Hopefully, glad they did 2 first though. As good as the story is, I feel that 2 would feel sparse in comparrison if 1 was at the same technical level. I played 1 after playing 2 and couldn't help but feel that 1 had way more variety in just about every department.
I'm a newer Silent Hill fan. I got into the franchise from the SH2 Soundtrack (just goes to show how good that soundtrack is), and I've played all of SH2 and a bit of SH3. When I heard the remake was being made, no matter what, I supported it. Even when the entire world wanted to write it off, so it feels so good that the game is being praised!
I'd actually compare this to the RE1 remake. They added so much and barely took anything away and if it's not in the game to the same extent, there is a reference to it in some way or it's been repurposed somewhere else.
Literally this! Def more like re1 remake than re 2 remake. Honestly this make re 2 remake so bare bones. They really didn’t add much and they seem to took more away than add. I think that game got over glorified. This is the best remake I’ve ever played
@fordv-e3c Agree. If it wasn't for the inspired choice to have Mr. X after you for most of the game, I think people would have been a lot more critical of the stuff that was cut. Personally, I would've preferred they retain the Zapping System and have Mr. X stalk you in scenario B.
@@JoesGuy i love the original too, i still have my ps2 copy, but the remake is superior in almost every way with some few exceptions. The most notable one is the letter reading in the endings, the voice actress is good but the OG has that real emotion to it

It's a full-on descent into hell that has no equal, even the original. I was deeply scarred after completing the originial in 2001. Now, the effect is a bit different for me. What affected me the most is the length and all the time you spend in pitch black with so little lighting. The decrepitude is absolutely sublime and it makes me feel like a weirdo for loving this so much. At the same time, it makes me depressed after a while. All the expanded locales, including all the bits between major buildings is what I loved the most. The "ghost town" feeling of the first couple hours and even the balconies in the hotel are welcome additions. The 3rd person perspective makes it way more immersive. I beat it on Hard first and died 147 times, no joke. Some boss fights are really brutal and require near perfection, especially the dual Pyramid Heads and the 3rd part of the last boss. I'm glad a new younger generation of gamers get to experience this masterpiece in its best iteration. We love the same horror games : Dead Space, Alan Wake II and all the RE remakes. Silent Hill still feels like a different beast because of all the taboos it tackles and the relentless atmosphere. The Toluca prison and the following labyrinth were the most anxiety-provoking parts for me. This is the best thing I know in horror, we usually get those once or twice every decade. No movie or series can reach those heights, since you don't have agency. To me, there's nothing that reaches the heights of Silent Hill in terms of horror. Just like in the movie Sinister, the more you know about what is happening, you find out that it's way worse than you thought. The conditions for hell to descend in Silent Hill's world is nightmare fuel. I won't spoil it for now, but it's well explained in Homecoming, a mightily underrated entry in the franchise; probably the best that wasn't made by Japanese producers. Enjoy!
I vaguely recall playing some of the old games being a 42 year old gamer. This has been amazing, the only thing I would advise anyone who is going into this is to play it with headphones and late at night.
I'm absolutely in Awe! Silent Hill in general and especially Silent Hill 2 are my all-time favorite survival horror games and I struggled with depression when the original SH2 released and it really saved my life as it helped me to forget my struggles so to see Bloober team do the Remake SUCH justice has made me incredibly happy! I'm about to finish Blue Creek apartments and I've loved EVERY second and am excited for my physical copy to arrive this morning from Amazon
I played this on my PS2 around 2003 I think and it stuck with me. This remake is gold. Bloober Team treated this game with the exact care old fans like myself really appreciate.
Im absolutely in love with the game so far! I am a huge fan of the original so my expectations were high. They captured the atmosphere of the town so well. It feels cold and desolate as it should be. The combat has a Dark Souls feel to it, albeit a lot more clumsy and limited. And I mean that in a positive way! You can't just smash/shoot your way through the level, Resident Evil 4 style. Taking on two monsters at once can already be risky, and is enough to get overwhelmed. But it doesn't feel as stiff and boring as the original combat system (which has always been my least favorite part of the original). All it all, they absolutely nailed it with this one! They respected the source material, didn't overstep their bounds, yet still managed to make it feel fresh and new. Even for seasoned SH players. Great review! 👍
If Konami has any sense they will add a VR mode to this ASAP. Beardo Benjo is already saying SH2R in VR is way scarier than the base game. Not going to spoil it by watching his video tho.
Im extremely impressed as well. I wish the melee hits felt a bit better and more impactful. I know thats never been a priority or even that important with the OG silent hill games but if they refined that a bit it would jump from a 9/10 to a 10/10 for me.
Yeah no. When James rears back and home run derbies one of those creatures with all his might it looks and sounds so great. The combat isn't the highlight of the game just like the original but they did an excellent job with it still. Much better than Callisto Protocol.
