Step by Step Guide on how to play these: 1: Crack your knuckles 2: Drink 5 cans of RedBull 3: Drink 15 shots of coffee 4: Snort 5 lines of cocaine, each being EXACTLY 1 foot long (if you do any more, you might accidentally play Hungarian Rhapsody #2 by Liszt). Good luck.
As I'm learning it right now, I can assure you that, surprisingly, it ain't the most dificult part of the prelude, it is quite logical and "falls easily under the hand" if you see what I mean
The recording by Gershwin himself is avaible (on UA-cam or IMSLP) It's interesting to compare the score music and the performance by the composer (it's possible with certain works by Bartok, Ravel, Poulenc...) I love your channel et I spend lot of time to watch Chopin. What an enormous work you did. Thank so much.
Amazing how he plays these preludes. I gave the third one a try and uploaded it on UA-cam here on my channel. After listening to Zimerman I think I need to go back to practice =D
Wow, do these stand up well after all the years gone by! Still wonderful, beautiful, exciting, innovative music! Just heard an American pianist named Norman Krieger play the second prelude just beautifully right here in Salt Lake City!
effective deviations from the score (eg. grace notes in bar 2 leading to the Aflat) and the concluding bass note. Much more idiomatic than Kissin who is also outside of what we normally associate him with.
Yes, he did! I love the movie Humoresque. I read that Levant grated on Joan Crawford’s nerves. They mixed like oil and water, but he and John Garfield got along famously. When Garfield was shown up close playing the violin, there was actually one violinist doing the fingering and another doing the bowing as Garfield held the violin under his chin, and Levant accompanied on piano. Levant, being his usual witty self, quipped, “The four of us should go on a concert tour.” 😂
i can only play the 3rd but my advice is to GO SLOW. speed will come with time. and don't try to play the big intervals, just roll them; no-one will know. good luck! in bocca lupo x

okay like this guy just ripped a guy playing this off youtube in low quality and pirated sheet music for it that doesn't even coincide with what's actually being played
Gershwin = genius
Zimerman = genius
Too true.
Obviously…
My favorite pianist until now performing from my favorite composer ever !
I do really enjoy the first one. This is music!

Andrew Rhoads I’ve got down the first and third, I think the second is going to be easy.
Cringe. These aren't that difficult.
@@Aaron-hq4bu Now that I know how to play them, you're right lol. There are Gershwin pieces that I've played which are much much more difficult.
ok
Zimmerman: I did that!
Ahhh, I never played this piece again I regret taking cocaine…..
Thanks very much--he plays the slow movement beautifully.
Sehr kultivierte und intelligente Aufführung dieser kompakten Meisterstücke mit klarem Schlag des Klaviers. Danke!
The last page of the last prelude is insanely hard! Fun tho...
Not "insane" but pretty difficult
As I'm learning it right now, I can assure you that, surprisingly, it ain't the most dificult part of the prelude, it is quite logical and "falls easily under the hand" if you see what I mean
The begining of the second prelude is very similar to the second prelude in a minor by Chopin.
Warning! As a piano student learning one of these, do not even attempt if your hand cannot reach a ninth! Big, fast octaves approaching!
Hogwash. It's harder but rolling is always an option. I played this in college and can only reach an octave. 😊
Fun fact These are part of trinity's grade 8 exam pieces this year
HA the end of the third one with those trills smh
I can reach a ninth pretty comfortably, but not a tenth, would I be alright playing this piece?
@@army-tr3rx which piece do u have to reach an 11th in? I’m guessing a Rachmaninov or Liszt piece?
Best American composer.
And one of the very best of all time.
These are such brilliant pieces.
This definitely has a New York City flavor which is exactly what it should have. Ah for the days of hot chestnuts and the Automat.
Fantastic performance by Zimmerman! Just recorded a piano duo version of these marvelous miniatures ❤
The recording by Gershwin himself is avaible (on UA-cam or IMSLP)

George Gershwin is the best American composer.
DJKLProductions no doubt but this guy butchers it
John Cage, my dear boy.
Il y a scoot joplin aussi 😆
Charles Ives is the greatest American composer, but Gershwin is more accessible, so he gets the air-time.
Barber,cage,Ives,copland etc
Great music. Gershwin was a genius.
THE JAZZ!! ITS TOO POWERFUL!!!
Oh my word. Lovely.

Marvellous interpretation, even more groovy and beautiful than the one which maestro Gershwin recorded himself.
Beautifuly played

@@GICM True
I get to play this for a piano competition but I get to pick 2 of three which two should I do?🤔
1 and 2
1 and 2, and for rubato, choose either this one or Leonard Pennario's
Which one did you pick? They are great! Hard to decide indeed!
@@Whatismusic1234 I did one and two. Two was definitely the easiest
Humoresque brought me here. The wonderful Oscar Levant played the second and third.

I think this is a cool piece
Which one?
@@yuk_notkim7658I am wondering too…

Second Movement played in the brilliant mini-series: "The Plot Against America," based on Philip Roth's novel.
legendary
Any tips on playing/practicing this?
For this piece you have to practice 40 hours at day.

Why is the audio so messed up?
Hay una reminiscencia del primer preludio en Frevo de Egberto Gismonti.
Perfect 🙂🎵🎹🇬🇷
These are definitely inspired by chopin.
Which ones by him do you reckon?
Man I would love to hear Zimerman play some Kapustin
Also part of me wonders how he'd do if he tried to play a tatum recording hehe
Awesome!!!!
can someone w small hands play these?
depends how small
The Classical Nerd of Classical but like how small
If your hand is less than 1cm, then no
thanks for uploading
even better with the sheet music
sublime playing. The 3rd prelude could be Rachmaninov!
1:22
haven't played all 3, but i can play the third. it's very fast and very fun to play!!
Thinking about relearning for fun
Douglas Smith I think you definitely should! These pieces are beautiful.
This is really Zimerman?
Did you see the url of original video? ;)
Yes, it is.
Why would you doubt it?
Maybe the recording itself is off but this is choppy
Doesn’t sound that way to me.
Brand new by the Colombian piano rebel:
George Gershwin: Three Piano Preludes - Eduardo Rojas
Enjoy!
As much as I love Zimmerman’s Chopin I must say this interpretation lacks the feel and rhythm of Gershwin. Sounds more like a technical work.
Who is the Pianist?
Krystian Zimermann, who many consider to be the greatest ever pianist
Wrong! Liszt, Rachmaninoff, Horowitz, Rubinstein, Gould...
Wrong! Beethoven, Chopin, Alkan, Lupu...
Wrong! bacn

el 1º lo toca en presto, no alegro. 2º tb demasiado rapido. 3º tb lo hace presto
Escucha la versión que grabó el propio Gershwin. El segundo lo toca rapidísimo y sin apenas "swing".

Gershwin....the Amnerican Classic.
i don’t think this is Zimmerman
See the description: you can see overthere the url of the live video
live from Japan. there's another video of him playing the same piece
Why would you doubt that it’s him?
This is from the concerto in F?
No. The Piano Concerto is independent work
Sorry, but they’re not. These are Gershwin’s 3 Preludes, which are independent of any other work by him.
MMM....
.....
Horribly played here, without finesse, humor, humanity. That amounts to profanity regarding George Gershwin and his delectable 3 PRELUDES.
Sorry, can’t agree. This is one of my favorite interpretations, his and Levant’s.
not as good as my 11year old big brother
