I’m a native speaker from the US. I promise you that most native speakers would not be able to immediately answer the type of questions that the interviewer is asking. The questions are more tests of logic. They require some thought. For example: “How effective might the ways of learning be?”
What kind of random question is that? 😂

      @@Lexisspace Yes.
I’m a licensed English as a Second Language (ESL) and Spanish as a foreign language teacher. In educational testing, these questions would be called “invalid.” If the purpose of this test is to determine the students’ proficiency in English, it is not a valid test. The test requires high level reasoning skills. This test is assessing the students’ reasoning skills as much as it is testing their speaking skills. One can be a native speaker and not be able to answer these questions.
Another problem is that these questions are not authentic, meaning that they are questions that are highly unlikely to be asked in the real world, definitely not without more context than a picture.
If your goal is to become fluent in English, being able to easily answer these questions are not necessary.

Practice with a clock in your hand. Discipline yourself to maybe one point for each photo, and one reason. Many students make the mistake of going into too much detail on the first photo, because they think they have to explain themselves further. Make sure you answer both questions, and if you've time over at the end (unlikely!) go back and repeat what you have said, paraphrasing.

Do you realize that English levels are on a spectrum?. It's not the same to score high enough to barely pass a C1 exam than it is to be confident enough to consistently get C1 level scores without breaking much of a sweat. If I were you I would remain a bit conservative when it comes to assessing your current English level and not to overestimate it too much. That it not to say that you should undermine your level but to acknowledge that you can get better. By the way , the CAE exam (C1 of Cambridge) has fail rate of over 30% , the highest of all Cambridge exams. It goes without saying that many of them are more underprepared than they want to admit. A well rounded C1 is actually quite hard to reach.

I just didn't understand why he gave the girl a picture. She retold what she saw, and then he gave the guy the same picture.,, You don't think the guy could just hear what she said and retell everything he heard quite fluently and without hesitation. Such examiners should be tested themselves

@@diegohernandezo2282 In the best case scenario you may have the fluency of a B2 user and this is assuming you're fluent, but based on your grammar and vocabulary you're nowhere near close to C1 lol, perhaps you're still in the B1-B2 range. The only way to know is to sit a serious exam. I got 7.5 overall IELTS score and therefore I'm C1 certified by a real exam btw, also achieving a C1 is much harder than you think and you need to meet other criteria , it's not as simple as claiming you've reached because "you're fluent" lol
