- Kicking off Women’s History month this week on “Chasing Glory with Lilian Garcia,” Lilian welcomes BACK to the show, the host of WWE Backstage, Renee Young. It’s been over 18 months since Renee was first on Chasing Glory and she talks about her personal life and marriage to Jon Moxley and how she supported him in his decision to leave the WWE. Renee also opens up like NEVER BEFORE on her experience on the WWE commentating table and how she was RELIEVED when she stepped away from those duties. Although her time as a commentator was short lived, she was able to experience calling WrestleMania as well as going to Saudi Arabia. Renee shares her experience going to the Middle East as well as working with Corey Graves and Michael Cole. She talks about being such an integral part of WWE Backstage and why she handpicked Booker T to join her on the show. She also acknowledges why it’s important for females to continuously inspire other females especially in entertainment industry. All this and so much more. Renee on WWE Commentary: Everyone was like, "Great job." Vince is sending out a tweet, which never happens. I was like, oh my God, this is great. And then finding out that you have the job and then everything else starts to settle in, the nitpicking starts to happen. You start to lose focus of what your voice is supposed to be out there and you're getting a lot of different feedback of like, Oh, we just want you to be you or we want to hear the fan's perspective, but we also want you to just be a broadcaster. It was just a lot of different hats and I sort of lost what I was even trying to do or what my tone was supposed to be. You want to hear something different, you were trying to change the way ... WWE is constantly evolving.
I know this probably has zero to do with your topic on your show and I have always said this ever since you were 1st on WWE program, but you are insanely beautiful and I STILL have a crush on you at my 42 years of age.

I miss Lilian Garcia so much, she advertises fights and superstars so well. it marked my whole childhood. and for that I thank her from the bottom of my heart.
Used to watch Renee when she was on The Score up here in Canada. Really awesome seeing how far she's come and the success she's having. Very much deserved.

Lilian is so great at holding a conversation and comes from such a postive space. Her transitions are great too. Love these deep convos about chasing your dreams, the ups and the downs
both of them are such genuine people, great conversation from two people who actually want to talk to each other.
We all respect her for giving it a shot, but this backstage interviewer/analyst stuff is her thing

Renee Young is the first full-time female WWE commentator. For what it's worth, I think that she did a great job.

I like jon but his promos were so much better when he was an indie wrestler. Instead of his mic skillz getting better, they've been getting worse. I used to think it was clearly because wwe writers were writing his promos for him, but now that hes in AEW, hes doing his own promos again but they're still very avg compared to what they were in his early years. I dont get it. Maybe the money and fame killed some of that intensity and hunger, who knows.
Glad to see she doesn’t regret taking her role on commentary, the idea was absolutely worth trying. Hope to see her more and more on SD for hosting segments and interviews

The post show Renee co-hosted was called "Right After Wrestling", later named "Aftermath". And the then 3 co-hosts all ended up working for WWE AT THE SAME TIME. Those 3 were, Renee Paquette (Renee Young), Arda Ocal (Kyle Edwards) and current NXT play-by-play guy, Mauro Ranallo.

have missed Lilian's voice in the WWE, such a great announcer , the passion and the singing after sept 11 was amazing
She was a terrible announcer. When she was on Smackdown the production people spent a lot of time fixing her mistakes.

Renee Young changed the game for female interviewers/analysts in prowrestling and perhaps all analysts in wrestling. Except for the great Lilian, it was a joke in past decades. WWE is now hiring more professional intelligent talkers due to her arrival, IMO. It showed that women could also kick mens asses in analyst and backstage positions. She deserves more credit.

Her commentary though..... My God. She sounds like robotic, overgeneric, lacks passion, and more close to Jonathan Coachman's cringe level. Jerry Lawler is way more audible than this one

Awesome episode as always. Renee has had an incredible journey in and out of WWE. I think she was just added to the commentary team so she could be the butt of the jokes that she is married to Jon. She is at home as the FS1 lead analyst for WWE. She still helps out once in a blue moon on SD. Also, like she said Cole and Graves are the perfect 2 person announce team. She changed the game with her great interviews backstage that they have hired more women in that role.

What if Renee is really the host of "WWE Backstage?" She had been smacked in the face before. That was last year in November when NXT invaded both RAW and SmackDown. Good thing she's ok. She didn't get hurt or anything. She's a trooper indeed.

I love Renee. I think the majority of WWE fans love Renee. We just all knew commentary wasn’t right for her....at this time. And I don’t think it was her fault. She didn’t seem like her true self. Also, three man booths are just really hard to navigate and she just fell into the role of the third wheel who just said “OHHHHH!” and argued with Corey. Even AEW’s three man team gets really convoluted. Also, I think having her on a team with Corey and Cole who can be a bit too much with just the two of them, it just didn’t all mesh together. Maybe she could try again in the future.

I always loved Renee on commentary. I thought she did really well there and still wish she was doing it. That said Corey definitely seemed like he crossed the line with comments at times. I remember one particular moment where he said something to her and she just got all quiet, camera went to her and she just had this look of devastation on her face. More than once I wonder if he made her feel like absolute shit with some of the shots he took at her. I felt so sad for her in those moments. Much love from Canada Renee 🇨🇦💙🇨🇦💙🇨🇦💙

She was terrible on commentary she was even worse than Micahel Cole, also it does not help with Vince on her ear telling what to say. As backstage interviewer and hosting Backstage she is great.

I liked Renee on commentary. She did well considering she had a 74 year old lunatic chirping in her ear all the time.
She did ok, but her outrage at the behavior of heels was very fake. It was obvious she wasnt really angry or disgusted, lol, but her interviewing skillz are 2nd to none! She was the best as a backstage interviewer. All these other girls who replaced her are so awful by comparison. Renee was the best at that job. Aew should snatch her.

I wish Renee had stayed on commentary,I love hearing a different perspective from someone who did not have a full in-ring career,whereas,with people like Corey,you can pretty much tell they know too much about what is going on
Nahh Renee was being suppressed when she was on commentary. She was quite most of the time cause there are all these restrictions on words like things to say and things not supposed to be said. Wwe commentary is the worst cause there is someone screaming in their ear as they try to watch the show on a tab trying to call things by only using certain words.
@John Banks: By know too much,I mean he has been around enough to have had his career cut short by injury, stemming from his time in the ring,so he can pretty much pick up on timing of the big moves,pace of the match,whereas she did not get the experiences he had

I don't know what changed, but when Renee had that small stint in NXT as a commentator I thought she was freaking amazing and would be the eventual heir apparent to Cole, or maybe lead on the opposite brand. Not that she was bad on Raw, but she clearly wasn't the same as she was on NXT.

Thank you for hearing those voices and getting off commentary it's not that you're a bad person it's just some people have the voice and the knowledge for it other people are a third wheel and have an annoying tendency like your strength is interviewing or maybe running a show but not commentating it's a different animal and I'm glad you got off of it because it sucked and it's not your fault but just because I have muscles I can't be a construction worker I would suck
