    Love your video's ❤ You really understand beginner's. You're very very helpful. My question is - what is your preferred way to store slabs or colour mixes before you use them. Or do u make things on demand. I am making slabs and colours and putting them in Glad Press n Seal. I was going to store them in a clear file folder. Question 2: A brand of clay here in NZ called Du Kit is a good PC but not as easy to work with for newbies as Souffle or Premo as it's slightly sticky. In your experience, has leaching clay (to remove stickiness) (any brand) made the clay weaker or more brittle when baked, or not as durable?

    Hi Nicole,
    It's Monday, August 19th and originally I was suppose to be on holiday in California with my Dad but he has not been feeling well so the trip was cancelled. I live in Virginia in a very old part of town called Westover Village in a very tiny studio apartment,3rd floor,no elevator and they call it a Flat. It's registered with the historical society so nails and molly bolts are not allowed so other than my foyer and bedroom being decorated my living room walls are blank. My Mum passed away and she left me most of her wonderful furniture so I am a bit overwhelmed with all I have. This week I need to make great use of my time to finish unpacking and with a small storage unit in the basement 2 small closets in the flat, no bathroom vanity I have to be constructive. I am the only female where I work and I work very long hours and come home very tired. I so want to make a craft area in my bedroom to get going on my crafts for an upcoming 3 day sale in November. My sewing machine is in my bedroom. But would like to find a simple desk to use for my beading and eventually polymer creations. I have been itching to try a hand at it. I have a few tools and I already have a Dremel for woodworking. I have a little oven that was my Mum 's called a Bagal toaster oven, but you can also bake in it. Most ovens are horizontal and this one is vertical so it's quite nice in a tiny kitchen. I am saving to buy my own little house.
    I have a friend whose polymer jewelry is out of this world and since seeing and meeting her at the country fair 2 years ago I had been itching to try it but at the time I was moving out of my Mum's house and packing it up and working full time. This winter I really want to try it for sure and I rec'd my bought a tiny bird house for earrings. I am just buying one mold to make sure I can succeed at the art.
    Out of all the videos about this art you have the most formative video and you covered all my questions.
    My Dad is from Manchester, England. He came over in the Queen Mary September 1947 with his Mum and Dad as a 9 year old after the war. I will subscribe to your Instagram account also.
    Have a wonderful day,
    Rebekah

    Love the mirror, it is one unique piece ❤❤❤ a hug for ur daughter for coming up with the idea ❤❤❤
    Can u talk bout using chalk pastels and alcohol inc with polymer clay in ur next session please? Because they come out either dark, either pale but never the same 🤦 it's a bit frustrating. Lots of tutorials say they are using cheap pastels but the results are so gorgeous 🤦

    Thanks for your post. I think you might reconsider going landscape as it allows people to see better, but I understand why you chose to do it the way you have. I like the slab square, its better then popsicle sticks.

    Thanks for this session. I am a newbie to PC and my attempts so far were a bit mediocre but I have reminded myself that everyone has to start at the beginning and practice makes perfect.
    I also use the Fimo and Cernit clays but I started using the DAS brand and wouldn't recommend it even for practicing (absolutely horrid stuff).
    Great to finally know how thick the slabs need to be to get a good result 👏.
    Polymer Clay isn't easy to find from a single reliable supplier in the nice colours you use in South Africa but we do have the primary colours to blend so I'm happy for now.
    Lastly, I absolutely love your tutorials they are easy to follow along.
    Had an idea to cover one of my coiling tools (used for wire work) with PC since the grip it came with is very flimsy, hopefully it will be a success.
    ❤❤❤

    I will check that oven out. Thank you so much for this much needed information. Question: what machine do you use to condition your clay to make it softer to use, where do you get it and what is the cost? Thank you so much for sharing. Love watching your videos, they brighten my day and so very helpful.

    Ok, I have a question that I haven't been able to find an answer for. I'm about to try my hand at making earings but I'm unsure of how much clay you cut off when you open a new pkg. In all the different videos I've watched I've never heard anyone tell you how much to cut off. I hope my question makes sense.

      It really depends on
      - what you are making
      -the size of the cutters you are using
      -designs that are being applied etc.
      The more you play around, and start experimenting and making - you will get a feel for the amounts.
      As a beginner, maybe start with 1/4 of the block and roll to approx 3mm thick (this is my preferred thickness) from there you should be able to judge if you need more or less. Quite often I have to adjust my amounts. Any scraps can then be re-mixed and reused. So nothing will go to waste.
      Hope that helps!

    Thanks for this video. You gave me a lot of information and ideas to use my clay. I haven’t gotten into resin yet but I do have a box waiting for my confidence to build.

      Glad it was helpful! Definitely give resin a go! Even if it’s just with some scrap pieces! Playing around is a great way to build confidence. Just make sure you use proper PPE to stay safe!

    I started making polymer clay earrings and your video's helps me alot. There are people asking me do i sell my earrings. I want to, but how do i make my pricing?

    Hi Nicole my questions are what is the ideal thickness for earrings and necklaces.

    • @TheLittleCraftHouse
      @TheLittleCraftHouse  Рік тому +1

      Good question! I like to do my earrings to 3mm. If I plan to resin them I will make them slightly thinner- so once the resin is added they aren’t too thick and heavy and I can still use my findings without issue.
      Necklace pendants I will do the same- however if they are slightly thicker it is generally ok.

    Which is easier to condition, Fimo soft or Sculpey Premo?

    • @TheLittleCraftHouse
      @TheLittleCraftHouse  Рік тому +2

      Definitely Sculpey Premo. The ‘soft’ in Fimo Soft is a bit deceptive 😜
