- Hard to believe this was 10 years ago! The bikes have changed, some riders have come and gone, but downhill racing is still the best ever!
#MTB #downhill #longlivechainsaw
I love this era, it’s the period of time when bikes really started becoming my passion! 26” wheel footage looks so loose and fast and I’m a big fan of the baggy kits!
I like the baggy shorts. They look awesome compared to the skinny pants everyone wears today
I always forget that 2010 was a whole decade ago. When someone mentions 2010 or years close to that I always think it was just a few years ago and end up surprised when it sinks it that it was so long. Damn, time flies.
Same
same
That divided BOXXER sign was the best design anyway ...
Dude, i still love the 2008 Boxxer Worldcup with the thin tubes
Back when only a Session looked like a Session.
Am a huge fun of 26 wheels and older bikes, but those kits hurt my eyes haha
Me I have a giant faith 2010 26 wheels
I still ride my 26" wheelset these day's, it's because I already comfortable with those 26-ish, honestly if 26" aren't dead I'll stick with those things
This makes me notice how everyone today wears long pants
Shorts seem to be making a comeback, go loic Bruni!
2:14 that's smooth af
yeah that's a 16 yr old troy brosnan
I have a 2010 commencal supreme v2, so it's pretty cool seeing it on the world cup track ridden by the Atherton's
Still riding a 2012 26" commencal meta 55 and I love it 👍😁👌
@Russ Garth Yea, I have a 29 inch hardtail but the 26 inch wheels are still my favourite
i love my 26" commencal meta! 😜
Me too 😁👌
have that frame too, love its design :D
The sound of that mud!!! So thicc and splashy...looks like a nightmare to ride lol
Anyone else remember when Minnar raced the Honda bike?
yep
Good times watching this in high school!
I ride an '08 Demo 8 and love it
respect! good bike!
I ride an '09 V10, and I love her to bits.
@@Mr037rally how much of it is still "2009?" I've pretty much rebuilt my Demo at this point with only the frame, seat tube and seat being original.
@@nickthaskater Nearly all of it lol, The stem was changed for a triple clamp direct mounted stem, I've changed the seat post for a dropper as I do ride her as my everyday bike, the cassette has been changed for a bigger range, I've just serviced the Fox 40's and the DHX coil, I have a Pro-pack on order to change all the frame bearings. OK, she is a bit of a pig to ride up and down these Welsh valleys but I did want to get fit. I'm going to have the frame repainted and all new decals put on when I strip her to fit the Pro-pack. And I'm entering her in a DH race probably Cwm Carn next year. But I just love her to bits she is a bloody tank.
Loving my M9!
This was the best video I've watched all year for biking! Takes me back to why I love DH.
Not over done with lame music or boring voice over . Just the sounds of the event . Need more videos like this .
Make DH great again.
freekstylejim1 oh it is and it’s getting better
This channel ALWAYS has the best footage and format.
What a great year for TLD kits
Wow the Evolution of DH from then til now and it doesn't seem that long ago but it was.. 🤯
Brendog!
The trek session didn't change in 10 years
loved it ! still ride my 98gt hardtail 26^ for life !!!
Yeti 303 DH 😍
Last line you can see peaty and gee monster trucking vs gwin finesse line choice, muscle vs flow (I mean even with the pedal strike)
Peaty making that V10 look like a bmx 🤣
Funny because I only knew about mountain biking in 2016, and downhill really 2017. Feels like ive been doing it for a long long time and its been my whole life but ive only been in it for a very small period. I thought my local trails were new but I only just found out that they are 20 years old, and maybe even existed before then. It unreal that my whole child/teenage hood I never knew DH existed, all that I know is that my whole childhood I dreamed of one day getting a bike with a front fork because the rich kids had them.
Those BMX bikes look mighty quick
new bikes may be faster but there is something special about the era of the 26 bangers! things look proper back then
That blue M6/M9😍😍
Wow times has changed the bikes are so much longer these days. To be honest I prefer the older ones as they are shorter and easier to corner
Have you got any footage of the late 80s / Early 90s for some comparison 👍
this isn't our video, but it's EPIC - 1996 mont-sainte-anne ua-cam.com/video/EgYj0JQEI3A/v-deo.html&feature=emb_title
My first time at fort William! Such good times, sun burn and midge bites
sometimes i really want them to put the names of the riders.. each new season i struggle with finding the names on the back in a video or finding out by bike
26 inch bikes are honestly quite fun... Its a shame that they're getting rarer
Damn this was a bit a go! For me at least being 5 in 2010?crazy looking track💨☔️
I remember this as yesterday, wtf it's 10 years ago.
What? 26 aint dead bruh.
Dody Harmoko it is though?
@@Bumfluff-k2d it ain't though
@@demonhays8460 completely are, any bike park u go to u see the occasional 26 but there normally like 4-5 years old! U clearly don't ride or mistake 27.5 for 26 lol
Still sending the 26" 😁👍
@@Bumfluff-k2d DJ, Slopestyle, 4X and Trials bikes still, and probably always will use 26" wheels.
Pure gold!!! More pleasee
All of these guys are quicker on the 26's than everyone in the comments riding 29's saying that 26's dead.
It´s interesting to see how the geometry of these bikes became somehow commom at this era.
The new era bikes are just getting bigger and bigger with bigger wheels but geometry isnt very far of that time aside changes to receive bigger wheels.
Glorious times.
SWEET times
The noisiest bike for sure V10 :) the quietest Demo
Pero que bellisimo !! Quien diria como han cambiado las bicis, r26 overpower
Dangerous days for tall riders... Ben Reids gap on Windham... insane.
