- Prague, the capital city of Czechia, is a beautiful place to visit during any time of the year, but its magic really comes out during festive Christmas time. Prague's Christmas markets are often ranked in TOP 10 in Europe. City's popularity can be particularly seen at sequence 0:39-0:49 with very large amount of people at Old Town Square. Fortunately there are some more relaxed markets with equally spectacular setting and smaller crowds, such as those at the historical Prague Castle courtyards.
Starting sequences are from the most famous and iconic - Old Town Square - Staroměstské náměstí dominated by fairy-tale like Roman Catholic Týn Church - Týnský Chrám, with Gothic spires, Renaissance decorations and baroque interior.
other locations in Prague's Christmas timelapse are :
Náměstí Míru - Peace Square dominated by neo-Gothic Cathedral of St Ludmila
Kampa Island
Pražský hrad - Prague Castle area dominated by Saint Vitus's Cathedral - Katedrála svatého Víta
Malostranske Namesti with baroque Church of Saint Nicholas - Kostel svatého Mikuláše
Náměstí Republiky - Republic Square
Náměstí Jiřího z Poděbrad, square with Church of the Most Sacred Heart of Our Lord - Kostel Nejsvětějšího Srdce Páně
and of course
Wenceslas Square - Václavské náměstí - Václavák - One of the main city squares named after Saint Wenceslas, the patron saint of Bohemia.
What would be #Christmas markets without food and drinks, might it be traditional hot wine and many sorts of fresh snacks such as roasted almonds. The process of almond roasting is rather interesting (sequence 1:21-1:28) and the fresh hot result is absolutely delicious.
Hardly anyone can imagine a visit to Prague Christmas market without tasting Trdelník, a sweet cylindrical pastry, made from rolled dough that is wrapped around a stick, then grilled and topped with sugar and walnut mix.
It had become a custom to be able to see and admire skillful art work of blacksmiths or glass-makers in real life.
Timelapse ends with New Year's fireworks (sequence 6:20-6:50) seen next to Prague Castle's Saint Vitus's Cathedral - Katedrála svatého Víta - Roman Catholic Cathedral.
