Back in the day, I used a scanner to beat airplane tickets before they were tickets. The coppahs would use a low power simplex car to car channel for this, and due to it's elevation, you'd begin to hear the plane talking to ground units long before (80 miles give or take) you got to were the ground units were operating. Then it was continue pedal to metal until you got close enough to begin hearing the ground units responding to the plane, which let you know you were entering the enforcement zone.

As I said on the other ticket video, these "calibrated" stories are great to me, as I work at a calibration lab. Imagine the time it takes to see a car cross a line, mentally process that, send a signal from your brain to your hand to start the stopwatch. Now imagine how far you have traveled at 65 mph or 75 mph - can the time device compensate for the "human error" inherent in this method? The "calibrated" time device at 2:21 should go to a calibrated laboratory, not a watch shop. There maybe should be a tamper indicator on it too, like a sticker that says "calibration void if removed" or something, but some labs don't put those on. Do the time devices go to the manufacturer? Do they know that the measurements taken from those are used to legally define what is over a limit? That is way to in depth for a person to argue on the spot but basically it is some of the thought that should have been occurring behind the scenes. Thank you Ticket Clinic for taking up that fight.
Love these stories. I had a trooper claim he paced me at 127 mph. I knew he was running video with audio so I asked him how long he paced me, from how far, and how long it took him to catch up to me. I did this so I could get a copy of his own recording to use against him in court. Well remember the math question about trains and how long they took to get to a certain location at a certain speed you thought was useless? Guess again. I showed the judge the officer would have been having to travel at 186 mph for over 7 seconds to close the distance between he and I to apprehend me. Needless to say it was thrown out. Remember math is your friend when it comes to pacing.
It's because measuring devices used in law enforcment are also used for cases where people are risking sometimes life time jail or the death penalty. You don't want to send an innocent to the electric chair because someone eyeballed a distance or used a fautly watch to measure whatever critical time involved in a case like that.
Very recently, Chattanooga started using both Air Based Law Enforcement Tactics and Air Based Fire Fighting Tactics(using a Cessna to determine the exact address of a fire). Both Cessnas are equipped with under plane cameras and have special under wing writing. One says Air Police, and the other one I’ve only seen once and couldn’t read what it said(I was driving US 153 which is a pseudo interstate that connects with I75.
Here in ontario canada you can argue the angle of which the cop was sitting when he got you on radar you can ask if they calibrated their radar unit before the shift started and those are just the ones I've personally used with success I'm sure theres plenty more. Or one that never fails is you just dont let off on that pedal also had alot of success with that one. Works for a variety of would be tickets and or impoundments
Everyone hates a lawyer until the day they need one. Yet even the Judges and Officers who got ticked off by this guy in court would hire him for their own tickets.
No. The judges and cops play by a different set of rules entirely. They simply “tin” the cop who pulled them over, and they carry on with their day with no ticket. How do I know? My dad was a cop. In fact, I even benefited! I had a PBA card that just said my name, my dads name, his contact info, and where he worked and they let me go! I was wiiiiild back in the day, bro.
I could have used this guy for all those "9.3 laps, start point is here and finish point is down there, around the last building, watch out for the cars, and go around the tree in the middle of the road" two mile run PT tests I've done. If you're Army, you'll know what I mean.
I remember an article in Car and Driver probably 15-20 years ago about how aircraft speed traps worked. I remember the officer in the article used a helicopter instead of a plane, and explained he flew with his knees and had a stop watch in each hand. I dont know why that random article stuck with me all these years, but it did. That one, and something about an old lady in the desert where the road in front of her house was disused for a new highway so she basically had a half mile 3 lane asphalt driveway, and C+D had a drag race there with a Lambo(?). Again, long time ago
In the 90’s, when the “double nickel” was still around, I had the contract for the maintenance of the California Highway Patrol Cessna 185 aircraft. One day the flight crew, a pilot and pacing officer, came in and the pacing officer announces “I just nailed a red Porsche for 56” (miles per hour). He knew, of course, that I drove a 911. No idea how that went, or if true, but they were good guys and used the exact same procedures stated in this vid. Good stuff.
There was a story on UA-cam, about a pilot that got done by aircraft. They took the matter to court, and cost the police pilot his wings. Apparently, the police pilot violated several significant FAA rules and regulations, that the agency had no choice but to clip his wings. All charges that were laid by that pilot were turfed out of court, and suspect that refunds had to be given, by the direction of the FAA. The airfield in question was in one of the northern states, and was a pilot operated airfield, as in you had to call your intentions to an open frequency, and it is up to others to listen in and observe with what is going on.

Then it was continue pedal to metal until you got close enough to begin hearing the ground units responding to the plane, which let you know you were entering the enforcement zone.
THIS HAS TO BE ONE OF THE MOST AMERICAN THING I EVER HEARD!
I got one of these in FL. was doing 110. It was a crazy scene, about 8 cars convoying at 110 (we didn't know each other). All of a sudden 6 police cars peel out from a service area, swarm the highway and pull us all over. Cop gave me a warning since I was from NY. Gave me a BS ticket for no proof of insurance. Mailed a copy of insurance when I got back to NY, paid $30 fine. Did write "Speed by aircraft" on reason for pulling over.
Loved this one!
This is the kind of person to argue with an Atomic Clock.
this dudes my hero
In KY it’s called “Vector by aircraft” and only legal by aircraft and I’ve had 2 different tickets dismissed from KY state troopers that tried to claim they had my speed by vector method and bc my last name starts w a C an the court went alphabetically. They ended up having to dismiss every ticket after mine bc of my defense being seen by everyone behind me. It was a Memorial Day weekend speed trap and they’d issued over 100 tickets n a double fine construction zone and none were certified by laser! My best win n court ever! 124/70 and 69/55 both tossed 3 yrs apart from illegal speed traps! Pays to know the laws in ur state!
Plus his name has to be Victor.
So your last name is WACO? Do you know the branch davidians?
@@theenzoferrari458 victim of low test scores obviously. Poor child.
@@hunglo_ren ooooh opportunities have arisen since I've triggered you. Going to barricade yourself in a lodging are you? When are you going to ascend to your godly throne? Do you drink milk?
Man, it's insane how much effort goes into speed enforcement, when it really doesn't do anything useful.
It's not really speed enforcement, its revenue generation.
@@stevef68 on surface streets it make some sense but yeah not really needed on highways
It's because measuring devices used in law enforcment are also used for cases where people are risking sometimes life time jail or the death penalty. You don't want to send an innocent to the electric chair because someone eyeballed a distance or used a fautly watch to measure whatever critical time involved in a case like that.
Whoa. Nice watch! Y’all must be racking up some serious tickets.
Love this guy!
Thanks for turning the fan off. It was really distracting. Lol.
Good stuff.
The 158 dislike are troopers who lost their case in court of law.
This guy is awesome!
"Get this man a shield" 🛡
He's my new hero 🥸👍🏁
I like the rotating UA-cam sign in the background.
Very cool piece
Honestly, its nuts they try and use such an imprecise method to try and measure speed. Not only that but the cost of running the plane as well? Nuts
I can just see everyone after him was mad about how much time he was taking until everyone's case was dismissed without them needing to do anything other then get in line.
I love his stories, you can tell he likes going to court lol
i still let your ad play at the end. im not even a car guy I just enjoy good stories...
The moral of the story; ask as many questions as you can pertinent to the case and get as much info as you possibly can to use against them.
People are just complimenting this dude and saying how good he is instead of just realizing that he's just trying to dodge responsibility.
If we the tax payer are paying so much in taxes that the police forces are able to buy airplanes to issue speeding tickets, there is a major problem.
