔸Tickets for the toy train are available only at the ticket counter and the counter starts just before 45 min prior to train timings.
But the queue starts much earlier.
🔸If you want to go by 8.50am train so you must almost reach the Neral station by 6 am, and almost by 6:45 am the slots gets full, as there are only 100 seats available including 1st and 2 nd class. One person can take only 4 tickets.
🔸No tickets required for children below 5 yrs.
2. Take a share taxi service to Aman lodge, which are available just outside the Neral station, which only costs Rs.100 per person.
🔸If you go by your personal 4 wheeler or 2 wheeler there is a pay and park service available near Aman Lodge railway station.
🔸From Aman lodge you can again book the toy train tickets to Matheran, or else you can go by e-autorickshaw to Matheran but there is again queue for both.
🔸The e-autorickshaws are more affordable than toy train as it only takes Rs. 35 per person.
🔸You can also walk by the train track to Matheran but it almost takes 30 to 45 min to reach, while the toy train and e-autorickshaw takes only 10 to 15 min to reach matheran railway station.
💠There is an entry at Matheran, If you go by taxi or car the entry tickets are available at Aman Lodge itself, and If you go by train from Neral station to Matheran the entry tickets are available at Matheran Railway station.
