Of course Roselia is a harder slay and perfected what a girlypop poison type could be but Vileplune was still the blueprint we wouldn’t have Queen Roselia with Mother Plume. I was right there with you when you out Dragalge in mother, I’ve always thought she was stunning, so I was saddened when she dropped to just girly pop. Has she had many iconic moments? No, I’ll admit it, but that’s not her fault. If anything, she’s been very demure and mindful since her debut, camouflaged in the algae and kelp forests with her unique typing and color palate. And that, to me, is mother.

My heart hurts to see Dustox get sidelined in this. If one of the parameters for the girlypop tier was Jessie and who she ran, Dustox in the anime has the same power as Ash's Butterfree to him. The scene of her tearfully releasing hers lives rent free in my (and i imagine many others minds) and I think that not only shows Jessies character and motherhood but also Dustox's ability to hold a legacy. Also look up Dustox as Jessie's contest Pokemon and honestly while it is just a Dustox with bows, you can begin to see that Dustox doesn't live in the shadow of Beautifly but creates it's own lane in ways that isn't often seen from the Pokemon featured in the okay tier ultimately. I also know I am biased being that I have a giant chest tattoo of Dust and they are one of my faves but I truly think that Dustox deserved a boost but also I am biased as I said. Great video Phaun! If you wanted to really get into it you could treat Fairy like a sun sign and Psychic like a moon sign. Like, each type would influence your horoscope, but not in the same way.

Backing up my favorite Pokemon Skuntank here: Skuntank is a cute, funny, and transgressive Poison/Dark type doing its job. The "something stinks" vibe is tied to the cute animal part and the fact that it's a tank with like a huge fluffy mohawk and a butt face is also a camp factor. Skuntank is also used by Jupiter and Pierce so it can exist in many different forms of gender expression and types of social rule-breaking I personally prefer Skuntank in Pierce's punk-rock context and aesthetic but I also remember getting 5/6 of my team knocked out in Pearl by Jupiter's Skuntank and I just found that so commendable (I took her out w my lvl 3 Zubat btw) I think if you can give toxic fume-based mons like Gloom and Amoonguss their stagelight I think Skuntank can have a share

I was very excited to see this one due to my besties Trubbish and Garbodor, and very saddened when they only landed in ok. I can definitely see the angle you're coming from( and the Ryan Reynolds shade was also really funny ) but I feel no one appreciates how Girlypop they are, so t I'll try to explain my vision To me , Trubbish exudes such a stray energy, they look like a cat you'd find in a garbage bag laying around a dumpster at your local 7/11, the wonky eyes, the sharp teeth, even the ties of it's plastic bags have a very cat like silhouette. And Garbodor is the same but elevated, they just give a big chunky cat that's been stuffed with treats and now lives happily with it's girlypop trainer And if we're factoring trainers in the franchise it, both Roxie and Oleanna have Garbodor as their ace, both VERY much GIRLYPOPS (Gigantamax Garbodor is bad tho I agree with you on that)

I think you had it right the first time with Dragalge, she's mother down to me. She gives Chromatica, Ethel Cain, Galliano, She's a muse, u cant just put her on any team. Maybe she's not as overtly understandable to the masses like Roselia cuz she's not as obvious, more couture. She's not more popular I believe because people judge her for the dragon typing even though she was the first to do it, and I think she's wrongly criticized for being a version exclusive Pokemon. She may not be mainsteam, but she is an underground pop sensation.
Sneasler, along with Hisuian Zoroark and each of their baby forms, are THE GIRLS of Legends Arceus. The moment I met Ingo's Sneasler in Coronet- and she GIGGLED AT ME ojou-sama style- I quite literally fell in love with her and wanted one on my team IMMEDIATELY. I just have so much respect for her as a personal mother in this tierlist for me. I named mine Yzma based on Emperor's New Groove, cus she holds that same elegant chaos for me, but ESPECIALLY for the use of that bright hot pink in her design- matching the same color of the experiment scenes in Yzma's lab. She's just SO Yzma coded to me and that's all I can see her as.
Once all types are covered, we need an All-Stars with all mothers across the board. And I suggest the following tiers: Orphanage mater superiora: the ultimate motherhood tier. These pokemon mother so much that they singlehandedly run an orphanage. They are an inspiration to all mothers of every type. Matriarch: these pokemon are top tier mothers, as they are the most prevalent mother in their type. Soccer mom: these pokemon run a van because they have multiple errands. They're not top tier, but they are key to the correct function of motherhood universe. Single mom: these pokemon are barely hanging on the mother tier. They're single moms who have two jobs and never stop, and we give them flowers because of that.

