I just bought my first Jeep, a YJ, on the cheap. Floor pan replacement is one of many projects. I attend YT university often as I do most everything around home and shop myself BUT this is the FIRST TIME I have ever sat through an entire 1 hr video. Great job holding my attention and staying informative. Thanks!
@@jamespettway1771 nice buy with the YJ! You’re gonna do a great job bringing it back to life. Thanks for watching!
Nice job. I don’t envy you. I grew up on the East coast where the winters eat cars lol. I once did the pans in my 72 Beetle parked out at the curb. I still have nightmares over it 😂. FWIW those supports under the pans are called torque boxes. Congrats on completing the project.
Just a FYI. Most of these auto replacement sheet metal pieces are from worn out dies that have been disposed of by the manufacturer and bought by asian companies, and that is why there is always small alignment issues. Fenders are the worse because not many align with the bolt holes.
I watched several videos of this floor pan replacement and yours was the best by far. Lots of detail and explanation. Thank you !
Thank you! I’m glad it has been useful! My son says I over explain stuff. Ha
Love your videos! Very well explained and wonderful words of encouragement! You know how to get things done. This video helped me gain the confidence to do my floors> Wish me luck!
Great video ! Your seam seal job on the passenger side looked a lot better than the driver's side. I'm guessing you were ready to be done with it by the time you did the driver's side. LOL
@@johnzillner1596 Thanks!! And yes after so many hours into it I was ready to be done.
Nicely done
great video
Wonderful video. Took your time and done a great job. Ignore the man comments about doing the job faster. I’d love to see their shoddy workmanship 😂
Thank you! I agree I’m not racing to get anything done. I’d rather include content in case someone cares to see it. If not just move on to the next video.
Another welding tip....test weld some scrap pieces before welding your projects. That way you can get your heat and wire speed dialed in better.
Thank you. I’m still figuring out the settings. I appreciate the insight!
Need to do more than this. Never welded. Where do I start?
Can the old panel be cut out a bit smaller and then lap joint weld the new panel over that or is that a big no no? It seems like it would be easier to weld that way and fitment would be easier too. No one will see it anyway once it's painted with carpet and floor mats over. This is a great video, and I will be doing mine soon too. Thanks!
Yea you can certainly lap joint weld it. That will be plenty strong enough.
Good job need to lower wire speed and turn up current and you will get a flatter weld but good job overall
Thanks for a great "how to" video. I will be searching for a MIG welder in the future. Just wondering what vendor you got the replacement floor pans from? Carry On.
I bought them on eBay from Classic2currentfabrication
Great price and great shipping.
Let me guess - retired state union employee ? Two speeds - slow and dead stop - this vid should be 6.25 minutes - spice it up - this ain’t no clam bake.
Great job
Awesome Videos! Just bought my old 91 YJ back after selling it 5 years ago, this is one of many things I need to do. Thank you for posting this and giving all of us and I confidence to tackle the project. Much love!!