Same I’ve never played this one ☝🏾 because SH on ps1 scared me to death 😂 as a kid. I’ve only played the demos of SH3 and SH the Room on ps2 Jam Pack discs. Like RE 1997 I had to conquer my fears with RE2 Remake and now RE is one of my favorite games to play beating RE3,4,5,8, and I’m about to beat 0. Now I will conquer this game once and for all by getting it this weekend 🙂😌😌😎 and introducing my 12 year old nephew to the franchise as he’s become a fan of RE growing up watching me play them over the past 7 years.
I know people really like the original voices, but it's cool to hear good actors read dreamlike "uncanny" vs inexperienced actors sounding unreal because the script is so weird and most likely doing their best despite not knowing exactly what is happening.
maybe i need more time to think, but this might be in my top 5 games ever. i loved the OG but the remake just takes everything great and makes it incredible… truly an unreal experience for me.
I would love for them to take over the franchise, seriously. I’m beyond impressed. Feels very impactful, atmosphere is top notch and on the technical side this being UE5 I was shocked at how moderately good it was performing for the PS5. Bravo 👏
And here I thought I could play it in the hardest difficulty from the get go... Oh boy was I wrong. Even in Normal, the enemies are relentless, and the resources are limited. Definitely harder than the OG. Kudos to Bloober to make me scared of SH once again.
I actually was hoping a nightmare mode would be an option I’ve got 7 syringes 15 health drinks and 80 pistol rounds in the hospital 😅 will say that I have died a ton but that’s because I’m rather aggressive with my melee and trying to minimize damage is a fun thing for me
I'm playing it on my steam deck cuz I don't have a PS5 yet and so far I'm enjoying my time with it. It oozes with atmosphere and So far it seems to be a pretty great remake growing up I played silent Hill 2 but resident evil 4 was always my favorite of the two. But so far it's great blooper did a great job I'm kind of impressed
So many games have kinda let me down in the last few years with big glitches, overly busy menus and inventories and also just simply uninteresting gameplay. One of the few good good game to really grab me personally was RE2 remake. I have replayed that so much. It really made me feel like a kid once again. It sounds like this SH2 remake will do the same and I'm looking forward to bagging it.
It’s really good but I haven’t finished my first playthrough. There are a bunch of glitches, frame drops, graphic issues but despite that it’s feeling like a really unique game like the original. So glad they made this and hopefully Konami sees how much people want good silent hill games.
Konami got their shit together and when resident evil is great and silent hill is now back we are eating well when silent hill is good the horror genre is in good hands not dead.
Awesome review, man! I appreciate the detail you go into in your reviews. I watched Easy Allies' Isla and Huber discuss this remake also as mega fans and they loved it too. I wanted the physical version of this one so I decided to wait the extra few days. Looking forward to playing!
I'm pretty excited about checking out this game myself. I have it pre-ordered, but my copy doesn't come in the mail until Monday... Either way I'm excited! I actually thought 'Downpour' had some great exploration of 'Silent Hill' and this looks like it may have that game beat! I know how that sounds BTW, but I'm just saying 'Downpour' gave us a great 'SH'.
I loved the game. It's 4:30 AM and I barely slept ever since AA was released. It is safe to say I will be very sleepy tomorrow at work. xD The only thing this game lacks is the ability to opt in for a First-Person perspective. The only bad thing that I want removed is the fact that the insects emit radio static but those fucking manwuins don't. They run, hide and hit you from where you don't expect them, even if you check every corner. I'd say it is a 10/10 easily, even with how annoyijng the mannequins are at times. Especially when they become spiders and you have to start paying attention at the walls more than normal. I think SH2 is easily the Game of The Year and I am no SH fan. I just like the genre.
Loved silent hill 2 as a kid, loved the medium (I know it’s a hot take). That being said I was not worried at all and they exceeded my expectations still this game is my GOTY easily.
Not every female in a game has to be your stereotypical super model hot chick, this game works better when the people look like real people, your average everyday person
I don’t think I’d even play it with them honestly it might be too much lol even re7 vr was a bit much for me at times I guess I’ll have to grow some balls 😅
It definitely is especially on harder difficulties like extreme there’s hardly any ammo or health. The mobs are much stronger and force greater control over shooting and conservation. I don’t think you have played it on extreme difficulty before because anyone who has would completely disagree. SH is just a game more about the scary things than the action focus aspects of RE.
