- Back To The Future Reaction is today's video! Hey everyone! Join me as I start the Back To The Future Trilogy today with the Original!
In this 1980s sci-fi classic, small-town California teen Marty McFly (Michael J. Fox) is thrown back into the '50s when an experiment by his eccentric scientist friend Doc Brown (Christopher Lloyd) goes awry. Traveling through time in a modified DeLorean car, Marty encounters young versions of his parents (Crispin Glover, Lea Thompson), and must make sure that they fall in love or he'll cease to exist. Even more dauntingly, Marty has to return to his own time and save the life of Doc Brown.

Fun fact: Ronald Reagan himself loved the "Ronald Reagan, the actor?!" line so much he asked the White House projectionist to replay it for him
He also referenced it in a speech.
"Where were going, we don't need roads."
Not surprising 😅
That's hilarious 😂
The scene of Marty trying to order a sugar free soda and unintentionally encouraging someone to become Mayor is one of my favorite scenes
That's one joke that's lost in today's audience as Tab was Coca Cola's first diet drink. And of course a tab is also something you can have at a bar to pay for your drinks later. To continue the joke, he asks for a "Pepsi Free" which was another brand of diet soda in 1985. But asking someone in 1955 for a Tab or a Pepsi Free would certainly be confusing.
@@CraigKostelecky Actually that was a mistake. Pepsi Free was caffeine free, although there was a sugar-free version. But Marty asking for a Diet Pepsi wouldn't have made sense for the joke.
@@mxplixic Ah, thank for the clarification.
Christopher Lloyd's performance as Doc encapsulates my childhood. Literally, you look at him outside the role, and you see he embodies the "mad scientist" look. And don't even get me started on his comedic chemistry with Michael J. Fox.
I met Christopher loyed at a con a few weeks ago. He such a kind man. He also said his role in who framed Roger rabbit was revenge for him being scared from the kids films be grew up on.
Also fun fact that ending was not sequel bait at all. In bonus content the director said if I new we would be making a sequel we would not of had it end the way it did.
Well if you remember the old man that kind of talks Marty into buying the sports almanac in part 2 - he was the voice of Roger rabbit
Doc took a chance on the letter because he knew the timeline had already been changed thanks to George standing up to Biff.
The curiosity was too much. It got the better of him.
Love it when Marty is playing Johnny B Goode the guy is talking to his cousin Chuck Barry who originally wrote and preformed the song so Marty unintentionally made that song possible
Back to the Future is such a fun move with so many hidden details you don't catch the first time watching.
Like for example the Mall Marty meets Doc at is originally called "Twin Pines Mall" after the two pines Farmer Peabody grew, but after Marty goes back in time it's suddenly the "Lone Pine Mall" because Marty ran one over accidentally. 😂
And that's why Biff said to make like a tree - he was talking about the tree Marty hit.
@@haileymullican335 Biff was trying to say a common phrase.... "Why don't you make like a tree, and leaf (leave)" but says it wrong (it is addressed later in the series - ua-cam.com/video/Nw1MaXpFQQ8/v-deo.html
I have watched this movie dozens of times and I never caught that! Thanks!
So the funny bit about Marty's Band audition was that the head judge was Huey Lewis from Huey Lewis and the News. The song Marty was playing was the Power of Love, one of Huey Lewis' tracks on the movie soundtrack.
The part where he tells them they are just too dang loud is a common complaint of the elderly with regards to modern music. The equivalent of "Get off my lawn!!". Lol 😂
By far one of the best movie franchises ever. Some of Micheal J. Fox and Christopher Lloyd's best work.
Teen Wolf was one of the WORST! No offense.
Thank you so much for the Super Chat!
@@ItsTotallyCodyWill you stop hearting my comment?
@@ItsTotallyCodyI SAID STOP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Fun fact: in the "Darth vader" scene, the original plan was to have actual Van Halen music playing, but Eddie was the only one who signed off on it, so they improvised.
What you're hearing is just Eddie by himself playing a few solo riffs.
Eddie loved doing little things for people. He did beat it for Michael Jackson after he rewrote the solo and performed it - for a case of beer!
