The only reason I would listen to a cover is to hear another artists take on e song. If I wanted to hear the exact same thing, I would listen to the original.
I did understand, and a change that small is still following the song, but adding a different style and flavor. Listen to White Zombie's cover of Children of the Grave. It's a textbook example of what I'm talking about.

Awesome vocals, tight band. To anyone who is disappointed or thinks this sucks, this is a frickin top notch cover. Also it's a cover, not a copy. Of course the singer is not gonna sing 1 on 1 like M. Shadows. No one has the exact same voice as Matt, just like no one has the exact same vocals as this guy. Also wanna give credit to whoever mixed this thing, pretty awesome. Keep it up
I personally think these guys are great. It took me a little while to get used to the lead singers accent, but I think now they're great. I don't really mind that he doesn't have the voice of Matt's. He's good to me and that's all I care about.

How did you guys get the kick drum to sound how it does? What mic or mics did you use, mic placement, pre amp, EQing, compression, etc... I love the why A7X made it sound but i cant get it to sound anything like it
