Pete is the most well adjusted out of everyone so they kinda bully him because when faced with healthy people, they’re put off
Tina is one of the most relatable characters to me - she was low-key terrified of the changes and fought them tooth and nail. But all she really needed to know was that she could thrive in this new system. Syd gave her a little spark of confidence.
Pete is a goofy nerd with little social skills, and the entire family gives him unending crap for it. I liken him to a Labrador retriever in a sweater vest.
However, he is absolutely a stand-up guy and proves it whenever he is needed by ANY family member.
Pete's ALWAYS got your back.
It's not even that his social skills are bad imo, I think he's genuinely nice and not traumatized and not a mess of a person. That makes him a very nice and happy guy, and the Berzattos are the opposite. He isn't happy and fulfilled in a "rub it in your face" kind of way, but they probably feel like that's the case because they're so messed up, and they give him crap because of that
Poor Pete, so well adjusted and the rest are so dysfunctional they automatically react with dislike because they see it as weakness.
Fun Fact: ketchup not being on a hotdog isn't just Richie being an ass, it's a big no no in Chicago to have Ketchup on a hotdog unless you're a child.
Obviously it's not that serious, but it's one of those unspoken rules like don't order a steak well done in Texas.

looking back at this episode, I never realized how quiet everything was in the background after they found the pills in the drinks LOL, I thought it was a stylistic choice to hear the main characters better but I guess everyone was just dead asleep 💀

I think Tina was just feeling insecure and it’s hard to get an old head to change. She ain’t so bad; just puts up a harsh front.
Remember y’all, her boss and friend offed himself and then within the span of a week a complete stranger(Sydney) came in and told her basically everything they do is wrong. She probably was projecting her anger on syd and was also worried for her job
Edit: yes after four months is when syd showed up but within that week Carmy gave her all the authority

@@YaBoyRockLee it’s not forgetting Mikey, but the fact these people were his friends for years. So saying any of them should be fired for not just getting with the program is what I was referring to. A lot of people don’t like several of the characters for how they treat syd at the start. It’s not till the end and next season we actually get break downs and flashbacks of just how involved he was with everyone and why they’ve kind of all had some crap going on.
@@vikkidonn Nah I understand Tina's perspective but she sabotaged Sydney's stock before. You can be stubborn all you want, you can talk shit, but sabotage gets you fired. The only reason that didn't happen was because nobody saw it happen and everybody pinned it on Sydney
@@pabloc8808 Carmy didn’t told Sydney to deal with it when she told him, that did the same thing to her. This isn’t a business where you can come in and just start firing people, as we soon see….. these were friends of Mikey’s that he treated like family. So for two strangers to walk in and “fire” anyone would have resulted in the beef being forced to shut down due to no staff. That’s like someone walking into your house and telling you the way you wash your clothes isn’t industry standard, they hate the color patterns, want you to change your wardrobe to suit their liking, and you have no idea who they even are to be given such authority in the first place or to then exercise it on you. There’s a reason Carmy didn’t fire anybody even when he could have. These aren’t just random people that work for him. Which is my point. Just because someone owns something doesn’t mean they own the people that built it. The minute the energy was matched and Tina saw that syd wasn’t someone trying to take over she chilled out. You can’t man handle people expecting results.
@@vikkidonn Carmy is treating the Beef like a business. I understand the nuances of a restaurant as a high stress environment that leads to bonding. But what I'm saying is, I understand Tina's treatment of Syd; Tina learned on the job, Syd had formal education. Tina worked there for years, Syd worked there for a week. Tina was the only woman in the kitchen and she was a hardass and everybody respected her for who she was; Syd was the second, and everybody was forced to "respect" her because Carmy said so. All of those things are true. What I'm saying is, despite all of those things, sabotaging another cook's work is an offense that gets you booted. Period. It costs the entire staff precious time, it costs the restaurant money, and you lose trust. That is a fact, not a question, ask anyone who's ever worked in a professional kitchen. There's a difference between understanding a character's motivation and condoning their actions.
Sydney teaches through encouragement instead on constant criticism.
