When you play Bbdim7 and then E7, what is the tonic of the lick, i.e. what chord or chords are represented by that combination? Thanks, you sound great!
Dont understand your explanation@@MarcoPanzarellaBass . In the tone of CM7 for example.... the 5th is G7... When my progression is 2-5-1 i replace the 5th by Gdim or im wrong ????
@@marcmimi6810 Hi thank you for reaching out with your question. I understand that music theory can sometimes be a bit tricky. In a 2-5-1 progression in the key of C major, the chords are Dm7 (2), G7 (5) and CM7 (1). When we replacing a G7 with a G diminished scale (S/T) we're substituting the G7 chord. Diminished chords have a distinct sound adding tension in a progressions but it changes the harmonic direction slightly, offering a different resolution to the CM7. I hope this clears things up, check out this post: bassadvice.com/diminished-harmony-for-bass-players/
Am I right? You start with explaining the Cdim arpeggio: C Eb F# and A. So far so good. Then you say: from these chord tones you get four different dominant chords. You play C-E-A# and go further up on the neck with three more. Am I missing a step here? How and why did Eb turn unto E and A turn into A# when you play the C chord?

I'm replacing C7. I was playing over a Gmin | C7 progression and used Bbdim and Eb7 over C7 and went back to Gmin