I played the original back in the day and this does look fantastic. However I'm not sure if I can put up with the slow paced methodical wandering around right now
Now this is a remake i like, from over 2 decades ago. Not a ps4 remaster. Any classic remake from the golden age era of gaming i would be happy to play. Just sucks that some of the character models look not as nice as the og. Just looks more realistic this remake
That shirt goes hard man. Where did you order it by chance? Also this remake far exceeded my expectations. Can't wait to dive into Brookhaven when i get home later!!
just imagine, if Konami and Bloober could leave the "woke" and "SBI" things on side, and keep the same as original, the female (and nurses) characters beauty and sexuality, and keep the same level of sexual gore, then the game could get max score now, with no complains at all. Now is almost perfect, but imagine how much it could be better if today could be the same rules as it were in 2001.
wtf are you talking about there’s nothing woke about this. Yall don’t even know wtf woke even means anymore yall just be saying whatever tf atp and calling any games made post 2020 woke. Just shut up 😒😂 and enjoy the game. They put their foot 🦶 in this one ☝🏾 just like Capcom has done with RE. This will only make RE9/RE1 Remake more amazing next year. The rivalry between Capcom and Konami is back and I expect to see a SH3 Remake coming and Dino Crisis Remake soon within the next 5 years.
@@kusansimpson2514 yeah good example - RE 2 /3 remakes, so I would like to ask you: Do you see the ugly female characters there? or females looks almost like a trans males? Did Capcom made beauty worst and less se, xu, al looking that it were in original the answer is NO. They even made them MORE beauty and attractive. Did Konami, Bloober made that changes to worst? yes. Why? The answer is "w, o, ke, and mod, ern audie, nces, "S B I", etc. And read my comment again: I'm happy and I love the SH2 remake - I just said that it could be 10/10, 100/100 ideal game with zero negative reviews, IF they could leave ideo, logi, cal things on the side.
@@Radek__i get your point and dont like that trend either but i'm playing it for 10 hrs now , i've not seen anything woke about it ; Actually i think most of the so called modern gamers will not even get whats so special about this game because its subtle and thoughtful , something many cannot comprehend anymore
I know horror is very opinionated but SH2r is the scariest game I’ve played Allen wake 2 was definitely up their but this games ability to maintain tension and that feeling of pure oppression is much better than Allen wake 2.
If I had to rank all the games mentioned in terms of the scariest, and this is completely subjective: 1. Silent Hill 2 2. Dead Space 3. RE2 4.RE7 5. RE Village 6. RE3 7.RE4 The idea of walking through the town of Silent Hill and hearing that god awful siren again send shivers down my spine in a good way.
Out of the original 4, which SH would you say is scariest? Also, I haven’t purchased the remake but I plan to in order to support the developers work, hopefully to see more of such things in the future. I started replaying the original version, I’ve been playing mainly the newer RE entries lately. I love both series, but immediately I felt how much heavier the atmosphere of SH is, it’s dark and depressing. Don’t get me wrong, RE has it’s moments too, but it’s a lot more ‘fun’ and action heavy, and scary, but when I enter SH, it just feels cut off from the rest of the world, like I’m in the actual town
I love silent hill 2 and love original had both on day release and both will be in my heart till I die now only thing I’ll say is play it on pc the console editions don’t look good once you played on pc
Remake is good but the PS5 version is partly an outrage, graphics bugs and clitches and a constantly flickering picture! some of the textures are quite low resolution. I have the impression that this is intentional in order to come along with the PS5 “pro” ... what a poor testimony this PS5 is and was, with only one very good and BEAUTIFUL 60FPS PS5 game and that was Demons Souls.
It completely blew my expectations. I can’t believe how good it is

maybe i need more time to think, but this might be in my top 5 games ever. i loved the OG but the remake just takes everything great and makes it incredible… truly an unreal experience for me.
Where did you get your sweater from, mate? I wanna buy one myself. 🙂
Great video. Blew my mind too. My expectations were high. ❤
The thing for me that makes it scary is how unrelenting it is. Its heavy and oppressive and never lets up.
I actually was hoping a nightmare mode would be an option I’ve got 7 syringes 15 health drinks and 80 pistol rounds in the hospital 😅 will say that I have died a ton but that’s because I’m rather aggressive with my melee and trying to minimize damage is a fun thing for me
@@TheLeadG Yeah, I reached the hospital, and thank god resources started to appear more often.
@@shsz1984 Still IMO a good difficulty I like it when a game is challenging it pads the length which I do enjoy
Only 3k subs? Madness I expect to come back here next month and see 10k!
Is the map linear,Open world,or area ?
Same kind of style as resident evil but slightly more open feeling
It’s really good but I haven’t finished my first playthrough. There are a bunch of glitches, frame drops, graphic issues but despite that it’s feeling like a really unique game like the original. So glad they made this and hopefully Konami sees how much people want good silent hill games.
Dude, the long sleeve, where can I get it?
Konami got their shit together and when resident evil is great and silent hill is now back we are eating well when silent hill is good the horror genre is in good hands not dead.