One I’m absolutely in love with your pfp, two while I as a fellow Scolipede enjoyer agree in my heart that she’s mother to me, I also feel like with the mean girl’s henchman energy she gives me, I feel like if I were ranking her on my own tier list I’d put her in girlypop. She’s got the same energy as Fugo to me, where yes she has her moments in the spotlight and absolutely kills it, she’s not meant to be the main character in the grand scheme of things and that’s okay. I think this is the first time in this series I have disagreed with one of your placements. Glimmet and Glimmora have legacy and lore being linked with the terastal phenomenon and I think you aren't taking that into account here. I think they should be at least in okay or even higher personally!

i really like the poison type and i think it’s definitely because so many gen 1 pokémon were poison type so they comfort me. i also think the way team rocket in the anime made such a spoof of being “the bad guys” who are actually so lovable and fun they softened the type up. the episode where they leave their arbok and weezing will forever have me in a chokehold

That said, I believe Seviper is doing her own thing and her only similarity to Arbok is being a poison snake. I’m the type of trainer who will use any Pokémon and I tend to go for ones that have had an impactful or iconic moment.Amoonguss recently had an iconic moment and will always be my go-to poison type because of that. That being said, there’s many other pokémon in the poison type who deserve their flowers and I have many options to pick from when looking for a poison type.
Rest in peace Rachael Lillis, she’s actually carried so many of our childhoods, I’m just in disbelief that she was taken away so early. I’m glad she was able to stay with us until the end of Ash’s journey and the end of Team Rocket, may she rest

@@jmpjmp37 good points, but whilst Oddish is simple and elegant in a grass type category she is giving demure and elegant in the poison type which is more in your face, bold and esoteric she's giving "perhaps it's a poisonous weed" like Oddish gives what Bellosom gives which is girlypop girly grass/plant. When talking about aces my gen I playthrough bias is showing but whenever I think Oddish I think of 3 examples as ace: 1) the girl before Bills' house (Absorbing Oddish). 2) Wrapping Lass outside Cerulean (stun spore, abosorb Oddish) 3) status condition trainer in cave (she's the only one that sells the poison type but with a Bulbasaur) so yeah as an ace Oddish tends to be much more grass coded than poison.
I like how through the video we solidify what girly pop means in each category. I don’t really gravitate to girly pop for my team but these girly pop theory videos are so interesting. I love a good fiercepop or spooky pop though
Fezandipiti deserves mother in my opinion. The legacy and relevance she has in her home town of Kitakami cannot be understated, she is said to have “beautiful looks and lovely voice”, and even releases pheromones to captivate people and Pokémon. She is literally like a siren who uses her vocals and looks to bend others to her will, a backstory that is both tragic and c*nty. I can’t help but stan.

yess giving alolan muk the recognition he deserves. on my first sun playthrough i wasn't planning on having alolan muk on my team, but i ran into a grimer i couldn't run from bc my popplio was too slow. so i caught him and started using him on my team with plans to swap him out later, but he was a really strong part of my team and i got attached lol. his name is mortimer, the poison touch ability with poison jab, poison fang, and minimize is crazy

I personally prefer Skuntank in Pierce's punk-rock context and aesthetic but I also remember getting 5/6 of my team knocked out in Pearl by Jupiter's Skuntank and I just found that so commendable (I took her out w my lvl 3 Zubat btw)
I think if you can give toxic fume-based mons like Gloom and Amoonguss their stagelight I think Skuntank can have a share

It's crazy how every rock dual-type Pokemon gets completely exposed the second they aren't surrounded by rock types.
I was very excited to see this one due to my besties Trubbish and Garbodor, and very saddened when they only landed in ok.
I can definitely see the angle you're coming from( and the Ryan Reynolds shade was also really funny ) but I feel no one appreciates how Girlypop they are, so t I'll try to explain my vision
To me , Trubbish exudes such a stray energy, they look like a cat you'd find in a garbage bag laying around a dumpster at your local 7/11, the wonky eyes, the sharp teeth, even the ties of it's plastic bags have a very cat like silhouette.
And Garbodor is the same but elevated, they just give a big chunky cat that's been stuffed with treats and now lives happily with it's girlypop trainer
And if we're factoring trainers in the franchise it, both Roxie and Oleanna have Garbodor as their ace, both VERY much GIRLYPOPS

