What do you use as an interseeder, when do you interested, and what is your interseeded blend?
Cool video thanks. I wonder about stacking enterprises of processing and marketing fresh, dried, frozen, canned & fermented, pickled products on farm or with co-op processing of various cover crops.

So several have asked, yet there is no answer on the yields.
So are we to presume it was a much worse yield on the 60”?

Generally a 5-10% drop in yield is what we've seen. That said, this is an average as I've seen it where yield is maintained but also where 60" corn has a 25% reduction.
One also needs to make sure we are comparing apples to apples. lots of times we are also cutting our N rates. I've seen this too often where a guy says his 60" corn only yield 180 BPA while 30 ran 200. Then come to find out he didn't get weeds taken care of with 60" as well and he cut N rate by 25 pounds or %. Just a couple observations.

Why not sow the maize as a double row with 60 inch spacing?

@@lanceklessigregenerativeag7901 that's great, thank you! Any issues with turnips becoming "woody" or unpalatable to cattle by seeding so early since they have an earlier maturity? If aerial applying cover crops is there any advantage to doing it later in the year or will the corn be too canopied even with 60" rows to allow sunlight? Sorry for all the questions...I find this type of work very interesting!
@@kyletainter Regarding the turnips...cows will actually target them late into fall and winter. High value feed!
I think the we need to continue doing research re aerially applying seed and 60's. My hunch is that if we wait we likely will have alot more weed pressure and will be counting on a decent rain to get the seedlings started....which becomes more hit and miss into the summer.

What population is the 60s verses 30s?

The short answer is... an in row population of around 60-61,000 on the 60”. So across an acre the planted pop was about 30,000.

Why would you plant corn at all if your only gonna plant 60 inch rows? I don’t understand how a farmer could afford to plant that way and make a profit off of the corn harvest!!!