Oh man good times... felling old now :(
A lot of these race bikes from 2010 became park rat bikes nowadays. I loved my 2010 Demo
Taller riders like Greg Minaar and Steve Peat really made the bike look small. Or is it a Santa Cruz thing?
9:49 first time ever I see an old school scott dh rig racing
Just Take the top 20 and try to Interview some of them.
Even the media ppl.
Might be against the grain here but I think the current trend of DH pants/long sleeves with a tighter cut looks better. Obviously the new bikes do as well (I rode a 2011 Glory so I know dem feels)
I miss freecaster tv...
Real Riders Warner and Pagey free to get pished in the commentators booth. Those truly were the best of times.
Why? It was really unreliable, not a patch on Redbull's coverage these days.
Stuey Sasquatch tbh considering the money RB has at its disposal I don’t think the quality or reliability they provide is nearly enough. Plus I can’t be doing with the bias towards RB athletes. I’d happily watch that organisation rot away.
@@NR-pj4gp Freecoaster was glitchy, amateur camera operators and they didn't have the budget to cover enough of the tracks to be great coverage.
Redbull are streets ahead, progression is great for everyone.
Stuey Sasquatch but do they truly care for the sport or is it purely just for profit? They seen a quickly growing sport and pounced not for the betterment of the sport but for themselves. They push smooth bike park style tracks onto the venues so they can get those hundredths of a second time differences because they think that’s what makes downhill exciting. They’ll be the downfall of downhill.
Great video!👍👍😀
This is so strange.. i started Downhill in 2008 i think and only knew 26 inch. in 2010 - 2011 everybody starts to talk about 29 inch but i know that i would have never expected that this will be the standard in downhill.. i made a break with downhill from 2011 till last month and it is so strange now to see that there are just 27,5 and 29 inch bikes
NO GLOVES!!!
the bikes looks so small!
they look like little child bikes
Were the bikes noisy or the tracks just that rough...?
The bikes were that noisy
No derailleur clutch, no tire inserts, less custom sound dampening, ...
They were real dh tracks no flat or up hill sections like todays tracks
Is it just me or did they look smoother back then?
what means the whistle ?
Yeti DH.... Bring back legend bike please
Video of the year
Bikes were so small...
I wonder how many of these bikes still had tubes in them
All 😂
Remember it like it was yesterday
I didn't knew that Fox already used Kashima back in 2010
Who's sporting the number 1 plate @ 0:25
sam hill
Ok cool but can we just think about the fact that some of the current top DH riders were 10 years or less back then Kade Edwards for example...
What the hell is up with the whistles
Peaty a legendary rider yeap boy
Narrow bars and 26 wheels looks so odd now i feel old
CRAZY ONLY >..ONE WORD!!!
keep em comin
More old videos 2010-2015
we have 2011 on the way soon!
@@vitalmtb nice
@@vitalmtb can u also do something with the first fullsuspension bikes that would be cool
yeahhh boyy tri crazy
Still beautifull
Nice vídeo ❤️
Little did everyone know that next year everyone will get their ass kicked by Mr. Aaron Gwin!
You can see here why, everyone muscle things where gwin show some great line choices.
Goes out and paints my rims white :)
LOL! This isn't old school though. I remember my first "real" MTB. and I paid a ridiculous amount for it. I think around $400 USD back in the 1980s.
🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
I can imagine how nobody could came on the Idea to make the Bikes bigger?
Ahh yes, the 26ers
What I notice here is not the dated gear, quite the opposite. So little has changed imho. Virtually the same tracks, and tbh after a few minutes it’s hard to tell this is 2010. Perhaps it says something about the stagnant venue choices in recent years - ie the last 10. I know that’s a Debbie downer opinion... just left, me a little cold and not fired up about the nostalgia. I’m usually a big fan of the retro cuts. Sorry vital, I still love you.
People who claim that 26" and old geometry is better than 27.5 or 29 are pretty daft. You can easily tell how out of control these guys are the whole way down the track. Compare that to racers now on modern bikes and they float down the hill like a magic carpet
maybe they look out of control because they are pinned, but they look pretty smooth to me
On the easier, ironed out sections, yes.
Dunno i have Supreme dh v2 and only difference i think of is that modern bikes only are abit longer than "old" geometry.
2:08 dank
Ah when you didn't have to pedal up hill on a dh bike good times.
forgot about those neck braces
do people not were them anymore?
Those are not noisy bike, mine is noisy af.
Lots of flat pedals in those days #flatpedalswinmedals
Hill, Brandon, Mattie, Fearon.. thats all i can think of
Proof it’s the rider not the bike.
have the same rider with modern tech, current DH times are much faster haha
@@seanhornchek6440 its funny right? there was one scene, a guy on a session smashing it through the woods, he was fast but it looked unstable.. compared to todays bikes, where the handlebars just float over the rough stuff ;D
Юра, мы всё просрали))
Val di Sole was loud af
Freecaster.tv this is all
lo bueno que los madrasos en lodo no duelen
more old videos !!
Yeti ❤️
Yetis a brand...
I personally feel like the 29inch bikes that we ride today are too large . These bikes are far more reasonably sized compared to the average person
xoxorp 27.5 for life
Not so noisy ..#v10, sessions 9.9 this last 3years
Trek and specialized look no different to. How they look now 😂 it just goes in circles
Back when you had to be a man to mountain bike
🇵🇪🇵🇪🇵🇪😎