I think you had it right the first time with Dragalge, she's mother down to me. She gives Chromatica, Ethel Cain, Galliano, She's a muse, u cant just put her on any team. Maybe she's not as overtly understandable to the masses like Roselia cuz she's not as obvious, more couture. She's not more popular I believe because people judge her for the dragon typing even though she was the first to do it, and I think she's wrongly criticized for being a version exclusive Pokemon. She may not be mainsteam, but she is an underground pop sensation.
Sneasler, along with Hisuian Zoroark and each of their baby forms, are THE GIRLS of Legends Arceus. The moment I met Ingo's Sneasler in Coronet- and she GIGGLED AT ME ojou-sama style- I quite literally fell in love with her and wanted one on my team IMMEDIATELY. I just have so much respect for her as a personal mother in this tierlist for me. I named mine Yzma based on Emperor's New Groove, cus she holds that same elegant chaos for me, but ESPECIALLY for the use of that bright hot pink in her design- matching the same color of the experiment scenes in Yzma's lab. She's just SO Yzma coded to me and that's all I can see her as.
Once all types are covered, we need an All-Stars with all mothers across the board. And I suggest the following tiers:
Orphanage mater superiora: the ultimate motherhood tier. These pokemon mother so much that they singlehandedly run an orphanage. They are an inspiration to all mothers of every type.
Matriarch: these pokemon are top tier mothers, as they are the most prevalent mother in their type.
Soccer mom: these pokemon run a van because they have multiple errands. They're not top tier, but they are key to the correct function of motherhood universe.
Single mom: these pokemon are barely hanging on the mother tier. They're single moms who have two jobs and never stop, and we give them flowers because of that.

i really like the poison type and i think it’s definitely because so many gen 1 pokémon were poison type so they comfort me. i also think the way team rocket in the anime made such a spoof of being “the bad guys” who are actually so lovable and fun they softened the type up. the episode where they leave their arbok and weezing will forever have me in a chokehold

That said, I believe Seviper is doing her own thing and her only similarity to Arbok is being a poison snake. Otherwise, she has a completely different silhouette and design emphasis (fangs and tail vs Arbok’s cobra “wings”).

8:10 I consider myself a grass type trainer, and omg yes, I feelt a lot in the past the crossover between us grass types and the poison ones.
I’m the type of trainer who will use any Pokémon and I tend to go for ones that have had an impactful or iconic moment.Amoonguss recently had an iconic moment and will always be my go-to poison type because of that. That being said, there’s many other pokémon in the poison type who deserve their flowers and I have many options to pick from when looking for a poison type.
Rest in peace Rachael Lillis, she’s actually carried so many of our childhoods, I’m just in disbelief that she was taken away so early. I’m glad she was able to stay with us until the end of Ash’s journey and the end of Team Rocket, may she rest

@@kannavz3494 You’re equating a simple, elegant look with something cheap. When I look at everything else in the “OKAY!” category, it does not belong. It’s cute, it has crossover appeal, and it could absolutely be a grass or poison trainer’s ace.
@@jmpjmp37 good points, but whilst Oddish is simple and elegant in a grass type category she is giving demure and elegant in the poison type which is more in your face, bold and esoteric she's giving "perhaps it's a poisonous weed" like Oddish gives what Bellosom gives which is girlypop girly grass/plant.
When talking about aces my gen I playthrough bias is showing but whenever I think Oddish I think of 3 examples as ace: 1) the girl before Bills' house (Absorbing Oddish). 2) Wrapping Lass outside Cerulean (stun spore, abosorb Oddish) 3) status condition trainer in cave (she's the only one that sells the poison type but with a Bulbasaur) so yeah as an ace Oddish tends to be much more grass coded than poison.

yess giving alolan muk the recognition he deserves. on my first sun playthrough i wasn't planning on having alolan muk on my team, but i ran into a grimer i couldn't run from bc my popplio was too slow. so i caught him and started using him on my team with plans to swap him out later, but he was a really strong part of my team and i got attached lol. his name is mortimer, the poison touch ability with poison jab, poison fang, and minimize is crazy
