It's impossible not to love Casey Royer. He's the favorite uncle of OC punk. I remember around '86/'87 I was cruising down the PCH and there used to be this punk shop smack dab in the middle of all these million dollar (5 mil today) beach houses in Laguna Beach called Cash For Chaos. But it was never open. It was so weird - the location, the hours. Anyway one day I notice the door is open so I peel off the PCH and head into the shop. It was the most anemic, understocked, underwhelming let-down of a punk shop on the face of the planet but while I was in there Casey Royer walked in fresh from his morning surf and was telling the dude at the counter all about it. So even though Cash For Chaos was a total joke I got to see Casey Royer in surfer mode and that made it worth my time. That and the band MIA had just dropped off some new shirts and I gripped the first one. Wish I still had it so I could add it to my pile of tees people pay me too much on the internet for. PS: the DNA is a great spot. SF has always had great clubs.

@@derekmoody1358 Yip that's the first MIA tour I saw. MIA/SNFU. SNFU blew the minds of the MIA members. For me nothing tops the blazing I Hate Hippies from that split they did in '82. God that song is bitchin'!
I feel like this could be a song. Titled “Cash For Chaos” of course. Or if that’s the band name then maybe the song title could be “Weird Hours” or “Barely Stocked.” Or just “Anemic.” Anyhow it seems like some amusing song lyrics are lurking in that story somewhere.
