Miami Vice gave Jan Hammer the opportunity to make his music heard on TV -_in stereo_ (where available) for the first time. Then, Jan Hammer gave the show longevity with music that merged and amplified the imagery to a point where they're stronger than the story lines imho. Hammer was heavily inspired by the footage, but I deem the music more inspired than the series. Michael Mann secretly made music play the lead part. It's a #%&@! shame that there was never an album with the entire MV works out, because there are many, many different versions and bits of wonderful compositions in there ("Tubbs & Valerie" being exceptionally heartbreaking).
Jan hammer es el mejor tecladista del genero del jazz fusion o jazz rock. Fue el que mejor supo combinar rock con jazz. Y tremendo pianista de jazz standart.
The World needs more Jan Hammer !
I hope he knows how he made life a bit better for so many of us.
My wife is from Ostrava and is so proud that he's done so well for himself.
Geez 40 years ago…

Very talented man
Brilliant composer, still my favourite music maker
The eighties much like the sixties was very unique and can never be duplicated again in any way. Im glad i was a part of it.
Where is Jan’s home in the country? They didn’t say where he was living at this time. I’m curious to know where this beautiful property is
Still love him all chapters of his catalogue
I love the Too Far soundtrack from the Minds Eye video from around 1990. I still love listening to it. well done Mr. Hammer.
Love this interview!!. thanks Jan ✌🎶🔥🔥🕉😎
No mention of Jazz then? I guess that would be too much for the viewers of this trash show.
My thoughts exactly...all the hipster douches back then in the 80s probably going "MahaviWHAT??!"
Crawl back under your rock.
