Cool! I shot a rugby tournament with my 7Dii and the teams loved them. I was actually considering purchasing a used 1DXii as a second body, because it is so similar to the 7Dii and it is full frame. Thanks for your thoughts!
Would liked to have seen the comparison where both cameras used the same lens with the same camera settings so it would be more of an apples to apples comparison. You were getting a lower ISO with the 7D2 because of the lens you had on that body so hard to compare noise and quality at that stage. Also, would loved to have seen a zoom in to the faces for sharpness and noise comparison. Still a good video just would have loved to have seen a deeper dive. Thanks for sharing.
Yeah fair points. I think in reality if we compared those camera literally like for like in that way then the 1dx wins out. The idea here was more to show the capability of both and showing how comparable the results for 7dii are when the camera is used to suit it's strengths.
Hey Rob, do you still use the 1Dx in everyday business? I'm shooting dogs and dog sports, in and outside, using a 7D II and interested in upgrading to a FF. Is the 1Dx still up-to-date for business or should I get my hand on a 1Dx II?
Hi Rob, I have now the 5d Mark II for a couple of years. I like this one because it is a great allround Camare with great results. But I became nowadays more into sport photography and I'm looking for a better canon boday for shooting sports. I don't want to spend that money as the Canon EOS 1DX mark II. I want to spent around the 1000 tot 2000 Euro. Do you think the 7D Mark II is stil these days (2019) a good one to buy or do you have better options for shooting sport in this price range (1000-2000 Euro)? Thanks for your opinion!
Hi Rob, Would be great to get your opinion. I am a sports photographer, mainly rugby and football. I was looking to buy a Canon 1DX Mark II but ideally I need 2 cameras when shooting sport. Due to this, I am considering buying 2 Canon 1DX's (second hand) as they cost the same as 1 1DX Mark II (second hand). Is there a great deal of difference between the image quality between the 2?
Yeah I think the 1dx is a step up from the 7dii in most areas. That said the 7dii is still a really capable camera and you should feel a desperate need to change unless there are things that you think the 1dx will give you that the 7dii isn't.
Thanks for the Wednesday evening entertainment. I really appreciate it. I think at every basketball game I’m going to shoot, the halls get darker and darker. Well, I’m far away from shooting near the league your shooting, and those teams use whatever hall they can get. My recent upgrade from the 5M2 to the 1dx last December helped a lot. You successfully proofed again, that you still can make great photos with a budget equipment. Actually even my 1dx was somehow on a budget. I got it in good condition for around 1200£. But I admit that I had to spend 6 month to search/wait for that bargain.
I have two 7 d mii bodies along with 5d miv,5dsr and 1dx mii. 7d mii benefits descent frame rate, good auto focus system ,crop factor comes in handy, ergonomics are fantastic, with a lot of customization of buttons and dials, images are fine. But full frame rocks and the newer sensors are fantastic plus the images at higher i.s.o. are much cleaner. But 7d mii price is great for someone who would like a great camera for fast action photography. Alot of your image problems can be the man behind the tool, white balance should be set by the photographer auto anything is a complete waste of time. I manually set everything. Once you rely on a cameras ai you set yourself up for failure. As always today's cameras guess in auto modes. You as a photographer should be in control. I shoot RAW ,RGB ADOBE color space,NUETRAL picture style, SPOT METER 95 % of the time EVALUATIVE METERING for flash and times there isn't a lot of tonal differences ae excessive brights or dark areas,MANUAL SHUTTER/APERTURE, MANUAL I.S.O.,WHITE BALANCE SET IN KELVIN OR CUSTOM W.B.
Hey, Rob! What are your thoughts about the buffer capacity of the 1dx? It takes forever to write everything (around 30 raw photos) in the card, no? I read that it takes about 8s to clear the buffer, isn't that too much? Thanks
If I'm shooting bursts I'm shooting jpeg mostly. I've never had any issues with the buffer myself. That said I can't imagine I'd ever fire off 30 frames in one hit.
I own both plus 5ds after recently purchasing a low shutter 1dx on your advice....thanks. Heres my experience.... Image quality - For under iso3200, both 1dx and 7dii are very usable. For over iso3200, the 1dx all the way. My only issue with the 1dx is the lack of anti-flicker which I noticed using both in a martial arts session. As to the quality of an image resolution, the 7dii in good light has similar image quality to my 5ds. In fact, I can barely tell any difference between two photos on the same bright day. Ergonomics and usability - Both cameras have differing functions. I prefer the lighter weight and function dial of the 7dii. Focus - I do notice the 7dii is quicker at focusing. I feel the speed is down to the dual pixel autofocus.

Hi, thanks for sharing your experience. Which camera is better for rhythmic gymnastics photography? I like it canon eos 1dx but is it enough? thanks
Thanks for this video !
For me, 1Dx hands down (color, contrast).
Thanks for watching
Hello Rob I no longer see the link to download the photos and see the comparison
Greetings.

In that price range I thubk a 7dii would be great. Maybe a used 1div could work as an option too
@@RobSambles Thanks for your opinion.
@@RobSambles And what about the High ISO quality in low light situations?
i know theres a more modern 1dx mk11 for some reason i want an 1dx im still learning , just bought a canon 90d thanks for the video!!!
Thats great thanks!
Great video again mate , I just purchased a 28-70mm f2.8 for my 5d mkii so will be interesting to see what's its like .
Thank you
Hi, do u use raincover while using 1dx or 7dmii, both being weather sealed
Yes I do. They are weather sealed yes but I don't see the point in taking the risk for no reason
not a chance the 1dx is far more better after 800 iso. i have both and i shoot the 1dx at 3200iso with no problems the 7dII well...

Would it be a upgrade from my 7d mk2 to 1d X ? For wildlife

Loved this vid, Rob. Nice one.

Very cool review.. the legendary 1dx still rocking today.. so awesome!
In your opinion, how 7D Mark I ?
Great camera, used it for ages. It struggles at higher iso compared with mark ii though