Rest in peace
And it looks on the cassette that Eddie was added before the Van Halen to make the label legal as well.
I wish I forgot that trilogy entirely and started to watch it again. Everything is great about these movies. The cast, the story, the music. I miss the 80's and the 90's cinema.
Back to the Future is a masterpiece, it's so cleverly made and you can re-watch so many times and you still find new things.
Fun fact when marty drank the alchol it was real cuz the crew wanted to play a little prank so they swap the water for the real drink so the real reaction of his face
I met Christopher Lloyd two years ago at a comic con here in Germany. He's so cool . Also we took a picture in front of a DeLorean
Fun fact: The writers of the movie decided to choose 88mph because it was a number they randomly chose.
They said they liked how it looked on the digital clock.
The analog speedometer on the DeLorean had to be changed because it would not go high enough for 88.
You sir have just made history by witnessing it! BTTF is one of the greatest movie franchises of all time! Hell to this day Marty Mcfly and Doc Brown are Michael J. Fox and Christopher Lloyd's most iconic movie roles!!!
The trilogy is something of a rite of passage in our family. My dad jokingly refused to let my hubby marry me until he'd seen all 3 films. XD
Way to go dad! I did the same with my daughter’s fiancé.
'when this baby hits 88mph, you're gonna see some serious sh*t'
Best sci-fi exposition ever. 😂
Am I the only one who's still at the edge of his seat at that clock tower scene even though I've watched it countless times and I already know what happens next 😅
This move is one of my favourites not only because it is a great movie but also because my brother introduced it to me when I was 12. It quickly became our go to movie and would watch it together often. Sadly my brother passed away a few years ago, but it still makes me smile and I still shout out some of the iconic lines like we used to together just in case he is watching it with me. Role on the next two in the series, I can't wait to see your rections to those. 😊
This is a type of movie that I will never get tired of. Everytime I rewatch it, it's not only pure fun, but I keep catching on new details and hidden jokes. This screenplay has so many hidden connections you can spend days searching for them and you'll never get bored.
“He was McFlyin’.”
That was a good one. I’m gonna have to use that at some point.
Side note: I’m so glad you’re reacting to this! It’s one of my all time favorite movies!
They didn't tell Michael there's real alcohol in the bottle, so that's a genuine spit take.
Actually, the take used in the movie was a later take, the original where he didn't know yet is an outtake on the DVD/Blu-ray release.
then the mom said " it's not like I never parked before" marty's and cody's reactions are the same... :D
The entire trilogy is tied with each other in my top ten. Just like the original Star Wars trilogy, I feel like all 3 Back to the Futures are almost equal to each other. It’s a perfect trilogy.
Fun little detail: When Marty returns to his time, the Twin Pine Mall is renamed the Lone Pine Mall
The teacher who said Marty’s band was too loud was the singer of the song Marty’s band sang so he was calling his own song too loud.
The actor for Biff is actually a really nice guy and so during the scene in the car with Lorraine he kept stopping filming to make sure she was still ok with the scene
Was also the poster in Marty's room.
Tom Wilson was biff - he's in a couple videos with Adam the woo. They're the best together. Laughed so hard i hurt.
Tom Wilson played Maniac in the Wing Commander III and IV games, acting together with Mark Hamill, John Rhis Davies and Malcolm McDowell, back in the golden era of the super production full motion video games.
That was Huey Lewis of Huey Lewis and the News, he said he based it on experience.
A fun easter egg I'm not sure if you noticed or not is that when Marty goes back the first time, it's at Twin Pines Mall, but after Marty killed one of the pine trees at Peabody's it changes to Lone Pine Mall
I love Back to the future! Where we’re going we don’t need roads
Definately one of the greatest movie trilogies of all time. I have 7 of the actors signatures on my Back to the Future poster. Hoping to make it 9 in a couple of months time!
This is just a random thing, but I remember Christopher Lloyd voicing “Hacker” from the PBS kids show “Cyberchase.”. The only show that made math look fun.
They originally wanted to use a fridge as the transporter but then thought that kids might try to hide in their fridges to reenact the movie
They didn’t have a problem with it in Hot Tub Time Machine, or whatever movie it was.
