Indeed. This scene here is just her saying if he spills the beans then there will be repercussions because they serve the city and she can't defend him. Its basically hinting that she doesn't want him to spill the beans to her. 😊
Common theory is Henry told her back in the first episode when she hired Shawn for his second case. Proof that she knows is: during the episode with her sister when Shawn acts like he is about to psychically whatever Vick tells him to stop that and be normal. Also when Shawn takes the lie detector test in S6 she appears visibly concerned and it wouldn’t make sense story wise that she doesn’t know
@@praneethponnada4976 In that case, he was more worried about Jules finding out than Lassie or Vick; after what had happened with her dad and brother. And as for Lassie: back when Vick was interim chief, he was gunning for the official chief position. If the truth got out, there would have to be an internal investigation in which everyone in the room but Lassie would be jailed.
Yeah I'm positive the Chief has known since the start, she worked with Henry and probably knew what he was like/ what Shawn was like already. But since irl police departments are known to use self-proclaimed psychics occasionally, she can continue to hire him and his skills, so long as he never actually comes out and says hes a fake.
I’d say that Vick knows from the start, but always plays it off like she doesn’t. If word got out that Shawn wasn’t actually psychic, he probably wouldn’t be hired anymore by the SBPD. By remaining ignorant, more good for Santa Barbra will be done and everyone (minus the criminals) wins. If Jules didn’t interrupt Shawn when he was telling Vick, the chief probably wouldn’t have let Shawn finish and tell her he’s a fake.
@@praneethponnada4976 Right. It makes sense considering Shawn and Henry weren't on good terms at first. He wouldn't have lied for Shawn. But he did know that Shawnn has the training and potential. So Henry would have told Vick to give him a chance. Really, Jules is the only one who ever believed in the lie.
I've seen a lot of "Does Vick know?" But I always assumed that the answer was shouted at us every episode in the theme song, "I know you know that I'm not telling the truth."
In “Talk Derby to Me” Juliet makes a mistake in the case and is getting chewed out by the Chief when Shawn covers for her and says he made the mistake because of a bad psychic reading. Juliet tells him that she owes him one. This feels like a call back to that episode and her finally making good on that promise.
Definitely love Juliet covering for him and her starting to realize Shawn didn’t lie to hurt her.💖 Also, that picture of Shawn looks horribly hilarious.🤣
It would be pretty interesting if Henry told Vick that he was never psychic since the pilot episode and got her to play along, while also giving her an advantage for cases that they aren't able to legally close due to unobtained warrants and etc.
I never did finish the entire series but I'd be shocked if his father didn't tell the captain. The convictions they have gotten could be over turned because all the suspects were convicted based on evidence. Doesn't matter how Shawn connects the dots as long as it connects to the evidence. One could argue that he does exactly what psychic does.
@@michaelrunk5930 Well I think a "real" psychic doesn't have to do that because they literally just know the answer with no explanation Just depends on if you think psychics are real or not - a fake psychic does exactly what Shawn does, because he IS a fake psychic
The chief knows he's not psychic. She's the head of the police department. She goes along with the act because she knows act aside Shawn has very good detective skills, and I believe that without the 'psychic' title to account for his skills at first he was struggling to get hired. The only person who fully believed he was is Juliet, despite his clear indication he wasn't down right psychic near the end of bank hostage episode.
This is how you do a relationship good in this show yeah, they slowly got back together. I hate it when they have a break up and then miraculous their instantly back together. I dislike those immensely, but this is one of the reasons I love the show.
Imagine it, shawn goes through on telling Karen he’s not psychic and Karen says “I know” Shawn: what? How long? When did you find out? Karen: I’ve known since the beginning, your dad told me your not psychic, but that your gifted. He asked me to play along with it.
I remember seeing a interview, the actress says she thinks that the chief knows. But there'd be problems with the legal system if his arrests where under false pretences or something.
The fact that the chief asked Henry to be in charge of outside resources is the biggest proof that she knows he isn't a psychic. Because she knows that he would correct Shawn if he is wrong!
Chief Vick has always known that Shawn wasn’t psychic. In the first season, she met with Henry in private. Henry always wanted Shawn to be a cop but he also knew that this was about as close to it as he could possibly get. She did this as a favor.
Not only that it would be selfish of juliet to make shawn tell the chief but it would most likely have all the criminals shawn has helped put away (the ones who hasnt confessed) be let out on a technicality. Like czarsky
So many thoughts: This would crashed the police station to the ground, calling into question every "psychic hunch" Shawn had that led to evidence. It would have made Chief Vick look like a fool, as well as the whole police department. Shawn would have lost the only job he had held for over six months....etc....etc...
The real reason Juliet stopped Shawn from revealing his secret before she still has feelings for him. When she stands up from her desk, she and Shawn have a look before he goes into the Chief’s office.
Ah warms my heart when I saw that they worked things out 😊🥰 Shawn : Gus is so Thankful I personally am kind of iffy as to whether or not the chief knows to this day that Shawn is a pretender.
I find it ironic to this day that Lassie always knew, and wound up protecting the secret anyway to keep criminals from walking. I doubt that the word of a private investigator is less binding than that of a 'psychic', but it's still a great character moment from my dude.
It's funny that Juliet in this episode confesses to not following proper protocol to cover for Shawn and then in movie is all about her not following procedures for real to get arrests.
They never really had the obvious conversation. "If you're not psychic, then how do you do what you do?" I wanted to be a fly on the wall for that conversation. But then they just kinda shrugged it all off and moved right past it. If it was ever supposedly explained for her, it was done between scenes. "My mom has this memory thing where she remembers everything she hears. My dad saw signs of something similar but different in me at an early age and tried to use it to turn me into some kind of super-detective... without ever bothering to ask me if I wanted to be a super-detective. And in the process, he inadvertently made it so that I never wanted to go anywhere near the police academy... or responsibility of any kind." Yes, that would be telling the audience what we already knew. But for some reason, I just wanted to hear it laid out in plain terms like that.
Wait seriously, I think in the entire run of the show we never get a scene of Shawn explaining his (let's call them what they are) actual crime-solving superpowers to anyone. It doesn't even have to be much, but just a scene of Shawn explaining "I remember pretty much everything I've ever seen or heard, and my dad trained me to notice things that most people don't."
Vick knows. That discussion always makes me think of a Batman line where he muses that, just like Jim Gordon is too good a detective to have not figured out who he is, Clark Kent's boss Perry White is too good a reporter to have not figured out who Superman is. I think Vick is definitely in the same boat.
Imo they all should've known from the minute he said he got a perfect score on the deductive reasoning detective's exam, it really explains everything. That and/or Henry just straight up told the chief early on, which I think is really likely...
Getting undeniable evidence illegally shouldn’t be thrown out. Yes the rule is there so there isn’t abuse of power and innocent don’t go to jail by mistake. And yet both of those still happen. But if the evidence is strong enough then it shouldn’t matter.
This is the only story line that I didn’t like. Juliet’s blind faith in Shawn. He really didn’t do a lot to hide the fact that he wasn’t psychic. I felt really sad for her character that she was the ONLY person that didn’t know. Throughout the entire show they gave every character, besides Gus, Lassie and Henry, moments where they suspected him and the audience could debate whether or not the person knew.
