at the next morning after a gig, i will get up and get ready with my fender toothpaste and toothbrush, fender bodywash and fender razors and fender logo toilet paper to get going...only after my fender cup of joe....
This video: Hi,I'm *Fender* *Fender* from *Fender* University.I live in *Fender* ,and this is my *Fender* guitar.I clean my *Fender* guitar using my *Fender* microfibre cloth and some *Fender* guitar oil.Don't leave your guitar in a garage, store it in a *Fender* guitar case.If your screws are loose, take your *Fender* screwdriver and tighten them up.If you notice your fingerboard starting to dry up,remove your *Fender* strings and use *Fender* fingerboard remedy and a *Fender* microfibre cloth
I stopped paying attention at 'Fender micro-fibre cloth'. Unless there is something intrinsically special about the Fender product, just call it a micro-fibre cloth. Were there many other 'Fender' products?...
Maybe it's good to have some sort of information on how conditioning is different for different types of fretboard woods. You don't want lemon oil on your maple fretboard, for instance, right?
Very nice, thank you, with respect I propose a few adds. 1) If you have oily, sweaty hands like I do, I wash my hands (with care to not wet my finger callouses) before picking up my guitar, ESP. when waking up. I NEVER pick up my guitar after eating anything with my hands. If you pick up your guitar after eating greasy foods and no hand wash, why are you disrepecting your instrument like this? 2) When using a cloth (for that purpose) involving a spray, change cloths. Don't use the cloth you used to do your fretboard on your guitar body. There are different chemicals in different sprays. Mixing them on your guitar is probably not a good idea
Go to Costco buy a pack of micro fibre cloths . Put one new cloth in each of your guitar cases. When you finish playing give it a little wipe down and put the cloth and guitar back in the case
Um, yeah. Basic stuff. "Check & make sure stuff ain't falling off." Good advice. ("ahem") So that's maintenance, eh? Not according to the guitar's manual it isn't. What about tightening the machine heads? What about checking to see if adjustment's changed? What about oiling the roller-nut (yeah, some of us have one on our Strat)? What about cleaning the 5-way switch contacts to eliminate that staticky-scratchy sound? If the screws are coming out, the 5-way may need more than a simple tightening. Fret dressing? Nut lubrication? Tremelo tune-up? This isn't a "maintenance" video, really. It's sort of an overview of an overview of some screw-it-back-on-so-it-doesn't-fall-completely-off-as-if-you-needed-to-be-told-that stuff. Thank you for what it is, though. I love Fender, & I love my Strat, but you guys are better than this. There's a reason the Strat is the most copied guitar in the world. Own the love!
you make it look too easy, when i spend like 3 hours per guitar.. shoulda had a video on how to handle a really dirty guitar instead of one that doesnt even need what you just did to it.. good climate advice though, but there should be some examples of what can happen as well, things we can look for and come to the reasonable conclusion that it was "the climate" that did this... I know this aint a college course on guitar making but definitely simple info that would help... thanks Fender.
Fantastic video, easy to understand and straight to the point. I wish all instructional videos were like this. If you have a beautiful imstrument, I'd say it's worth keeping clean and watched over.
Do not buy one of those cases because the handle will eventually within a couple of years will break off. They are MIM I believe and handle being offset. Plastic is crap becoming brittle and that’s not leaving in the sun. I even thought I was upgrading from a tweed case the same as I’ve had 10 times longer. So stay away from the MIM road case.

Depends on whether your maple fretboard is lacquered or left 'raw'.If it's lacquered you can use ordinary guitar polish that you would use on the body.If it's raw use spit and polish--literally! Or a damp cloth.Do not not use any sort of oil on either type.
I'm also wondering how to treat a maple fretboard. I have 4 strats and a Tele and everyone has a maple neck. I use professor green's polish and fretboard conditioner on my acoustic, but I've been told to use the polish on the maple neck and I've been told to still use the fretboard conditioner on the neck. Which should I be using?
It's very common for your pickup selector to get loose as it's get's alot of use. yeah... unless you're Simon Neil from Biffy Clyro. He even used to Tape he's selector switch onto Bridge position only haha. He even drops the mid and neck pickup to minimum height as he has such an aggressive style he was cutting he's finger's on the pickups when down picking so hard. (He actually has to use a mixture of glue and varnish on he's fingers an hour before a show to seal he's fingers, as before there used to be spots of blood all over it)
Sounds like he could develop better technique. I'm sure it is possible to have an aggressive style without getting the point you are bleeding on the instrument.

keithsa41 I do find the fender toilet paper to be very satisfactory

Always check the tuners that they are not loose. Wood dries up in a dry environment and the nut on the tuner can become loose because of that.
Glad to see Phil Anselmo is kickin it at Fender. Since he cut back on smoking he is sounding a lot better.
I'm wondering who's eating greasy food then playing guitar
pizza before a gig
Im a cheap ass so why would i buy three hard shell cases for 150 dollar guitars
sees How To | Basic in the title OH GOD
Would the Fender microfiber cloth and Fender Quick Clean spray work on a Les Paul?
Is that a fender watch?
😂

May I know is it ok if my room temperature is 20
I saw *how to basic* and immediately worried what would happen to the guitar
love how he's showing you how to look after your guitar by using an old scratched and dented guitar as an example
i use two wheeler engine oil for conditioning the fret and keeps the strings from rusting. My guitar service guy suggested me this

Can we apply the fingerboard remedy for a maple fingerboard ?
Thanks
no ur instrument will explode :(
Sir fender guitar is a superb massive guitar
Does it works the same for Maple fretboards?
You don't need to oil wood that is sealed with shellac/varnish.
How much do you need to worry about that quick cleaning spray touching the electrical hardware/pickups?
Great video, thank You.
I would love to pic up a mat and neck holder like the one your using . Any idea ,
Cheers 🎸

Do you mean the Fender Machete amp on the left?
Thanks for the advice kingstumble. All are lacquered.
Amp tips like switching speakers, checking caps.

Does the cloth have to be microfiber? If not, what could I substitute it with?
An old t shirt has worked fine for me over the course of 30+ years.