Awesome review, man! I appreciate the detail you go into in your reviews. I watched Easy Allies' Isla and Huber discuss this remake also as mega fans and they loved it too.
I wanted the physical version of this one so I decided to wait the extra few days. Looking forward to playing!
"Isla"
I'm pretty excited about checking out this game myself. I have it pre-ordered, but my copy doesn't come in the mail until Monday... Either way I'm excited! I actually thought 'Downpour' had some great exploration of 'Silent Hill' and this looks like it may have that game beat! I know how that sounds BTW, but I'm just saying 'Downpour' gave us a great 'SH'.
Sir, your review is spot on.
I traded in my sports games in order to pre order this game I can’t wait to play this
SH2 Remastered will be my introduction into the franchise
It’s not hard to say remake
@@jollamayeah idk why people don’t get the difference between a remaster and a remake
This game is incredible.
1) I would love your channel to become super successful.
2) Enjoy the allnighter SH2 experience!
3) Super expectant for the full review!
What are your top 3 scariest games of all time ??
The remake is amazing. Holy cow, currently playing through it and maaan i love it
Loved silent hill 2 as a kid, loved the medium (I know it’s a hot take). That being said I was not worried at all and they exceeded my expectations still this game is my GOTY easily.
So proud of my country for this remake 🇵🇱🇵🇱🇵🇱❤❤❤
They really need to fix Marias face. For some reason it looks like she has a big head and a masculine jaw line.
Not every female in a game has to be your stereotypical super model hot chick, this game works better when the people look like real people, your average everyday person
Can you still wield the great knife?
No other game could benefit from VR more than this one
I don’t think I’d even play it with them honestly it might be too much lol even re7 vr was a bit much for me at times I guess I’ll have to grow some balls 😅
Re4 is not a survival horror game please don't spread misinformation to the viewers
Wonder if they'll make Born from a Wish as DLC?
There are times that I really got scared it's the atmosphere and sound really creeps me out
I played the original back in the day and this does look fantastic.
I just wish they never put that shit in at all
wtf are you talking about there’s nothing woke about this.
@@Radek__i get your point and dont like that trend either but i'm playing it for 10 hrs now , i've not seen anything woke about it ;
Actually i think most of the so called modern gamers will not even get whats so special about this game because its subtle and thoughtful , something many cannot comprehend anymore
I know horror is very opinionated but SH2r is the scariest game I’ve played Allen wake 2 was definitely up their but this games ability to maintain tension and that feeling of pure oppression is much better than Allen wake 2.
This is an unbelievably good impressive game. Better than most horror game i ever played
I’ll subscribe just because you said your favorites are SH2 and RE4. Lmao love them original and remake. Ready to get silent hill remake
If I had to rank all the games mentioned in terms of the scariest, and this is completely subjective:
1. Silent Hill 2
2. Dead Space
3. RE2
4.RE7
5. RE Village
6. RE3
7.RE4
The idea of walking through the town of Silent Hill and hearing that god awful siren again send shivers down my spine in a good way.
Don’t get me wrong, RE has it’s moments too, but it’s a lot more ‘fun’ and action heavy, and scary, but when I enter SH, it just feels cut off from the rest of the world, like I’m in the actual town
silent hill 2 remake, resident evil 4 remake and evil within 1 are ❤️❤️❤️❤️
👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 congratulationes to everyone who worked to make this game 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
It’s so good
first monster spiting mucus! it felt so good smacking monsters!
Owww I will try to wait until 07 November to start it on my Pro. But it will be hard.
I love silent hill 2 and love original had both on day release and both will be in my heart till I die now only thing I’ll say is play it on pc the console editions don’t look good once you played on pc
23 years from the original it's more than a decade kid.
He said a decade since any new silent hill, not part 2 specifically
You mean after 2 decades, because the original SH2 was released in 2001
Learn to listen. He said a decade since any NEW silent Hill, not since Silent Hill 2
@@Ashurman666 OK, I see
@Ashurman666 OK, Mr. Teacher👏
And sorry I see a lot of lag in your gameplay when you turn it’s like the background is skipping don’t get that on pc 😂
Looking amazing so far
Standards for this franchise sure are slipping.....
Lmao there's always one of you eh
@@Fireside_Gaming What, someone with standards? Yeah, maybe there ought to be more. Maybe then we'd have an industry that isn't in the toilet.
@JoesGuy lmao yet this is the kind of quality games we need . Tell me what you deem to be great quality ?
@@Fireside_Gamingyoure garbage. Just like the game.
@@Fireside_Gaming Soulless remakes are quality? Good god.....
Im enjoying it so far.
Id say more open buildings and world plus real engine 5
Brilliant game we need more
Looks like very much fighting.
I need that shirt
Tee is badaaaasssss
I can't wait 😂Pc version
This game is older than you. But kudos that you love it!
