I like, can't wait to test drive this bakkie, we need this bakkie in a PHEV here in South Africa, we get planned blackouts for up to 6-10 hours per day. The outlander PHEV, I can run my home and shop work shop with that phev which makes lot of sense to me.

Same for Toyota who will have a diesel hybrid for Aust , with petrol hybrid variants not currently on the Radar for Australia , at least just yet. The Hilux. LC 300, Prado are all in line for a hybrid diesel variant in this market. I'd hedge the triton hybrid will be more likely diesel as that will almost likely be the main preference for here, but then again , Mitsubishi may dare to be different
what’s the payload and GVM Tom? The upgraded towing capacity is a bit of bullshit just like with ranger, toyota etc. not realistic because A. much heavier than the tow vehicle and B. payload is likely to be minimal to achieve the towing capacity so likely 2.8 T would be maximum to tow with a few passengers and the usual accessories. So, if they’ve increased GVM and payload significantly (new stronger chassis) that would be welcome news. Otherwise, major improvements of note are an extra glovebox, cup holders on air vents, better seats and a half decent sound system (we can only hope). BTW, i haven’t seen the paddle shift on any pics yet… Have they done away with them? was best thing about the auto in MR Tritons.
Mitsubishi execs were keen to stress to me that the vehicle will be able to drive under electric power - so that basically rules out ‘just a mild hybrid’
If they make a plugin hybrid, I'll buy one (packaging issues need to be overcome). I won't buy a mild hybrid, ICE or full EV dual cab ute (until battery & charging tech & networks improve). I'd rather have a PHEV that can do 40km on battery than no PHEV at all.
A lack of a hybrid/PHEV is a big oversight. Mitsubishi is just another company that will be left behind in the transition to new energy vehicles. The EV utes from BYD et al will be here soon and leave the traditional companies behind.
Drum brakes are fitted in Thailand for tax purposes. Manufacturers have to pay government.Why I don't know other than screw Xtra money 🤑🤑🤑🤑 . Can be converted in Australia and Europe etc

I think it look good, possibly right sized for the aussie school run. Here in Perth way too many of these XLL double cabs on surburban roads.