The fridge being blown up was finally used in an Indiana Jones movie.
@@whomigazone Ok
Reminds me of the scene in Lilo and Stitch when Lilo hides from Nani in a washer/dryer machine but later was edited to look like she hid under a table inside a pizza box.
"He was mcFlyin'"
Dammit, Cody XD 🤣🤣🤣
The ending were the car flys was actually intended as a joke as at the time they didn't think they were going to do a sequel but the movie became so popular they had to do it the writer said if they knew they were going to do a sequel they wouldn't have put Jennifer in the car but it worked out well in the end I love all 3 of these movies one of the greatest trilogies of all time in my eye look forward to your reactions to them 👍
Its very rare you find someone who knows genuinely nothing about this film. Can’t wait to see your reaction to the next 2.
The Back to the Future films are some of my all time favorite movies. And what's really cool, is one of the people I know from high school (who was in a couple of musicals with me) is actually starring as Marty McFly in the BTTF musical.
The actress, playing Marty's mother, also starred in a Marvel movie around the same time. The character from it has been shown in the Gardians movies and was present at Endgame. Howard the Duck is a little outdated, but it's still a very fun watch.
In the 90's Lea Thompson was also the star of her own sitcom, Caroline In The City. She also did several commercials for Chevrolet too, I remember them too well. LOL
The saying Biff messes up is supposed to be, "Make like a tree, and LEAVE".
Fun fact: that part of the scene was cut, but Doc's "permit" for the special equipment which he hands the cop on the night of the dance... was a $50 bribe.
Other Fun or maybe Not-so-fun fact: At the time of production, Michael J Fox was booked doing the tv show, 'Family Ties'. He was their first choice, but because he was unavailable they tried going with another actor. When that didn't work out, Michael J Fox ended up filming both the tv show (in the daytime) and the movie (nights), _at the same time._ He was running on 2-5 hours of sleep per day for the duration of filming, just to be in this. (I don't know if Marty's odd sleeping position might have been so that Michael J wouldn't _actually_ fall asleep...?)
Umm... I don't especially like *any* version of Biff, but I'll take the new version over the original.
Director Zemeckis has said, if he HAD been thinking about a sequel, he would not have had Jennifer go along in the car with them at the end: it complicated things in the second film figuring out what to do with her character!
The first film was so popular that it spawn 2 more sequels, an Animated Cartoon show, a ride at Universal Florida (which I still wish I had a chance to go on that ride if it was still going on), a Video Game, Doc Brown & Marty appearing in LEGO Dimentions, Doc Brown's cameo in a Western Film and a Comic Book series.
There’s also a video game
Edit: nvm you already wrote that, I missed that
@@artsysabs That's okay.
They also made a universal ride in California. It was good. Miss that ride.
there is also a musical!
@@InfinityNL2000 Almost forgot about that
What's fun is that 30 years from 1985 is 2015, so for the next one, you get to see what they thought that was going to look like.
Cody’s reaction to the scenes with Marty and his mom interacting is gold
I like the scene where Marty hooked up headphones on Young George McFly in his sleep was hilarious and played Van Halen soundtrack, and we can see George McFly quietly screaming while he woke up from that loud sound. That was my most favorite scene when I first watched it. I would also include the times when Doc Brown got frightened, shocked, and excited in some scenes, that was pretty funny.
These movies might legit be my overall favorites..they're just so freakin good, so much fun..it's like there's always something happening.
YES i was waiting for this reaction. The third one is still my favorite💕
There's few movies that really deserve the "perfect" label and this is absolutely one of them! Makes me want to watch them again honestly!
Now this is an awesome movie, this was basically part of my parent’s childhood!
I’m so happy your watching this and that you enjoyed it!!! The Back to the Future Trilogy is my favorite trilogy of all time.
Same. Right next to Spider-Verse!
