- Time to make some parts for a friend's lathe. Adam bought a used Acra lathe at auction and it had some nasty surprises in the apron. Time to get him fixed up with new parts.

I loved the shot of the mirror finished face while you were drilling the part...another great video, keep them coming!!!
Good luck to your friend in his endeavor!
Pretty cool. Hope we get to see the next parts made soon.
I’ve already recorded some more for the pinion gear shaft so hopefully I’ll have another video soon.
Nice work Aaron....
I love that lathe
One of the first things they teach in Dental school is how to hold a lab handpiece. Hold the body of the handpiece with your fingers in your palm and use your thumb to steady against the item you are drilling. Try it and you will never go back to a pencil grip in which you have little control.
Move along, Keith!!
Need more videos my friend
Gday Aaron, it’s always a good feeling when you can help out a mate and save them money, your editing is great, throughly enjoyed watching. Cheers Matty
My man!
very nice ....... 👍😎👍
Why not make new gears, cheaper and you know you get a good job.
I would love to do that, but unfortunately I don't have the tools or skill to cut gears. Adam is checking with some people about replacements so we'll see how that goes.
I'm gonna look at replacing my bronze bushings with needle bearings
That's the longitudinal feed shafts one is on handwheel other on the rack. What would you charge to make 2 shafts like these from spur gear blanks?
i would suggest allways doin the OD first. if you did the od first you cold have used the live-center: 1 roughing cut, 2 finishing cuts; done. and then do the ID
It takes a lathe to make bushings for a lathe. How was the first lathe made?
Nice to see another video
Hiya Aaron
Awesome.
Nice job 👍🏻
Are you recycling those bronze chips?
Yes I gave them to Adam when he picked up his parts.
Always a joy to watch your videos. I can't help but really liking that blue/green color! It really looks elegant. Aaron, am I wrong in thinking you could have pushed the workpiece far into the chuck for the boring operation and facing? Then pull it out for the surface and parting? Just a thought. Thanks for sharing!
Hold the splined shaft in the lathe get it true drill and bore then part it off that way you will get it running true....not cut hold as you wont be able to check it is true.
It has a centre so you can check the round off that when in the chuck.
First time I heard/saw someone prefer camera footage to tolerance with a boring bar lol
I love how you light your shots. Always sunny! 😉
Thanks! I try to put in a good effort on production quality.
Those oil paths are very artsy.
That’s the most generous way to put it 😂
Missed your content, Aaron - glad to see you back! I'm astounded at how much wear was in this part. Nice job slogging through this vital repair.
Those steel parts have suffered from some nasty corrosion, most likely Chloride .
Great vlog, thanks for sharing.
Regards John.
This was a great watch Aaron! Thank you for sharing.
Bronze is so pretty being turned. Good video. Thanks for the new content. Good work as always.
