Another great video Jon, it's nice to see you getting the most out of the peg and congrats on second place I didn't expect a 70lb weight to win, tight lines Jon 👍👍
Brilliant vlog Jon, learnt a lot watching you, your very patient and search the swim methodically, great match breakdown throughout, well done, tight lines
Well now, where do I start? ( I'll be gentle) 1. I really love to see you interacting with Katie. She's such a little angel. 2. Thanks a lot for marking your top kit with those measurements. Now my wife knows what 8 inches looks like. 3. My grandad had some awesome tips for me when I was small. "Only ever fish under a bridge in the rain". "Why?" "Coz they hate gettin' wet". And "When it's cold, it's better to pit toast on instead of bread" " Why's that Grandad? Coz toast ia always warmer.....". And being about 5 or 6 years old, I believed every word. 3. That was good angling Jon. I went the other day and only netted about 8 roach. But one was a new PB at 1lb 8oz, 2 others over a pound, and the rest were over half a pound. Exclusively taken one maggot at a place called Watmore farm, in north east Hampshire. Easily my best ever roach session. But I didn't have it all my own way, my youngest son out fished me yet again. Tight lines.
I also love Makins been fishing there every year for years travelling down from Sheffield although saying that missed last year's for obvious reasons hopefully getting down this year if I can, not been since Allan left.
Great match mate well done. I will start using bread to catch carp as I have always used pop ups or boilies or maggots. I haven’t caught a carp since November.
Andy Rycroft not sure how to do links but if you google Clive Branson and scroll his vlogs you should find it , Billy has a bar or two out there in Thailand
@@JonArthur keep doing them though. I love dropping in Harry Enfield, Peter Kay, Arrested Development and Alan Partridge at times that don't stick out to the uninitiated.
Corn skins have very little weight so they waft and flutter around and are perfect for 'dobbing' off the bottom. You can sometimes catch better on a squeezed grain when deck fishing too.
another top vid jon great to see the dobbing paying off i have joined a winter league this year and just started dobbing would you always start dobbing away from the far bank and move tighter later as ive been going tight straight away just following the other anglers as iam new to it advice would be appreciated look forward to your vidieos for rest of season top man
It depends on the peg and venue but more and more I try and start away from the hotspot for any extra fish before going for it. Glad you liked the vid!
Another great video. Really enjoy these match videos. Full of great tips.
Always look forward to these live match videos, best around in my opinion.

Thanks for the lovely comments! You forgot No5. You cannot count, though, ha ha! 😬
@@JonArthur No, counting was never a strong point, that's why I can't match fish, I'd always have more than 1 rod in the water...LOL
Nice Video enjoyed that thanks Jon
Thanks Steven
Great video Jon 👍

They've done loads of work recently
Nice Video John as always and a tidy match well done. :) Alan

Oh dear! I am a Level 2 coach if you ever wanted a day’s fishing 🙂
Jon Arthur Angling thanks I could possibly do with a day’s training / teaching. How do I find out more information?

I have been watching Clive Branson in Thailand and he had a chat with Billy Makin ( very funny ) nice vid as usual , thank you
Shabba Ranks can you give me a link? I live in Thailand, I'd like to know where he was. Thanks, Andy.
I watched it too. Very funny... in lots of ways!
Andy Rycroft not sure how to do links but if you google Clive Branson and scroll his vlogs you should find it , Billy has a bar or two out there in Thailand
Just don't expect anything anywhere near as polished as my videos! 😂
Nice 1 Jon
well done jon
Amazing how the short topkits make your elastic work hard due to the tips being very stiff ...got a few them on my sig pole ...
great result jon, what's your verdict on using the short top kit for carp...many thanks scott
I’m completely sold on them now. Two days later I had 104lb at Tunnel Barn with them, 50/50 carp and F1s.
well done jon gl next1 m8
Thanks Kevin
Wow how fast is your little girl growing doesn't seem that long since she was born!
She’s coming on so well! 🙂
@@JonArthur Nice job coming 2nd
I’ve got a Matrix side tray like yours but I’ve not got a hole chiselled out of mine 😂
Ha ha, that’s for my bait brolly, but I now prefer the Matrix bait tent/shelter and there’s two more holes for that!
Good Peter Kay quote.
Not everyone gets my references! 🙂

Great result Jon! Well done. Patience seemed the key eh.
Any particular reason for corn skins instead of normal corn? Is it just a winter tatic?
Corn skins have very little weight so they waft and flutter around and are perfect for 'dobbing' off the bottom. You can sometimes catch better on a squeezed grain when deck fishing too.
When you blank Jon, we call it a Norman, as in Dave (Norman) Warren.
I haven't a clue who that is, sorry! :-)
@@JonArthur DID NOT WEIGH. DNW. ( DAVE NORMAN WARREN) local Worcester angler, we use his initials when he blanked.
if you had stuck to the brambles from the off would you of caught more?
No I think they would have eventually drifted off. You can only know where the fish are all day in hindsight.

Nice one Jon boy, Makiins top fishery but has NEVER wanted any bait ? Must always be feeding em 😂😂
Stupid question but what are corn skins
The skin of sweetcorn, when you squeeze the insides out
Thought so, but never tried it.