Fun fact Cody: Christopher Lloyd played Judge Doom in Roger Rabbit & Voice Rasputin in Anastasia
Back to the future 1, Ghostbusters 1, Jurassic Park, Indiana Jones and the original Star Wars are all part of that perfect movie era and are movies you can watch over and over again and love just as much as when you first saw them - they are just pure fun and adventure not trying to be anything more than just fun which seems like a lost thing in movies these days
The first BTTF movie has been used as an example for the perfect screenplay in many writing classes. No line or scene wasted. It’s absolutely perfect! ^^
No way this is your first time reacting! Your reactions are gonna be awesome :)
It says something about how good of a dog owner Doc is: Einstein gets in the car and is perfectly calm, despite the fact that he's been left alone to be flung through time, because he knows Doc will get him back safely.
And while it's never explained in the series: Bob Zemeckis confirmed that Marty met his friend Dr. Emmett "Doc" Brown when he was around 14 after hearing that Brown was a dangerous lunatic. Marty wanted to go and see what it was all about for himself. He snuck into Doc's lab and was fascinated by all his inventions. When Doc caught him, he was glad to have someone interested in his work, and their friendship began.
GREAT SCOTT, MARTY!
Cody's Reacting to our Movie!
Ahhh the 80s, when we could actually get excited for big blockbuster movies...
You can do that now but okay lol
@@ItsTotallyCody You know, you might be right. I was just being cynical lol.
At least when you could get excited about going to Blockbuster video.🤗
Doc Brown must've watched ALOT of Mr. Peabody and Sherman Cartoons in his spare times or something
The actor who plays Biff, he voices various characters in Spongebob so, you’re gonna hear his voice pretty soon in Spongebob so, stay tuned….
28:50 When Biff says to make like a tree and get out of here is part of the gag showing how slow Biff actually is. The saying is supposed to be, Make like a tree and leave.
I've always loved the Back to the Future trilogy and glad to see you're finally checking them out!! Besides the fun adventure of this movie, I also LOVE the musical score, it's just so iconic and beautiful! Can't wait to see the next films!
This movie was so popular, there is now a musical adaptation that's now on Broadway and West End. It even won an Oliver Award for best new musical.
The correct term at 28:42 is “Make like a tree and leave” it’s supposed to be a pun but Biff’s an idiot 😂
The Movie is also pretty good at avoiding time travel paradoxes, and so is the third. The second not so much but it's just fun. The question i have though is why marty's parents don't recognise marty in the future and why Marty's life stays the same despite everyone else's changing.
Remember that marty was only there for a week 30 years ago. The memory of his face would have been lost with time. And marty is from the original timeline so he himself wouldnt change. We didn't get a chance to see if people wondered why he acting a little strange.
Can’t wait for the whole trilogy reaction
Not a spoiler, but an opinion. Not a single effect in this trilogy has aged badly. It is definitely my favorite series of movies, and has fully earned its place to this day in pop culture, I look forward to seeing your reactions :)
The 2015 is a bit inaccurate, we must be in the Biff timeline.
Great scott!
Christopher Lloyd played a hilarious character in the old sitcom Taxi.
That's a throw back. Danny Devito is great in that too.
My all time favourite movie! I am glad you finally watched it!
I didn't know this was your first time checking out the Back To The Future franchise, but great to see you hopping to it with a reaction video
The teacher that said “You’re just too loud” is Huey Lewis. He and hus band did the song ‘The Power of Love’.
I rewatched all 3 Back to the Future movies last week
Michael J. Fox is so fantastic in this trilogy.
Super excited to see this review pop up. Love this series.
Every single reaction is just too Iconic😂😂❤❤
That's Huey Lewis himself telling Marty his group is "....just too darn loud." Also, it's "Make like a tree and leave."
"My name is Darth Vader, I'm an extra-terrestrial from the Planet Vulcan"
Let's be honest, Marty crossing universes is more dangerous than anything else he's done so far
I knew waiting for this reaction would be worth the wait! I first watched it when I was 15 or maybe 16. This is such a classic, I honestly can't wait for your reaction to the next one. Thanks for making my night, Cody! I honestly can't wait to see which movie you put up next!
Chris Lloyd on Taxi as Reverend Jim was hilarious!
Back To The Future is one of my favorite movies and trilogy’s of all time! I really enjoyed this reaction and watching you see this classic
Finally, my favorite movie series.
Are you telling me you built a TIME MACHINE out of a DELOREAN ?!
A 1985 classic! It’s THE movie that not only made Marty McFly a household name, but even the DeLorean time vehicle sure got high praise from the man who invented the car. John DeLorean was grateful that because his vehicles didn’t sell well years prior to 1985, it was this movie that really gave it exposure to its audiences.
Big thing goes unnoticed in this movie:
George was bullied because he was left handed. Something that was still considered an abomination in the 1950s.
He punched Biff with his left hand.
Disagree. I went through elementary, junior high, and part of high school in the 50's and there were plenty of left-handers in the classes and no one bullied them or treated them any differently than anyone else. As a matter of fact, many of the best athletes in school were lefties.
Plus george was writing with his right hand. He hit biff with the left because biff had his right arm pulled back
@@rs-ye7kw I know many many pepole who where forced to use their right hand in school and where physically punished(beat) if they dared to write lefthanded in school back in those times. Obviously this didn't happen everywhere as is evidenced by your school, but just because it didn't happen where you where does not in anyway mean it wasn't happening to others in other places.
I mean that may just be a detail but there’s no way that’s why
@@tj_2701 I know that those kinds of things did happen but I believe it was more prevalent in the decades before the fifties, especially in the public schools. I have heard horror stories from people who attended Parochial schools in the 50's and even into the 60's that the punishments you described were often administered by their instructors, who were often Nuns. I'm sure those stories are true, but i still doubt that those things occurred frequently in many places during and after the 50's in most public schools. (one caveat: no personal experience, but I wouldn't doubt that things may have still been that was in the 50's in the deep South).
What a coincidence! I just finished the trilogy- and was wondering if you’ve checked them out- glad you are now!
This is an amazing franchise as soon as you finish, the second one it will say to be continued, turn off as soon as that pops up because there are spoilers for the third one
Thanks for mentioning this now!
@@artsysabs no problem
Love your channel keep up the good work
This is the moment I’ve been waiting for!!!!
I've really gotten into this series lately, even pulled out the Back to the Future Telltale Game I bought from my Public Library and played it for the first time (guess I forgot to try it out)
One of the all-time great film trilogies. It's because of these movies that the DeLorean DMC-12 (the very car used as the time machine in all three movies) became iconic. So much so, the man behind that car, famed automotive (and former GM) engineer John Z. DeLorean thanked the producers for making his creation a legend. LOL
After all these Years and countless times watching the movie, There is *1* inaccuracy of the movie that music people(particularly Guitarists) might not have guessed. Personally, I am not a guitarist but I found out that the Guitar that Marty was playing at the enchantment under the sea dance (in 1955) was a Gibson ES-345.
The Gibson ES-345 was actually first produced 3 years later in 1958.
23:33 i seriously cant believe how long it took me to realize that's the first clue he was already disappearing in the photo.
this triology is my favourite of all time and it will always be. glad you are giving it a chance.
This movie was never ment to have any sequels. The guy that created it even said if he knew there was going to be a sequel he would've changed the ending.
Parts 2&3 where filmed at the same time though,
My Favorite classic movie 🍿 😄🎬
I love this trilogy.
I always say that Back to the Future is my favorite movie of all time, but I'm always referring to the whole trilogy. In my opinion, you can't have one without the other two. It's a perfect complete set.
Some reactors may know this, but the Battle of the Bands dude with the blow horn, that's actually Huey Lewis...from Huey Lewis & The News. The band that wrote The Power of Love for this film.
The expression is actually "Make like a tree and leave."
There was another movie with Micheal J. Fox called The Frighteners which is a horror comedy featuring ghosts and the grim reaper. It's worth a watch.
Really good movie. I would love to see his reaction to that one.
There was a Back to the Future animated TV series.
I used to watch that all the time as a kid
@@sophiecooper1824 I believe it was Bill Nye:The Science Guy’s TV debut
Funny detail the man who says you're just too darn loud is Huey Lewis the actual singer of the power of love and twin pines mall became pine mall after Marty destroyed most of the pine trees. and last Peabody was named after Mr. Peabody from Mr. Peabody and Sherman a cartoon from the 1960's a show that brought the time travel trope to a modern audience without it we may have never got Back To The Future.
5:30 Marty got clockblocked.
